I have the M10 model of this bike and I love it; I find it playful enough for me to have fun on jumps and mess about jibbing etc and it is so capable and stable at going fast when you want to. Best bike I have ever ridden, made me a whole lot faster and more confident, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a bike in this category.
Late to MTB'ing, this was my first new bike purchase, receiving it not even two weeks ago. Ordered it through the MyO program. I know I'm inexperienced (that's only temporary) but I love this bike. I'm still in need of getting the suspension dialed in, but you nailed it with the pros and cons. Being an ex moto road racer, I'm more on the "planted" rider and this bike really creates confidence when riding. As soon as mother nature gets her head out of her arse out here in California, I plan on being on this thing every chance I get.
I would like to add that if anyone is interested, the Invis kit specifically for this bike is awesome. A shout out to Orbea, their rep flew out to install it before assembly when the bike shop hesitated. Thanks for the video
One of my favorite comedy’s, The Princess Bride. Andre, we miss you. Would definitely ride this bike, just need someone to buy it for me.
Lol I've had this bike for almost 2 years and that split pivot thing was news to me, didn't even know my rear triangle did that, nice!
Hola Amigos, ok , perfecto, gracias por hablar Castellano,(Español) Orbea número 1, un saludo desde Paracuellos de Jarama, Madrid, España.
"My name is Inigo Montoya. You stole my Orbea Rallon. Prepare to die !"
Nice bike.
it will be my next MTB by 2020.
my brother just bought an orbea occam tr. 29 inches. He'll get it next week and he's like a toddler. Can hardly wait until it comes.
Love mine. I'm running the DPX2, and it's definitely more playful than with the X2. However, the trails I frequent (CO front range) are very rocky, and the plushness of the X2 would have worked better here. When this bike came out, the steep seat tube, slack head angle, and short offset fork were considered progressive. Now everyone is specifying short offset forks, and the angles are far more extreme. To me, the geometry of this bike is perfect for a daily rider. I do everything from short, technical climbs with steep, technical descents to 25+ mile, relatively mellow rides. It may not be the fastest at any single section of trail, but it's definitely better rounded than any other bike I've ridden with a similar amount of travel.
I have had one of these for the past 3 months. I raced it 4 times already. I could not agree more with all that was said in this review. The suspension is amazing but indeed needs some tweaking to make it more lively.
Just what I’ve wanted to watch for years
Speaking of crazy geometry, I'd like to hear your opinion specialized stumpjumper evo, especially compared to the enduro.
I rented this bike to do Dakota Ridge in Colorado last month and was able to do a nice comparison with my Rocky Mountain Instinct. I disagree with the climbing comment as I thought the Instinct is easier to keep moving uphill. However, I totally agree with the feel of the Orbea on downhill technical sections. It’s very plush, and really soaks up the chatter which is great for Dakota ridge. In my experience I’d give climbing and playfulness to the Instinct, tech sections and drops to the Orbea.
After test riding about every long travel 29’er on the market I have the Rallon on order after custom building through the MyO platform. Thanks for the review! Will let you know how mine goes.
I like the Princess Bride computer backround, in the back
Do you have plans to review the Orbea Occam?
Bought the 2018 on sale at my LBS for $4250. Added carbon wheels and updated the linkage to the 2020 version. Extended the Fox 36 to 170 and added Grip2 damper. Best bike I have ever owned, and I've owned a lot. Fantastic bike, only competitors would be Ripmo, Enduro, Sentinel, Megatower. This bike is completely underrated.
Cheers for the review , I sat on one yesterday in the UK ..now im due a walletoscapey to the tune of £5k ,god its a very pretty bike
You could of just said, "this geometry is so last year, but last year was pretty damn good"
“I’m Jeff” 😟 also great review. I’ve never heard of Orbea until you guys.
hey nice video but i have a question, IS IT OLD SCHOOL BY ANY MEANS?
I have the 2018 rallon M10 in Turquoise 29er carbon with 160front n 160rear travel in an xl. Its brilliant on corners jumps drops n technical stuff.! One of the best Enduro bikes Ive bought its the absolute b****x best £4000 Ive ever spent.!
I have named it “The Beast”
This may be my next bike saving up for one.
Please give us the Revel Rascal review already!
And check out those PiRope wheels! I think you’d really like them ;)
Still my fav bike chan🤙🤙🔥🔥
Nice review. At 5'8", you should be on a S/M according to Orbea Rallon sizing. If you are in between sizes and want it to be more playful, they suggest you go with the smaller size. I would love to see another review after you tried the S/M.
Jeff honestly it looks like a mirror image of the specialized stump jumper
Great looking bike.
This bike looks damn fun!
Muy buen review !! Saludos desde baja California
Revel Rascal is my only mountain bike. I couldn’t be happier!
Sold brand....has been for years in road bike segment...I have an alma which a super fast xc mtb...they are never cutting edge but do eveything well and with quality. Price is a factor...I also can call out Customer Service when I have needed it as excellent. I am looking to. Purchase a long to mid 29 so can consider this one but is a budget buster.
I want one of those shirts. Good for riding in?
I love to see this thing vs the new stumpy Evo and the Scott Genius
Clean Bike there
damn what a beauty!! Correct me if im wrong but from this review i would say the bike is probably more suited to racers rather than your typical have fun playful rider...
Jajajaja esta bien la pronunciación.. don’t worry amigo ..✌🏻
"When you're pedaling the bike moves, that's awesome" well, yeah, I guess that's all you need to know about bikes in the end :-)
There are bikes that seems to stall, you pedal to keep moving, but give it less power and you ll stop. Been there....
When you going to do Ripmo review? Best climbing LT29er
Do a review on rockshox 35 love the price but nobody is reviewing it.
Can you guys do a review on the 2019 Bronson?
I have the 2016 Rallon with Fox. I can not make that thing feel playful in the rear either. also the fox 34 at 160 mm is pretty flexy.
How’s it climb compared to a ripmo?
I wonder how Orbea compares to other boutique brands such as Yeti or Ibis? I'm curious about this brand.
How does it pair with yeti sb150? Mainly Im asking for frame side of things.
Hey WorldWideCyclery, when are you guys having your YETI, TRANSITION, DAVINCI, or EVIL demo bike day??? I missed the one on April 28. Any other ones??
Bummer! We do not have one scheduled yet but you will hear about it if you keep an eye on our social media!
Any chance of you guys doing a following MB review? Thanks
Yup! We did a comparison between that and the SB4.5. Check it out - ua-cam.com/video/gzMPrAxArZE/v-deo.html
Is it 150 mm upfront and 140 mm out back if so I’ve got a fox float X2 on my specialized stump jumper
As always a Great review, so People with not so much knowledge understand and a joy for The tech/bike addicted human to watch.
How to you like European brand bikes in generell? Since im european :), wich EU brand would you say is The most "boutique" if you have it in The is?
Regards
@@binkzera2777 yes of course but you Will have to wait 1-2 years as production is uniqe so yes of you own a UNNO its for sure The most boutique but for a bike that you can actually buy and get in a descent time frame wich brands?
Gustav Bergström Well then there are brands like Hope, Orange, Pole and Mondraker. There are tons of other manufacturers too, these are just off the top of my head.
Ibis ripmo review?
The Stumpjumper has that frame brace. The enduro has the x-wing layout.😏
What is the brand of the bag directly above the cranks?
Like... pelo "Olá Amigos"... Top a (Extreme) Bike mas é para quem curte o MTB Radical na veia..... não adianta só ter para mostrar condição $$$$ e passear no Asfalto. (no Street)
If a Yeti is for dentists... Is this bike for neurosurgeons?
Orbea's US pricing is all over the place. You definitely have to pick the most cost effective build available at the time. I ended up paying $8k a week prior.
Im currently deciding if i'm going for the cruz or the orbea. I could buy a hightower with a shimano xt gear or the orbea with a sram xo1 can anyone help me pls?
Orbea has been making bigger trail bikes since at least 2008 AFAIK. No one ever gives them any credit haha
Just a heads up for all Rallon owners, male sure that you loctite the bolts on the rear axle!! I nearly lost mine when I was mid enduro race!
Are you talking about the the rear axel pivot hardware or the actual axel???
BKXC warned us. It was quite loose from the factory. I bought a DeWalt 22mm open end wrench and tightened the pivot well. 1 year of hard riding and it hasn't budged.
That or an sb150?
27.5 Rallon is the shit.
Awesome bike. Just be prepared to loose weeks of your life trying to pick your colors!
Split pivot looks like a work around to specialized ownership of the horst link? This looks like a stumpjumper
There is a replica of this bike that is also for enduro
But its frame is alloy
Here's the pronunciation Jeff.
There are no long vowels in Spanish so the "A" is a short "A" and the double "LL" s sound like a letter "Y"
So... It's pronounced " Ra- yone"
Hope that helps bud.
But do you over cook the corners with frijoles ...?🥴
One o my mates got a rallon and hes way faster now.
Does anyone else think it looks like a stumpjumper
@shiftmtb
This thing....
Good review but in the future please go over all components of the bike before telling us how it rides😊
Orb-WHO?!?
IBIS Ripmo frame $3000 & 5lbs
Orbea frame $4000 & ??Weight?? *They're ashamed to say*
Orb-WHO?!?
Can
How much is the bike?
I'm able to pay it only 700$
Im poor
Look like specialized stumpjumper
rah-yone
its pronounced ray-oen
It's not. It's Ryon with the o pronounced like in hot. For example, ua-cam.com/video/CDmEcoWLBsY/v-deo.html
This review is a bit funky. My Rallon is super playful... it doesn’t really feel like a 29er. For a 31lb bike it doesn’t feel like one. It wheelies super well, pedals well and it’s comfortable for long up hills. It’s slightly higher bb prevents pedal strikes. As far as the price, I think you get what you pay for. The build kits are very value driven. For $5k you can get a sweet build. For $7k you can get a hero build. I wish the cable routing was a little more santacruzish. Other than that it’s a pretty sweet bike.
The Rallon rides similar to the specialized stump jumper but with a little bit more reach, in a good way. It comes in a smedium. Which is nice if you’re in between sizes. It’s a much more comfortable pedaling bike than the more progressive long bikes like a sb130, foxy, megatower, etc. I personally think it handles just as good if not better than my 2016 Bronson in corners and jumps. Pretty cool too that you don’t have to have the same exact bike as every other Rallon owner, especially when you spend $7500. I was able to choose my shock, brakes, dropper, wheels. The myo can take a few months so I stayed with the stock color. I was surprised it only took 5 days to get from Spain. Orbea USA is located in Arkansas and the two times I called someone was on the phone with help. Can’t say the same for other American boutique brands.
@@sPGgwUxYrSd7Cf5H Based on the reviews I've read, it would seem most people are of the opinion that the stumpjumper is a playful and poppy trail/all-mountain bike. Where as it seems most people feel the rallon is a more planted, descender enduro type of bike. Interesting too, because I feel like the rallon looks heavily inspired by the stumpjumper atleast in terms of frame design. I'd like to see them side by side just for frame comparisons sake.
The stump jumper came out after the Rallon. The stumpjumper has a 5mm shorter reach. It was super playful but felt too short for me. The Rallon has shorter chain stays and a steeper seat tube angle. Most of the review of the Rallon I read before buying said it was very playful. I agree after riding mine a bit.
Looks awesome..! I was totally onboard until you got to cost.. ridiculous.. the frame is round what I paid for a bike with top spec not long ago. Wake up bike industry l!
If you could only have one bike, would it be the Rallon? Or would it be something else? Let us know!
I have this one in ltd Edition. So definetly not better climber than the Scott genius...
Shapeshifter on Strive makes it quite awesome 'do it all bike', especially in the enduro category.
Would personaly perhaps chose something a bit more lighter trail bike.
For the money yt jeefsy cf pro race $5499.
Love the bike!
I would have the new ibis ripley (and will have).
