Welcome to the longest, hardest way possible
Couldn't agree more with you
half the stuff he just did was way unnecessary
Un plug , remove Half the cover, cut what is left of the old belt off, Remove the crank bolt. Slip in the new belt, . Reinstall crank Bolt, Loosen the belt tensioner, Install belt and adjust tensioner.
What did you use to remove the plastic engine cover????? It ain’t a screwdriver.
The screwdriver for these fasteners is a Torx driver. I don't recall the exact size, either T20 or T25. Torx fasteners are commonly used to assemble power tools. I prefer them as the head is much less likely to strip out compared to Phillips screws. If you plan to do many DIY repairs it's worth investing in a basic set of Torx drivers. Sizes T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, and T30 will cover most of the screws you will run into. -Mark
There is another video without taking everything apart to put the belt on!
Outstanding video. I also like your clean and orderly shop. Thanks.
A big thanks for this tutorial. We have about the same model air compressor, if not the same, and the belt broke. But we had it since around 2013, so it was going to happen. I bought a new one from ereplacement parts and when it comes in, I will take another look at this video and follow your instructions. Thanks, again.
Kudos to Dewalt for releasing this video. If I designed a compressor that took this much disassembly to replace a belt, it would be a closely guarded secret. Holy cow!
Where do you get your dewalt parts

Are the hex screws fastening the covers metric or SAE?
Yes, I'd like to know that too.
