I’m really glad you did this comparison because I was tempted to try the Philadelphia brand, but at that price (like Kevin said) just make your own and have a huge bowl for the same price. I have never liked canned frostings, especially the cream cheese varieties, they taste nothing like homemade!
I actually asked you to do this months ago… thank you for doing it… the vanilla flavor though… Aldi is (IMO) the same as great value… Duncan Hines is vile… Kevin is spot on about making your own cream cheese frosting… I actually use one block of cream cheese, one stick of butter and a box (16 oz, I think) of confectionery sugar along with a little milk, vanilla and salt… it’s amazing and takes five minutes…. Betty Crocker has both a whipped and creamy version, I prefer the whipped… an 8oz block of Philadelphia cream cheese is over $3 where I live…
So sorry if this didn’t come across the way I intended… I didn’t mean to sound rude… I know how hard you work to do videos that appeal to all viewers and I’m just glad you got to do this… sorry if that didn’t translate in previous comment
I always think less frosting is better than more, as cake is sweet enough. I also love cream cheese, so think the Philadelphia one is the one for me. Thanks for all your reviews!
The chocolate frostings taste more similar and the Duncan Hines isn’t vile… but if you try them side by side try to get all the sane chocolate… they have a milk, dark and fudge variety in some brands… I think the traditional is the fudge…
Cream cheese frosting is my favorite type of frosting-especially on a carrot cake. I was going to buy the Philadelphia cream cheese frosting based upon brand reputation but now I won’t. I actually think I’ll try making mine from scratch the next time I need it.
It sounds like you would rank them: 1) Betty Crocker 2) Duncan Hines (kettle corn) 3) Pillsbury/Great Value (tie) 4) Philadelphia Please do vanilla. Chocolate might be harder as some will say chocolate, others chocolate fudge, still others milk chocolate Lastly, have you ever made orange flavored frosting? It’s the hardest non-traditional flavor to find here
This one was fun. I expected the Philadelphia would just be whipped cream cheese lol. I don't need sickly sweet, but Pillsbury has also always been a go to in our house.
Good morning, Tami and Kevin! Thank you for the review. I always thought you were supposed to stir the can of frosting before consuming. I might be wrong. And you may have said that you did that, and I just missed it. Do you think that would have made a difference?
Good idea to do a comparison! I never stored the canned frostings in the fridge after I opened them. They have so much sugar and preservatives that they were fine in the cabinet. I normally hate cream cheese frosting, but the cream cheese flavor is so non-existent in these that I didn't mind them as a kid, scraped off 🤣 But I have to agree, Betty Crocker is the least nasty brand!!!
Nothing beats homemade cream cheese frosting! You are so right --- taking the time to make a beautiful red velvet or carrot cake and topping with one of these would ruin the whole thing. 😢
For me it depends in what the cake is with a carrot cake i want a less sweet frosting so the philldphia would probly be tasty . But with a traditional white or yellow cake and espesly a red velvet cake a want a sweet frosting .
I laughed so hard at you two over this video, lol! Kevin kept saying the Philadelphia is the only one that tastes like cream cheese, and you kept saying yeah but it doesn't taste like frosting for a cake, and he admitted that was true, but then say again that it tasted like cream cheese, and then you would say, but it doesn't taste like frosting, lololol i was dead by the end of it🤣🤣🤣
If the cake is really sweet, then maybe you don't want the icing to be really sweet as well. So, I'm curious how the Philadelphia would be on top of a sweet cake.
Hi Tami & Kevin. It seems like those type frostings always have that "chemical" taste. Would love to see Kevin do the chocolate also. If there's enough different brands available, maybe try the German chocolate cake frosting, coconut pecan. Always enjoy when you do these types of videos. Have a great weekend! Love from KimInOhio. 💕💕.
Yes, Betty crocker for the win! I literally make a cake every weekend from a mix for my family so we can all have a piece. I made red velvet last weekend and German chocolate the week before. I had stopped buying Betty since they reduced the box size but the mixes and frostings really are the best. These are some of my favorite videos!!! Thank you!
The Philadelphia shouldn't be labeled "frosting." It literally tastes like the sweet flavored cream cheeses they also sell, just without any additional added flavor. I'd buy the Betty Crocker again for a good frosting, but honestly I prefer their vanilla since the cream cheese flavor is so light. I would love to see you do this with chocolate and vanilla! Betty Crocker sells a regular milk chocolate and a more expensive "Hershey's" milk chocolate, which would make for a great comparison!
I’m really surprised with the Philadelphia. I thought surely it would have been better/sweeter. However, with only 9 grams of sugar. I prefer homemade cream cheese frosting. I haven’t had any of these, but I have liked the Betty Crocker frostings. What’s fun review! Thanks so much.
I was literally just having a conversation with my grandmother about how canned frosting isn't what it used to be. I love cream cheese frosting and none of the store bought kind actually have a cream cheese flavor. Once I found out how easy it was to make a homemade cream cheese frosting I stopped buying any canned ones
Same!!! I bought a bunch of boxed cake mixes and frostings to go with each, and I thought gosh this tastes nothing like it did when I was a little girl!! Wonder why everything tastes like garbage now, it's so strange!! Like i swear I will never buy any of it again. I was relieved that brownie mix still tastes good though, exactly as I remember, so that's the only boxed mix I will ever buy again.
I really dont like the Philadelphia one. I guess they mostly all taste weird but im not really a cream cheese frosting kind of girl but nothing beats a home made frosting 😅😂. Id prob go with Duncan
I knew the Philadelphia one would be easy to pick out, only one that was actually cream cheese base...Also basically anything Duncan Heins is a no go for me 🤢
I think the Philadelphia cream cheese one has the best flavor but the texture is very loose. There's no comparison The other ones taste the fake as hell but I didn't like the consistency of the Philadelphia.
Most cream cheese frostings I have made use butter this one doesn't I believe and it's too loose, it doesn't really have any flavor and it's lacking the thickness of a cream cheese. Just make your own it's really easy
I just can’t on the price for the Philadelphia one. It’s so easy to make homemade cream cheese frosting there is no reason to purchase any of these and flavor is incomparable. Great review
The Philadelphia is absolutely AWFUL! It tastes nothing like cream cheese frosting! I ended up adding extra powdered sugar & vanilla to mine & it was still terrible!
I really enjoy these types of comparison videos. It helps me so I'm not standing in the store debating which brand will be best. 🤔😃
Thank you 🤗
Mix the Betty Crocker and the Philadelphia frostings together!
To me, the Philadelphia would only make the Betty Crocker less sweet.
Or you could look at it like that the BC would make the Philadelphia more sweet 😉. It's about finding the right balance...
That is what I would do.
PLEASE do this with Vanilla frostings! Wow I’m gonna try Betty Crocker!
We will!
Please do the chocolate and vanilla reviews of the same brands! WOw this was so informative!!!
Thank you! We will!
I’m really glad you did this comparison because I was tempted to try the Philadelphia brand, but at that price (like Kevin said) just make your own and have a huge bowl for the same price. I have never liked canned frostings, especially the cream cheese varieties, they taste nothing like homemade!
They are definitely different from homemade but I’m glad I know which brand I like the best now. 😃
I like plain cream cheese. No sugar. I am not surprised that some of
these tasted so bad because of artificial ingredients.
Thanks for the review.
You could just buy a block of cream cheese and whip it up in the mixer yourself 🤗
I love blind taste tests! Fun! 😊
Glad you like them!

Based on your comment, you would enjoy the Philadelphia. 🤗
The chocolate frostings taste more similar and the Duncan Hines isn’t vile… but if you try them side by side try to get all the sane chocolate… they have a milk, dark and fudge variety in some brands… I think the traditional is the fudge…
Wow, I'm so glad I talked myself out of buying the Philadelphia one before you reviewed it. Really saved me a buy, thanks as usual!
Glad I could help!
I would buy cream cheese and add to it makes a great frosting I’m used to making homemade by scratch cakes and pies.
Cream cheese frosting is my favorite type of frosting-especially on a carrot cake. I was going to buy the Philadelphia cream cheese frosting based upon brand reputation but now I won’t. I actually think I’ll try making mine from scratch the next time I need it.

It seems like I added orange flavoring while making frosting in the past. There are so many flavorings you can add.
This one was fun. I expected the Philadelphia would just be whipped cream cheese lol. I don't need sickly sweet, but Pillsbury has also always been a go to in our house.
Since they called it frosting, I was expecting it to be sweet.
Good morning, Tami and Kevin! Thank you for the review. I always thought you were supposed to stir the can of frosting before consuming. I might be wrong. And you may have said that you did that, and I just missed it. Do you think that would have made a difference?
I think people do that to make it easier to spread. It has the same flavor throughout so you aren’t mixing anything together. 😃
Good idea to do a comparison!
I never stored the canned frostings in the fridge after I opened them. They have so much sugar and preservatives that they were fine in the cabinet.

I would love to try them ,great review thanks for sharing
,
Thank you 😊
I bet if you mixed the Betty Crocker and the Philadelphia it would be outstanding.
It would definitely help, but the Betty Crocker is really good on it's own 🤗
Nothing beats homemade cream cheese frosting! You are so right --- taking the time to make a beautiful red velvet or carrot cake and topping with one of these would ruin the whole thing. 😢
Bought the Betty Crocker recently and thought it tasted pretty good. Wished I had bought buttercreme though.
For me it depends in what the cake is with a carrot cake i want a less sweet frosting so the philldphia would probly be tasty . But with a traditional white or yellow cake and espesly a red velvet cake a want a sweet frosting .

You’re so cute together! Thanks for the awesome content!
Thank you!! 😊
Love to see you guys do a chocolate chip cookie mix taste test too.
Great idea!!
If the cake is really sweet, then maybe you don't want the icing to be really sweet as well. So, I'm curious how the Philadelphia would be on top of a sweet cake.
I personally wouldn’t enjoy it … on anything.
Hi Tami & Kevin. It seems like those type frostings always have that "chemical" taste. Would love to see Kevin do the chocolate also. We bought both this weekend 😉
Do a video of chocolate frostings
I’m really surprised with the Philadelphia. I thought surely it would have been better/sweeter. However, with only 9 grams of sugar. I prefer homemade cream cheese frosting. I haven’t had any of these, but I have liked the Betty Crocker frostings. What’s fun review! Thanks so much.
It’s not sweet at all unfortunately.
I was literally just having a conversation with my grandmother about how canned frosting isn't what it used to be. I love cream cheese frosting and none of the store bought kind actually have a cream cheese flavor. Once I found out how easy it was to make a homemade cream cheese frosting I stopped buying any canned ones
I agree; it's easy to make.

nice blind taste test reviews 😅 these frostings would go well on cakes
Thank you 😊
😄maybe mix 1and 3
At least the Philadelphia cream cheese frosting is good for diabetics if they can't have regular frosting.
I knew the Philadelphia one would be easy to pick out, only one that was actually cream cheese base...Also basically anything Duncan Heins is a no go for me 🤢
I’m glad the Betty Crocker was so good and affordable.
How interesting that cream cheese or milk isn’t the main ingredient in cream cheese icing. What a great blind taste test. Thanks for the review.
Thank you!!
Great idea for a review, I always wondered if the cream cheese flavor could be any good
Thank you!
Blind taste tests are my favorite!!!
Thank you so much 🤗
@@courtneyhayes6085 me too!!
I would love if u did this with chocolate and vanilla frosting. Great review!❤❤😊😊
We will try to do those as well!
Wow! Thank you for the warning on the Philadelphia one. Frosting should be sweet, imo.
I think so too! If I’m having dessert, it needs to be sweet 😁
EAAAAAT!!!!
-Quote from Sr pelo Mickey show
Proves you should make your own lol
I really enjoyed the Betty Crocker. I would buy it again.
Great review
Thank you!
How is it frosting with no sugar?!? 🤣
I don’t think they should have called it frosting.
I think the Philadelphia cream cheese one has the best flavor but the texture is very loose.
There's no comparison The other ones taste the fake as hell but I didn't like the consistency of the Philadelphia.

Just make your own it's really easy
Wow! Y'all have a lot of tiny spoons ;-)
😂 We do!
I LOVE THE WHIPPED FROSTING ON A CAKE.
Should have stirred them up before tasting 😊
It wouldn’t have changed the flavor.
This was a fun idea! Good to know not to waste my money on the Philadelphia!
I'm glad this helped!
using CANNED ICNING is like cooking a steak in a microwave oven, lol
Thanks for watching!
Come on Tami. Let’s see you do that blind test
I stopped buying canned frosting years ago. They all taste like chemicals.
Thank you for watching!
I just can’t on the price for the Philadelphia one. It’s so easy to make homemade cream cheese frosting there is no reason to purchase any of these and flavor is incomparable. Great review
It’s a ridiculous price, you are right!
TAMMY'S FACE ON THE SECOND BITE OF PHILLY WAS PURE DISCUST😂
THE PHILLY BRAND PROBABLY TASTE MORE REAL THAN THE OTHERS.
She isn’t lying it’s disgusting!!!!!!
I THINK THE PHILADELPHIA WILL BE THE BEST , I'M SAYING BEFORE THE REVIEW. BECAUSE IT'S ACTUALLY A CREAM CHEESE BASED BRAND.
Christmas came early for Kevin
It really did!
The Philadelphia is absolutely AWFUL! It tastes nothing like cream cheese frosting! I ended up adding extra powdered sugar & vanilla to mine & it was still terrible!
Thank you for your comment! I was so surprised it wasn’t sweet!
