Idwal Staircase Scramble

Idwal staircase is a nice grade 2 scramble on the side of the Idwal slabs, a popular climbing spot.
Even after fairly long dry spells it remains wet as it faces north and is recessed under overhanging rocks.
I went up on a fairly warm day. The water was lovely and cold which made for a refreshing climb in the warm.
It looks like I am intentionally following the wettest line up the route, which I am. The areas with flowing water are mostly free of slime and algae and therefore make the best foot and handholds!
A good route and a nice shaded, cool alternative for getting up into Cwm Cneifion.
No music on this one. I think the sound of the water is really pleasant.

Actually id highly recommend it! Quite sasy and gentle as grade 2 scrambles go 😊

@@Astilath Thanks but I got scared during my grade 1 scramble ,so I think this one isn't for me:) I rather watch someone else risking their life lol ;) Anyway nice vid,thanks for upload

This is a really nice route, just a pity it's seldom in condition. I had to wait years before finding it relatively dry enough to do but it was well worth the wait.

I've done it a few times. Weirdly the holds under the most water are the least slippery! I guess the algae is washed off. Its awesome on a roasting summer day. Keeps you nice and cool 😎
