Why is there no access from the Ockham Hill roundabout to the A3? I’ve been following these videos and it’s only just become apparent that this “obvious” access point isn’t connected.
@@edbot456 You can get to Wisley from the A3. The problem is that the roundabout at the end of the new road has no access to the A3 (which goes over it). You have to travel further on local roads to reach the A3.
Loving the fact that a wonderful new cycle path has been created and two cyclists are using the road...I should imagine that when horses and pedestrians join them that it will probably be safer to drive on the pavement...
"two cyclists are using the roads as they are entitled to" is I guess what you meant to write! We've got to get away from this retarded notion that "bikes must not be on the road" Its not them and us. Its all of us using the roads together! (As James may said. Its like a park. We all pay, so we can all use!) Its what we pay council tax for.
If you drove it in rush hour you will appreciate the new access as before it was appalling ling. Too fast traffic coming up which won’t let you out. Many vehicles then cut across trying to force their way into the m25 slip access.
It was always a difficult turnout with poor visibility and little room to accelerate up to the speed of the A3. For those wanting A3 South (back towards Guildford) using the M25 junction 10 roundabout was also a nightmare.
If you wanted to continue up the A3, you had to cross the lanes of traffic wanting the M25. The new road allows you to join the A3 further back using the Ockham roundabout northbound slip, giving a lot more time to get over into the northbound A3 lanes. I was also under the impression that the existing lay by will be merged into a fourth lane on the northbound A3 for traffic turning left onto the M25. I could be wrong on that one tho.
The big problem will be when that new 1,700 housing estate opens, if it feeds onto this road, as you suggest, it’s going to lock it and the roundabout solid during peak hours.
@@aviewthroughthelens that's 1,700 houses not 1,700 people, as the average occupancy in Surrey is 2.5 people per house, it's 4,250 people in and out via one exit = tailbacks. Do you know what the plans for the lay-by on the A3 North just by the old Wisley exit are? Often see truck drivers parked up in there taking a well deserved break, are they going to lose that valuable space?
Seems a long and pointless long way around, to drive south, looping back over the A3 from the south. Why not simply make a North road access from that Roundabout, and take short route north of the A3?
Lovely wide footpath but nowhere to park to use it, to walk over the bridge over the A3..... unless it is supposed to be a cycle path yet we see at least 2 cyclists using the road and holding the traffic up, and putting themselves at a greater risk of injury....... welcome to Britain in the 21st century.....
I parked at RHS Wisley on Saturday afternoon and was able to have a "preview" of the new road almost straight away out of the car. Not so good at the other end for sure. The cycle path is very wide and very smooth but equally they looked like "serious" cyclists and with the slight downhills on that road be easy to get up to about 25 mph on a bike which then begs the question of bit fast to share with pedestrians yet still bit slow on a road although I recall seeing some 30 mph signs.
@@philstubbs481 yeah I ran along it yesterday and is probably the widest cycle/foot path alongside a road can recall seeing and had largely all to myself apart from the odd person walking. Oddly there is a sign saying the bridge over the A3 is not suitable for equestrians think because all Tarmac at that point whereas most of the rest has an unmade path presume for horses parallel to the Tarmac one. Hopefully be safe enough to accommodate everyone meant to use it.
IF THERE IS A CYCLE LANE MARKED AND CYCLISTS DONT USE IT THERE SHOULD BE A AUTOMATIC HEAVY FINE, STARTING AT £500 FOR THE FIRST OFFENCE THEN DOUBLING FOR EACH OFFENCE THERAFTER.
I'm So Greatful That This Wisley Road Is Now Open To The Public Now Cars Can Use It I'm So Happy Now
Wow. Thank goodness they finally finished.
Now let's keep a eye on the old route to the erm Wisley garden centre? And the changes of the roadworks. 👍🏻
So coming from Guildford on the A3 can I get onto the Ockham roundabout then onto Wisley? Google maps don’t seem to show that .

I know it is crazy there is room for both an off and on slip road there which would make so much sense.
With the new estate on the airfield site, new slip roads (off northbound/ on southbound) at Ockham must be on the cards??
This is so crazy!! So you can’t get to wisley from the A3!! Incompetence at its worst!!

Long queues this morning to join the A3 from ockham roundabout as they closed one of the slip roads.
Hope that's temporary...

Will there be street lights
Unlikely as they would have installed on the build
Biggest issue here is why remove a perfectly good access to A3 northbound and block it off
I have no idea, they argue it is dangerous but I am not sure
Its seen a lot of accidents, and with the new A3/M25 layout traffic on old access would be even faster

To a point yes but 1700 people are not going to go in and out at the same time are they?

It's actually wider than it looks and is for cyclists, walkers and horses. 😊
