Peak gameplay, literally no game feels like ow, it's insane how polished and good the gameplay is for casuals and for extremely high skill players alike
Overwatch had the potential to be the biggest game in the world. Blizzard in its greed just lacked the patience to build it up, and murderd it's potential by forcing ow league down on our throats way to early in the lifespan. The first cycle of events was extraordinary. If they did 2-3 new event each year instead of recycleing, and pushed out an animated show... they'd still be on top of the world.
Overwatch League was absolutely wondrous and wonderful for my experience personally. Overwatch 2 on the other hand, absolutely killed everything about Overwatch on its launch for me. Great video. I've been playing marvel rivals the past couple days, and while I was calling it an OW killer, i think it also has a chance to be OW's savior. It forces OW to do better by having some serious competition.
Totally agree! Junkensteins Lab should be a permanent new game mode, that mode was so sick! I would also love a perma Mirrorwatch, really enjoyed the heore/villain swap concept

It makes me so so happy to find players like you, I feel the exact same way and had tears toward the end of the video omg 😭. Can’t tell you how much I genuinely love this game, friends have given up on it but I could never. Even when we had that dry spell for 2 years I still played it almost everyday because it meant that much. (Will never forget the stop motion with tracer and reaper for Christmas ugh!!) I still have hope for the future of the game :) like you said, 2 steps forward, one 1 step back.
I really really loved this game for everything they did in overwatch 1, and my opinion is the same as yours about almost everything. What they did when they announced about not having pve was shocking which made me give up on it and not come again at all, but watching this video made me realise how much they are willing to make the community have fun again. Thank you for making us know about the good things among all those negative videos and comments about overwatch 2. I want them to actually get back to those great story telling cinematics and if the community could be a bit nicer like come on it is a game also I DID NOT expect this channel to be that new with that type of good story telling and chilling editing; keep it up
Thb, don't expect so much cinematics anymore, not because OW devs don't want to do them, but in Activision the vision among those cinematics has changed a lot. They only do those type of thing to promote dlc's/content paid. Even Blizzcon is something that maybe will be cancelled in general because of Activision vision of it. Jason Schreier talked about this on his recent book. The heads of Activision don't see this type of things as something needed to make money and they cut so much resources from that area of the company.

@HuntedCupCake whoever is on the top now, I wish they realise how important it was for ow to gain players in the first place by the cinematics and making people feel they are listened by the devs
@@HuntedCupCake Yeah but remember Activision is still in the head of Blizzard. Right now the family of the company is Microsoft - Activision - Blizzard. We need to see what will happen but changes take time in project like this and even if Microsoft for example gives resources to OW to double the content, we would't see those results until final 2025 or early 2026. Hope things has changed on Axtivision-Blizzard after the lay off of Kotick and Ybarra, but there are so much directives still in the company wich continue having that mentality of "money over love for players", while Blizzard mentality was always he opposite. One result of that mentality for example was the cancelation of the Blizzcon, an event that made Blizzard lose money but was purely to show love to the players and was cut over the years because of Activision politics. You can find all this info on Jason Schreier book. But well, as you, I hope this changes with Microsoft there. Blizzard is my childhood and have magical sagas for me, hope someday we can see that old Blizzard again, but in general they are having problems with all their games, OW well, we know well everything that happened, Diablo 4 is in a pretty bad state, even if it improved a lot over the past year, and WoW, well I don't play WoW rifht now anymore but ton of people told me that it isn't in its best state. Hope we can see changes on 2025 on all their sagas and company dinamics, but right now, with big competitors like Marvel Rivals and PoE2 they need to change things. I don't like MR tbh, but I enjoyed much more the EA of PoE2 in this weekend than the last seasons of Diablo 4, which indeed made me a little it upset because if you want to enjoy the endgame you need to pay 40€ for the DLC, which introduces mechanics that were going to be on the game at release but were delayed to be polished (the runes and rune words). Those for example are the type of things they need to change, and I hope they do.
This video was beautifully well made and I genuinely enjoyed the progression of the video from the initial fond memories, the excitement for something even greater, the absolute letdown, and the hope for a better future Overwatch has been a really fond game of mine and I really do miss the old days of coming home from school and absolutely going crazy with my favorite characters with 6v6 n such plus finding a team with the team find feature on the game, and even though the social aspect on Overwatch 2 needs crazy work, after playing the old overwatch event, I find that I personally (varies to person) enjoy playing Overwatch 2 as well. I may not be able to play old turret support Sym, but I enjoy the high mobility and multipurpose of Juno! I’m not saying OW 2 is on par with its original state, but what I’m saying is finding enjoyment even in a game with many mistakes is fun bc it’s still the old game I used to play. I didn’t intend to say such a long message but what I do wanna say is this.. The end game music at the end of the video was too far, I got so heartfelt and then you put the end game music to make it even more so, how could you do this to me .. 😿
i just need them to optimize MR. I run the game at like 40 frames at 1280x720 all low while I run OW2 at 150 frames at 1280x960. Even at 40 frames though, the game is still an absolute blast
The choice of adding MvC2 music is perfect. As someone who finally got to play it thanks to the collection, and recently took a crash course through its competitive history, I feel a similar vibe coming from MvC2 and OW somehow. The vibe of just grinding the game, learning how characters play, learning lore, facing challenges, improving while other people improve as well for years and years to come. A timeless multiplayer classic. That's something that doesn't come very often. Overwatch is special to me and will remain to this day until I literally cannot play it any more. They would have to take it away from me haha.
Good video! Surprised to see the low sub count. I think Overwatch is trending towards brighter times. The major problems it has are i think for the most part problems you'll see in any shooter/hero-based game (i.e. balance, toxicity, etc). Its great to see that the devs love their game and are trying to make it as good as they can despite their parent company trying their absolute best to kill it. Here's to hoping the 6v6 tests go well, and that OW and MR bring out the best in each other! You'll find me optimistically chilling in my home: the gold lobbies
Overwatch for me is so good for any situation. I sometimes play to meditate and think about conflicts and issues in my life. Sometimes I throw a podcast and play OW in the background. Sometimes I lock in and sweat my ass off. Once you really know the game you can choose what you want out of the game
I think Rivals shows that the game doesn't need to be perfectly balanced and competitively optimized to be fun. Hopefully they'll take some inspiration from it. I see it the same as Simodo suggested. You get 2 cakes instead of one; plus they'll be competing to be better than one another which is another +
I just played the entirety of Season 13, and had absolutely 0 idea this gamemode existed. At first I thought you were talking Wrath of the Bride. If I knew this existed I would've played it a bit more!
16:02 Great choice with the cyberpunk music there Edit: 24:14 This meme is exactly how people should be seeing Rivals compared to OW, us players only have to win with another competitor on the race
Holy, amazing video! I clicked on it expecting to watch only a couple of minutes but I got instantly hooked and had to watch till the end. your style of storytelling and narrating is amazing!! I love overwatch and I think that they really mastered the pvp part of it, a huge improvement (with some flaws ofc) from ow1, however the pve cancellation is a sin that can never be forgiven. There really is no other game out there with such a creative and amazingly put together world and characters like overwatch.
A high quality 30 min videos, deserves a sub! I love Overwatch but when they remove pve. I had give up this game. So please dev, give us some big update. Otherwise, this game will continue going dead.
Thanks yt for this awesome video recommendation... I didn't even realize you had such little subs! Good videoman, I share the same feelings for the game.
Hey Thanks for this video. I've been thinking deeply on where overwatch went wrong. Since classic came out(which is the most fun I've had in overwatch in a long time) I've ended up writing several pages of an essay on the topic. I was considering making a video on it, but I have no experience in video editing. I think you covered many of the ideas I want to say. The casual perspective is a quiet voice in the community, more often I hear the voice of streamers wanting more and more competitive favored changes to the game. I also never played or had heard of Junksteins lab! It looked super fun. Team 4 at blizz is still a huge team, they have the man power to get overwatch back on course and they continue to point in the right direction. I'll see ya in the 6v6 playtest.
Something I want to point out is the fact that I've experienced the same level of Toxicity in OW2 as in OW1. I mean it was a meme back in the day about how salty the game was. I think what probably changed is your attitude to it
@@sowoul_ usually people who says this will only say the same that Samito says in his videos... Personally, I prefer ow1 gameplay, because of tank synergies and the expanded possibilities. But tbh, ow2 isn't as much bad in gameplay terms, and the meta changes every month. But well, 6v6 comes next week and for that part of the community that prefer that format over 5v5 it will be a blast (I want so much to play it haha, I hope all the people that has been hating 5v5 this 2 years jump there to play the game, but personally I just doubt, ton of people that hate 5v5 just want a reason to hate it and aren't going to play even if they add 6v6 back)
I agree with absolutely everything you said. Personally, I couldn't really get into Marvel Rivals. I'm convinced that it won't be an Overwatch killer simply because they play very differently. And I just like Overwatch's gameplay better.
Hey, nice video!!! Seeing this I had an idea. What if instead of making the pve they pick all those ideas of the pve and they introduce them on a permanent mode like junkerstein laboratory? I mean, the biggest problem of OW PvE development was that it just didn't work, they didn't had a way to make it fun, even with hero progression system, all the heroes of ow and his habilites were made to work on PvP and the harder part of the development was trying to find ways of transform the characters to a PvE mentality without killing the identity of heroes. but things like sombra, were just impossible to transport to PvE. But this PvP mode just fix that, they can develop around the design of the heroes, they can make crazy things and transport those systems they cancelled to a new mode were instead of fight against basic and boring bots, we fight against other players, we make synergies and we have fun. It also solves a big problem of modern OW and it's how with the philosophy of making a competitive game and balance everything, they killed the craziness of the OG OW, and this is something we could notice with Classic. Modern OW is a better competitive game, but OG OW it's just a funnier game in general. This would bring back that crazy and fun aspect of the og overwatch but multiplied x10, with an infinite possibility of expansion and without a really need of balance, because man, it's just fun, and like happens in Marvel Rivals for example, that fun aspect becomes in big part from the unbalance and the crazy things you can do. This way they could have all the pve stuff reutiliced, and 2 main game modes, Normal OW (most balanced and competitive) and Junkerstain OW (more crazy and funnier to play).
I’m totally enjoying Marvels, but Overwatch is still my number one love. I’ll be playing it often for as long as the servers are online. Thanks for the retrospection.
Crazy to think back on first ow2 seasons problems and dramas and me, just here, happy to see the game live again after it dying out for so long. No matter what happens I will stay glad and positive❤
Ow2 at launch was miserable compared to the final stages of ow1, but ow2 now is so far better than what it was at launch. With 6v6 coming soon I’m hoping that it can become a permanent mode within the next year or so and we can finally have almost everything we lost when they switched to the 2.
"Never accept the world as it appears to be, dare to see it for what it could be." - Dr. Harold Winston. Instead of wallowing in what we lost like I've seen so many players and content creators do, look towards the future. Look to how we can make a better Overwatch together. Isn't that the entire lesson of the game? To imagine a brighter future?
There will never be a game like overwatch, it set the world ablaze, people loved it so much, introduced fps to so many people, great cinematics, and many many many memes. It is a shell of it once was -and it is only due to people’s love they hate on it so much, no one could hate more than it’s on fans. I feel for this game.
I played when this game dropped in 2016. Came back 2023 and I was gob smacked they still had a lot of the same maps like kings row. I would love a junkenstein game mode system, a lot of the abilities getting an entire rework just for it to not stay in the game is wasted potential and in fact, I've been enjoying the new game modes more than the core modes.
Low-key tearing up watching this. I just hit T500 after 7 years playing on and off. Regardless of the game’s history and flaws the gameplay and balance are nearly perfect in my opinion.
the last game that hook me for hours is Diablo II, Overwatch II is just special for me, it brings back the feeling, to be honest I don't know why until I found your video, it's all there. The point why I play game is to have fun, and overwatch II is the game I am looking for. Thanks for the video.

I think Rivals shows that the game doesn't need to be perfectly balanced and competitively optimized to be fun. Hopefully they'll take some inspiration from it. I see it the same as Simodo suggested. You get 2 cakes instead of one; plus they'll be competing to be better than one another which is another +
"pain" and then it's just a game you can log off if you're feeling the so called "pain"
The drama queens y'all are
Competition is healthy for the genre. Overwatch will be forced to improve
incredible video, was nice to hear some positivity on the good parts of this game for once
This video is very well done and well edited, good job and keep going bro ❤
I just played the entirety of Season 13, and had absolutely 0 idea this gamemode existed. At first I thought you were talking Wrath of the Bride. If I knew this existed I would've played it a bit more!
16:02 Great choice with the cyberpunk music there
Edit: 24:14 This meme is exactly how people should be seeing Rivals compared to OW, us players only have to win with another competitor on the race
Really nice vid hope it gets some more love
I miss overwatch but I don’t think I’ll ever go back. I would rather is be a good memory than to see it be a shell of its former self
It’s the same game. What’s wrong with you
@ lol
Overwatch at its peak for me, was like crack and Saturday morning cartoons.
Devs need to be able to say “we f’d up sorry we’re rolling everything back and going to try again” but they can’t or they’d lose their jobs.
Glad to say I stumbled upon this channel early, keep it up man you're gonna explode pretty soon your videos are magnificent
Well, you’re making my heart hurt
Crazy this released. ON Marvel Rivals. I played OW since release. I will edit this comment to see if I agree with you or not.
Thanks yt for this awesome video recommendation... I didn't even realize you had such little subs! Good videoman, I share the same feelings for the game.
Now that Marvel Rivals is out I really miss Overwatch it was so good
Beautiful video, sometimes i feel like i'm the only one who actually like the game
We REALLY need quality cinematics back. There is just no hype with these Paladins quality clips they make now.
Winstons quote at around 19:17 fit so perfectly 😢
This is a great video !

9:30 hurts so much seeing what amazing stuff we could've gotten
I loved overwatch so much that my life revolved around it. I am still too hurt when I look at it based on all of Overwatch 2’s betrayals of my trust.
I think what probably changed is your attitude to it
nice requiem for Overwatch
I get the sentiment but... nope they just buffed orisa. Back to MR fellas 🗣
Caught this while booting up OW2, cant play for more than 20 minutes just because of how bad it feels to play, god I miss how this game used to feel.
and whys that? Why does it feel bad? Care to elaborate?
Lol. It feels better than 90% of metas in OW1.
Either burn out or delusion, call it
Skill issue ngl me and my girl and the boys easily put several hours in it before rivals (since we play both) maybe you just suck 🤷♂️
OMG thanks for reminding of DPSStanky, I'm still subscribe to his channel, sadly he has not posted a OW video in over 2 years.
Oh shoot, a small account making great video!!! You got my support. I'm going to be ab OG when you hit 1mil subs🎉🎉
You need more subs bc what you say has got potent hints of truth to it.
OW till we die.
+ 1 from me.
Man, that gave me chills!!
Man i love this game. I have so many good memories on it.
In the words of videogamedonkey "mastapiece"
I’m totally enjoying Marvels, but Overwatch is still my number one love. I’ll be playing it often for as long as the servers are online. Thanks for the retrospection.
I watched one of the first trailers of OW, Mccree and Zen killing shit...and that was that. Fell in love and still am
I shed a single tear everytime I think about the Reinheart movie
19:02 Damn, this scene always tears me up :,)
Crazy to think back on first ow2 seasons problems and dramas and me, just here, happy to see the game live again after it dying out for so long. No matter what happens I will stay glad and positive❤
My own personal experience with OW 1 and 2 are very similar. Thanks for speaking out.
Only reason GOATS is viewed as insufferable is the fact that is lasted for so long. Top 3 meta in the history of the game
Great video mate
We can't. Its the devs job
By the time a lot of the characters you talked about came out (Hammond, Baptiste, Orisa etc…) it was already on its last legs compared to the origins
How tf are you not a big creator? This video was amazing and visualized most of my childhood playing OW1 and the dissapointments of OW2.
Maybe the overwatch is the friends we made along the way❤
Damn this gave me so mucj nostalgia
We arenso addicted to "new" things that we will push away a good th8ng for a new thing thats not as good as the old thing.
junk lab was BY FAR the best event they did
Mythic video fr, deserves a sub 🫶
mythical youtube FYP pull
Did bro just say “chill off”? …👀
In hindsight, its quite outstanding how influential this game was.
Also obligatory shoutout to the "Orange youtube" content of this game XD.
Lucio got Spotify Premium! LMAO!!
I THOUGHT EVERYONE FORGOT ABOUT WRAXU. I miss old hanzo :(. Played the game for the first time since his rework earlier when the classic mode came out. Man, miss the days.
