I used to drive up to topsail all the time to spend the day to beat the crowds in Wrightsville. I absolutely loved the break there. Had some of the best waves of my life about 15 years ago. Can't wait to get back.
Carter Hamilton thanks a lot, man. I’ve lived on topsail island for 25 years and I’ve never seen it break as good and as consistent as the summer of 2017. We had 3 major storms back to back that summer that produced some of the best waves that a lot of spots on the east coast had ever seen.
Topsail is a hard one to catch on a good day. I used to work in Wilmington and see it going off. I'd get back down to Wrightsville and it would be blown out and shit. By the time I got back up to Topsail, it was already gone. I spent years chasing it down east, then I got stationed on Oahu. Whole different animal.

george howard? not on these two days where i was filming at, he wasn't. he def surfed the swells we had. we had a solid month of swell, though in surf city. this video shows the last two days we had waves from maria and the end of the hurricane swell all together. i stopped filming the second day around 1130 and after that it just got smaller and smaller.
tntcaliente i put those clips in the beginning as a joke. About a minute of soft top footage, then it gets into the cleaner, heavier stuff. These two days were the best I’ve ever seen Surf City break.

Looks like 2 second rides and closeout city. Would have been better with either a smaller swell or a shorter period swell or maybe more tide. I can't believe this is the best sandbar you guys could find.

ive been to topsail many times over the last 20 years. sometimes you get some really insane swells there, with some absolute monster waves
