    Own a 2008 Sierra 1500 2wd crew cab and have always wanted to swap out my 4.8L for something bigger. Heard about your products and the 8.1 or 490 and your larger bore sizes and better flowong heads, cam, etc and this became my dream build Lol if I started a video series build I would probably use your products. So nice and professional.

    Wow! This is awesome! What a beast. The oil squirters are an awesome option for those of us running forced induction.

    Does the purchase of this engine require a core?

    2:50 If I remove my corvette engine, then put Raylor 540 cid in my corvette, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN WEIGHT. Does this add 100 pounds or 200 pounds or 300 pounds???

      Which Corvette engine? It's lighter than a cast iron big block, heavier than an aluminum LSX. Almost 700lb iirc.

    Still making these Micah? I’ve got a 63 C10 I’ve been wanting to big block but also have fuel injection

      Of course! www.raylarengineering.com/vortec-8100-crate-engine.html
      In a C10 from the 60's (light by comparison to modern vehicles) I'd tell ya to run the 206 cam for a daily, 213 if you buy a decent stall.

    "We've tried really, really, hard", meaning, they had a professional head porter give them a good port.

    • @MicahCoy
      @MicahCoy  3 роки тому +4

      We started with a very good port, from a very good designer, but things didn't stop there.
      "The stock heads are JUNK with a capitol "J"! Don't even think about trying to step the stock heads up with port work. The castings are thin, the short side radius is way to high and the combustion chamber is a total joke. The stock version of these heads are the worst I have ever seen come out GM... Raylar cylinder heads take less timing, gain over 65 horsepower and improve gas mileage tremendously!! With the new intake manifold that Raylar designed the engine gets even more efficient. The stock cylinder heads were so bad that making them better was a snap. Better in every single regard, I might add."
      Darrin Morgan, Reher Morrison Racing Engines
      Darrin designed the ports for our original heads back around 2000. Since then, we've improved the heads for marine grade durability for our v2 heads and the v3 heads which are shown in the video saw additional CAD modeling for further improved flow. The resulting v3 heads outflow the v1 heads to the tune of about 15 horsepower with the same valves and port volume.

      Your kidding right? I love this version motor but you'll never get near the same mileage while towning nor the active low torque when you need it.

    • @billyray4716
      @billyray4716 5 років тому +1

      @@ryanj4423 as compared to stock diesels, an 8.8 liter supercharged v8 will have like 1000 ft lbs and like 700 at 1800 rpm. But yeah the mpg would be like 8. But so would your 0to100 lol

    is it an aftermarket block or can a 8.1 be maxed out to 572?

    • @MicahCoy
      @MicahCoy  2 роки тому

      540 is the most the stock block can handle with the 4.75 inch stroke.

    I’m sorry man but your prices are way too high to consider, corvette C7 LT4 engine complete and brand new is 2500$ cheaper!

    • @MicahCoy
      @MicahCoy  5 років тому +7

      You're right, small blocks are super cheap and widely available. On the other hand, most fuel injected aftermarket 540 BBC engines are priced in the same ballpark.
      We don't go small block because you're limited to what the cubic inches can produce on pump gas. When you toss our 2.9L supercharger on our 540-572, you're making a very daily driveable 11-12lbs of boost (950-1050hp depending on cam selection, headers, etc) on 91 octane. Makes 650hp seem pretty small, doesn't it?
