Well, I am envious. When I was growing up, my parents, who were adventurous took me on two occasions by car from Michigan to Acapulco in the late 60's and early 70's. Such a great experience. First trip we followed the Pan American highway to Mexico City and then down to Acapulco through Taxco. The second trip we even got more adventurous when we went through Durango, Mazatlan, Guadalajara, Mexico City and then Acapulco. Both times done in a car without AC. I wanted to create the same experience for my children but chickened out so we flew into many cities for them to experience Mexico. How I appreciate you doing this on your own, which is still a dream of mine.
That's AWESOME that they took you on such fun adventures growing up! You'll have to give it a go by car/vehicle sometime soon. Bonus -- you'll have A/C! And even though you chickened out by car, things change. And at least you still went :) - Liz
@@faithrada Yes, the last time we took our children there was in the early 1990's. We made the trip twice. Felt fairly safe but I know it is different now. It was a nice and friendly town back in the 60's. We still talk about the cliff divers in Acapulco.
This will be our second time here in our RV. We've driven over 3,000 miles all together now and haven't had a negative experience. We've found border towns are the most dangerous and targeted areas for highway theft and robbery and are generally safe. Baja or mainland. - Liz

Welcome back to Mexico. .. for those of us who ALWAYS come back, MONTEZUMA never fails - Love you guys and wish you ALL the best in your Mexican endeavors - WONDERFUL country... BUT always be on the alert...
Have you traveled through Baja California? I would love it if you would. Start in Tijuana, camp in Rosarito, Las cañadas in Ensenada, La Joya campground in Ensenada, visit the bufadora and continue all the way down to Cabo. Please.
I feel so sorry for you and your illness. That is probably the one thing which causes me the most worry when traveling. I’m an avid cruiser and the biggest concern for cruisers is Noro. I wish both of you the best.
My go-tos when I'm in Mexico and I get "stomach problems" is fresh ginger (jengibre) or spearmint (hierba buena) if I can't find ginger (extremely rare). I make a lot of ginger tea and drink it hot. The spearmint leaves work best straight but you can also drink spearmint tea. Drink the ginger/spearmint as soon as you feel the uneasiness or nauseousness coming on. The sooner you drink it, the sooner you recover. If you are feeling really bad and throwing up just sip it.
Thank you for sharing your Mexicali experiences. One thing I learned (the hard way) from traveling in South America, is avoid the ice. More than likely filtered water is not used to make the ice. Continue having a great time and be safe. Thanks again for sharing.
I assume you can get Amazon delivery down there? Are the coconut blocks easy to come by in Mexico for the compost toilet? I don’t think I could do any work there straight beach time.
🤣 Not gonna lie it's HARD. I just want to play and rest all the time here. But works got to get done. We ordered a lot of extra blocks before coming, and they have them at home depots. So if we're near a big city we should be able to find them. But yes, worst case scenario we can order from Amazon Mexico. - Liz
You guys really planned your trip well! El Mirador would have been our second stop had we not spent so much time in Bahia de Kino, but instead we drove to Mazatlan as fast as possible to see my mom, who winters there. Celestino was also on my list, but never got there. Such an epic location. We got lucky and had no bouts of la turista in a four month trip. Respect for your covid precautions.
Glad the surprise toll has been explained. Take time to relax- fatigue can be a illness source and you just don't want to be sick while traveling. ( but I bet you know that) Gorgeous beaches, fabulous camping grounds.l Just enjoy! 🙏❤️👍🙋♀️🎥🌷
Thanks Oma! You're right we've been working on recentering ourselves and finding more of a daily routine. We definitely don't want to get burnt out. Thank you for the reminder and for traveling with us every week! - Dennis ✌️
I really appreciate the "real" experiences - it not a deterrent for us, but good to understand that as with all international travel, there are things to cope with = language, political customs, etc. Looks like you learned a lot from your original trip and it's making it a little easier this time. ENJOY and happy thanksgiving!
Thank you for this video. Sorry you were sick Liz. Glad that Dennis wasn’t sick too. Glad you are feeling better and had a nice time where you were at. Beautiful places too I might add. That drink you had after you were sick at that one place looked real good I Fitbit what you called it. Coconut something I think not sure. You said was good too. Well have a great week and see you soon! Stay safe and travel safe.
@@EatSeeRV Oh ok! Thank you! It sounded so good for some reason. It made want to try it. The COVID here is getting pretty bad. Closing a few states up. Hope you have fun in your next adventure. Stay safe.
I have been in Koala, such a nice place and I am sorry you missed the ceviche in Koala's restaurant, it is so good! BTW few times per year the water of the lagoon turns turqoise! and it looks amaizing!
I'm sorry we missed Koalas too! We will remember that for next time. That beach was already amazing it would be incredible with turquoise water! - Dennis 🤯
Whew, what a week! Glad you found a tranquillo spot to regroup. Gross logistics question.... when you vomit, can it go in the composting toilet? Through the interwebs eyes I was recommended an expat channel (Eternal Expat); she has been giving condition reports around Mexico. She was in Guadalajara last video (she’s based in CDMX).
Thank you for the suggestion! That's awesome to have other channels sharing their experiences in each place. No I had to do it outside. Luckily I was on a private beach with no one around! Haha - Liz
The Santa María del Oro lake is actually a crater lake, to arrive there you have to go down the crater. The goverment had to intervene and divert the course of some streams and redirect them to the lake, because the natural water level was decreasing. All of that region is part of the western Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt. The San Blas - Tepic toll road is a 20 minutes ride and it delivers you directly to the Matanchen Bay, which is a nice attraction of that area. You could find an RV park in the port of San Blas or right on the Matanchen Bay. La Tovara Nature Reserve has boat tours through the mangroves, pretty nice to watch birds and crocodiles. The San Basilio fort ruins in San Blas has great views over the surrounding area and the ocean.
Great vlog as usual. So informative and you guys are such great travelers, balancing fun and safety. Thanks for all the info and tips. Have a great week. See you next Monday!
I also encountered the locals collecting at the abandoned toll booths.. actually kinda cool! I adore the Mexican people, they are "Muy Amable" :) Hopefully I am going back again soon! Thanks so much for sharing your adventures! That beautiful lake looks like a great camping site!!
We both ate the exact same thing and Dennis is fine. So it could just be that he has a stronger stomach than me? We had shellfish the first night, it very well could have been that, but I think it was just my stomach adjusting in general. - Liz
Most people just blame the last thing they are. But different food borne illnesses have different incubation times. It’s very hard to find out what caused it without a health system that promotes tracking and multiple examples. I’ve worked in restaurants most of my life and have given many free meals because people were sick at the restaurant. They blame their appetizers or their dinner but it’s usually something they made at home the day before or we would have more then one report in a few days.
@@EatSeeRV Slippery Elm tea is amazing, but I didn't realize it was good for food poison .. awesome! I usually travel with Activated Charcoal for stomach issues it clears them out pretty quick! ( Learned from working in ER) I have also found great remedies in Natural farmacias For example "wormwood extract" Clove, and Black walnut extract.. those are used by locals for parasites. Stay well!!
Yes very true I try to stay away from Sea Food and always Drink bottled water another one stay away from milk you never know what you’re going to get sick from
Great video. Did your Mercedes RV have a Dodge emblem on the steering wheel? Beautiful locations. Hope to be down there soon. I just saw where the border is closed to tourism till Nov 21 and then they will re-evaluate
Thank you guys so much for making these great videos and I just become a new subscriber going back and look at some of the ones that you've done because I would like to travel in Mexico come across this when I'm so sorry you're sick and not feeling well and I know things are going to get better for you guys thank you for the great work you doing it letting us know what goes on in and how you can travel down there in Mexico so you guys continue to be safe
Do your cats ever try to shoot outside when you open a door? We have one escape artist that will sneak out whenever he can and we worry about him running away. Love your videos, especially of Mexico.
I grew hearing that that lake in santa maria it's a collapse volcano crater, that for thousands of years filled with rain water, and also it's believed that it's interconnected with the lake at san Pedro lagunillas, not sure if it's true thou!! I grew up in the city of Tepic by the way..
That's awesome, thank you for sharing! We didn't get to explore Tepic but we heard from others it was a nice place to visit. If you have any suggestions about places or things to do around Tepic send them our way! - Dennis ✌️
@@EatSeeRV hey Denis, unfortunately I haven't being in Tepic in 22 years, and what I remember probably isn't anymore, but it's a great place for anyone trying to learn Spanish, because it's not a big touristic city.
Another scintillating Gem....maybe your best VLOG yet (ever!).....great vistas....great road footage (love that!!!)......Music choices were best ever (nice job Liz!).....ocean and lagoon footage was epic (I want to swim in that lagoon too)! It seems so far that the cities may be a bit more interesting on your first trip but the landscape is better on this trip??? Glad the toll roads issue got figured out but very sorry Liz had to endure MontRev..........you guys give us Subs what we want.....THANK YOU.
Glad you enjoyed it Cash! We haven't spent much time exploring the cities this time around because we have been moving so quickly. Once we make it to Patzcuaro we will be exploring the streets a lot more! - Dennis ✌️
If you do get a chance, do visit Puerto Vicente, Guerrero (about an 11 hour drive south from where you are now). There is a very small town on the harbor, with a fishing village. Take candy for the kids (they will be swarming around you) and locals will really love it if you take good care of the children. Highly Recommended. A fisherman's paradise with Surf fishing for Roosterfish being the best in the world.
Hotep! I'm about to drive my Class A through Mexico... I enjoyed watching your videos! Can send me a list of the places that y'all visited and the names of the RV parks? I can contribute.
We share the names in the videos so you can write them down. If you're doing middle to eastern Mexico we have a complete RV guide with all of our stops. We haven't done western Mexico yet though.
It's usually pretty good! but, If the campsites wifi is no so great we buy a 2 hour unlimited internet packet on our Telcel prepaid sim card and hotspot when necessary. - Dennis ✌️ BTW, Liz has created a guide to Mexico that answers this question and many more you may have about RVing Mexico. Check it out here 👇 www.eatseerv.com/rvmexico
Most formal rv parks have everything you'd expect including dumps at the sites. The west coast rv parks seems more similar to USA or Canada standards. There are no dump stations out and about like in the USA. Informal campgrounds often won't have any either. There are big RVs at formal campgrounds. iOverlander is good at telling you what sizes will fit. Mexico is definitely made for smaller rigs but we've seen fifth wheels and class A's
I spent one night barfing my guts out, without speaking of the other end, the food in mexico es muy rico, but im always scared it will happen again, np now since locked down in Canada with 2 feet of snow. Hope to be back in Mexico with PeptoB next winter!
Yikes dude! 😬 I hope that doesn't happen to you again. Backside disaster is one thing but barfing is never fun. But both at the same time sounds awful! - Dennis 🖖
If you guys are heading east, I'd recommend visiting Mazamitla, Guachimontes, and specially Lake Camecuaro. If you make it to Morelia which is a UNESCO heritage site and the second nicest colonial city in Mexico in my humble opinion. I can give you a free tour of my town.
Nice video. Some beautiful sites and sunsets. Thanks. But it also reminded me of the Rodney Dangerfield joke, "I hate dating. For me the eight hours of BS just aren't worth the eight seconds of pleasure." ha ha Have fun and stay safe & healthy.
I really think if we ever head to Mexico we will still travel with a group or another friend. Not by ourselves just yet. Now if I was by myself I would go it alone no problem. Villa Celesta is a place I need to go. Cheers!!!
We love your videos and follow you both every Monday :-) Will be traveling to Tulum Mexico from Colorado soon I'll make sure we review all your tips please let me know if there is something else we should look for. Can you send me a screen shot of the route you took please. Muchas Gracias
Hi Limary! Sounds like you're in for quite an adventure. You can screen shot the video if you'd like. Or purchase our RV guide to Mexico. However that is the eastern and central part of Mexico. We'll have a guide for the Yucatan summer time. Safe travels! - Liz
How do you purchase #2 highway low sulfur diesel that is required for the MB Sprinter Bluetec engine? I thought low sulfur diesel was not available in Mexico ?
IDK? We've been filling up with Diesel Cetane 45 usually from Pemex stations. I don't think our Sprinter has the Bluetec designation and only has DPF emissions. It doesn't run any differently than when we were filling up in the US. This is our second trip to Mexico this year and I haven't noticed a difference in performance either time or upon returning to the US. Hope this helps. - Dennis ✌️
@@EatSeeRV I dont want to alarm but My 2015 MB 3500 is a V6 Bluetec Diesel with DEF and particulate filter catalytic converter an requires ULSD ultra low sulfur diesel fuel. Possibly your rig is older not required to use ultra low sulfur diesel. You may want to look through your US version owner's manual if your engine requires ultra low sulfur fuel. High sulfur levels in my Sprinter will void the emissions warranty and possibly clog the particulate filter. The Sprinters as well as other Trucks and Busses sold Mexico are manufactured with different engines.
Great video. Drone was super. Glad you zoomed through Sinaloa, bad bad stuff there. But you missed San Carlos, fabulous. You missed magical puebla Alamos, a little east of your route. Maybe on the way back. I assume you carry Imodium and Pepto , who now has stomach pills? You add the disinfectant drops to the veggie wash, yes? Dennis was correct, skip the ice. Drink from bottles or cans. The good news is that the toilet in a RV is only 2 feet from the bed, haha, I have been there - octopus soup got me last time. Pulpo. Stay safe and keep having fun. Thank you.
Hey Edward, glad you enjoyed this week's vlog! We will put your suggestion on the map and possibly stop in when we turn around. We carry an herbal remedy called "slippery elm bark" that coats the stomach similarly to the brands you mentioned. We purchased a concha with a local seafood mixture (pulpo, ray, shrimp, and other shell fish) this is what we believe got Liz sick. It was full fledged food poisoning not just Montezuma's revenge! Thanks for the tips! - Dennis ✌️
It takes time to get used to the water in Mexico! You might try a soft drink, like a Coke from time to time. They don't seem to be as upsetting to the system...maybe its the processing. (At least in my case)
I definitely think it was adapting again. 🙃 Not fun but at least it happened and is done. We actually don't drink soda, haven't had any in over 8 years. - Liz
Hi, I'm Hugo and I live in Durango, nice video but you missed a to n of really nice places. Mazatlan was a great place to visit. We will be traveling the pacific coast pretty soon, me and my girlified hope to meet you some day while we're traveling. Keep enjoying Mexico guys!
Yes we know! We were trying to get to Patzcuaro for dia de muertos so we're on a tight timeline. There were many wonderful places we missed along the way. Thank you for reaching out. It'd be wonderful to meet you. Safe travels!
@@EatSeeRV Dia de muertos was the 2nd of November wasn't it? Unless there is a celebration we don't know about. Or may be they celebrate for many weeks... I'll have to investigate.
As a Clinical Herbalist I appreciate that you are using slippery elm. A great travel standby for food poisoning is a Chinese formula called Kang Nin Wan. Great for traveler's sickness such as nausea, vomiting and food poisoning! Sometimes they are also called Curing Pills. Get some. :)
This is awesome! We will look into that. We've used chinese remedies before as one of our close friends hers her license and degree in chinese medicine. Slippery elm didn't help this time but has come in clutch in the past. Thanks for watching ! - Liz
Hello kate I am love herbal medicine I was wondering if you do any teaching and if not do you recommend any good reading so i can further my knowledge in herbalism. I will be starting my pre nursing and my final goal is to be an MD that combines western medicine with herbs. Thank
LOL, That's a great question George! The stealership we bought our RV from installed a new case awning before we purchased the unit. But... they did not bother to weather seal it (or many other things) properly and it leaked into the RV anytime it rained. Since I had to remove it to fix the leak I opted to leave it off and sell it. Plus, I didn't care for the style of it (no support legs) and it wasn't long enough to cover the campside window so it wasn't very useful. - Dennis ✌️
hello guys ...ive been watching your videos and I love them all; looks like so much fun and I cant wait to get there. But my question or concern is......do you feel safe driving in Mexico still with all the cartel things and have you had any cartels scares since your travels. Im headed to Merida and looking into buying a home, I have dual citizenship but ive never really been in Mexico raised with the American mentality. Thank you again ahead
We haven't had any run ins or personal experience with cartels but that doesn't mean it isn't there. We felt safe on our travels but we also listened to others about when and where to drive or visit and that helped. Many people drive in Mexico without any incident but people have had negative and dangerous experiences, I just don't think it's as wide spread as people think.
New subscriber here. Love your videos. Mexico is on top of my list of countries to visit. Liz, take active charcoal tablets for your upset stomach. It is the best ever to kill the bad bacteria. Thanks for taking us along on your trips
Love your channel and your videos. I watched to see exactly what happened to you guys at the roadblock toll but I still feel like I don't know exactly what transpired. Did you have to give them money for them to drop the rope? Did they just let you go after demanding money? Did they approach your RV or do anything else to make you uncomfortable? I listened to your explanation on the couch but I felt as though I still had questions. Either way you were obviously safe and continued on so glad to see your wonderful adventure continue. Be safe.
We did end up giving the stop with the rope about 15 pesos to pass. They seem to be completely happy with any amount that you toss in the bucket. Unless they are occupying a federal toll booth, then they will have a set price, usually much less than the federal toll price. The unsettling experience Liz described where they were knocking on the side of the RV was in response to us opting to leave the windows up and not interact with them or toss them a few pesos. But they were certainly not overly intimidating or violent about it in any way. From what we can understand through talking with locals and comments given here, these blocks are both a display to raise awareness aboit the unaffordability of toll prices for locals and an effort to gather monetary support for their communities. I hope my effort to explain the experience through travelers eyes is at least close to correct, but I'm sure folks who know better than I will chime in with any necessary corrections. - Dennis ✌️
Nice video, as usual. I am Mexican, and there are some things I never do even though I am a Mexican, like eating hot spicy food, eating food from street vendors, eating raw food, like ceviche or eating greasy food. I skip all that food to prevent stomach diseases. I have seen you guys doing those things and I think you're quite adventurous and brave. About those groups that blockade tolls, I do have some serious doubts thst they actually use the money to support their communities. What they do is against the law. I have questioned them a couple of times about who they are and why they ask for money, but they have never provided me with a satisfactory answer. I have given them some money but rather reluctantly. I can understand perfectly that such encounters may feel many travelers uncomfortable because they have made me feel uncomfortable, too. Hope you keep enjoying Mexico.
We laughed all night at the comment about us being "brave and adventurous" with the foods we eat. Sounds like you have a nice healthy diet, but you are missing out on some tasty foods! If the place is clean and has good refrigeration give it a try. We really only have had stomach problems twice in Mexico. - Liz

Thank you! We have both and drank both to help but I think this was much much worse than that. Glad you take herbal teas like that!
Thank you for sharing your Mexicali experiences. One thing I learned (the hard way) from traveling in South America, is avoid the ice. More than likely filtered water is not used to make the ice. Continue having a great time and be safe. Thanks again for sharing.
Great tip! Thank you. Traveling South America sounds wonderful - Liz
- Liz
Thank you for a beautiful video.. never been to Mexico so it was nice to see thru your travels.. stay safe
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. Hope you stick around and we can show you more of this beautiful country.
I like your show guys saludos de tejas you'll be alright
Glad the surprise toll has been explained. Take time to relax- fatigue can be a illness source and you just don't want to be sick while traveling. ( but I bet you know that) Gorgeous beaches, fabulous camping grounds.l Just enjoy! 🙏❤️👍🙋♀️🎥🌷

@@EatSeeRV 🙏🌷🙋♀️ I look forward to your videos. It's a real treat. Stay safe, keep smiling. Be happy. ❤️
I really appreciate the "real" experiences - it not a deterrent for us, but good to understand that as with all international travel, there are things to cope with = language, political customs, etc. Looks like you learned a lot from your original trip and it's making it a little easier this time. ENJOY and happy thanksgiving!
Glad you like the realness, because you're right these are realities of travel anywhere. Happy thanksgiving to you too! - Liz

Wow thank you for the amazing recommendations!
Great vlog as usual. So informative and you guys are such great travelers, balancing fun and safety. Thanks for all the info and tips. Have a great week. See you next Monday!

Yes once we knew they were quite nice but we weren't sure what to expect. - Liz
Thank you for being honest about your trip do you recall what you ate that day or drink?

I grew hearing that that lake in santa maria it's a collapse volcano crater, that for thousands of years filled with rain water, and also it's believed that it's interconnected with the lake at san Pedro lagunillas, not sure if it's true thou!!
I grew up in the city of Tepic by the way..

That sounds like paradise thanks for the recommendation!

Can we still drive back into the usa or take a bus across back into the usa without a covid test
Yes the test is only required for air travel.
How is internet in Mexico? Are you generally able to support yourself through a workday at the campsites? Thanks for any info :)
It's usually pretty good!
but, If the campsites wifi is no so great we buy a 2 hour unlimited internet packet on our Telcel prepaid sim card and hotspot when necessary. - Dennis ✌️

Si!
QUESTION; I see lots of van-lifers and campers. Do you see any larger RVs down there? More important, are there dump stations available? Thanks.
Yikes dude! 😬
I hope that doesn't happen to you again.
Oh man! We did stop in Morelia for just a day. It is GORGEOUS! We both said wow I would live her in a second. Beautiful, just beautiful!

I really think if we ever head to Mexico we will still travel with a group or another friend. Not by ourselves just yet. Now if I was by myself I would go it alone no problem. Villa Celesta is a place I need to go. Cheers!!!

- Dennis ✌️
@@EatSeeRV Not sure about slippery elm bark, haha??? Everything is slippery enough during ! OK no more pulpo for us !
- Liz
My rule in Mexico is to eat only where I know and if I see refrigeration.

Get some. :)

I'm curious why you guys do not have an RV awning ??
LOL, That's a great question George!
The stealership we bought our RV from installed a new case awning before we purchased the unit. But... they did not bother to weather seal it (or many other things) properly and it leaked into the RV anytime it rained. Since I had to remove it to fix the leak I opted to leave it off and sell it.
Plus, I didn't care for the style of it (no support legs) and it wasn't long enough to cover the campside window so it wasn't very useful. - Dennis ✌️
You seem very comfortable weather wise- what temps have you experienced?
Yeah it's not bad so far. Low 90's at the beaches. - Dennis ✌️
hello guys ...ive been watching your videos and I love them all; looks like so much fun and I cant wait to get there.
Do you ever find any good shells in Mex.?
Bahía de Kino had a ton of awesome shells! - Dennis ✌️
New subscriber here. Love your videos. Mexico is on top of my list of countries to visit. Liz, take active charcoal tablets for your upset stomach. It is the best ever to kill the bad bacteria. Thanks for taking us along on your trips
Thank you! Glad it's fun and inspiring for you. - Liz
- Dennis ✌️
You guys r great,,,having cheers with u
Thank you, cheers! - Dennis 🍻

It's such a great place!
Unless I missed it. Wondering what you paid/donated along the route with the tolls?
Sometimes $15 pesos other times up to $100 depends on the toll.
@@EatSeeRV 100 pesos or dollars?!
