No that’s not an accurate position about expiring contracts. You’re an at-will employee IF and only IF the intention is to extend the working relationship past the contract term. A contract can be fulfilled ones it’s term is completed. Past that contract there are no more legal obligations.

Big corporations always prefer passive violence, and not renewing Jim Trotter's contract is textbook behavior on their behalf.

Love Mike Florio but he is doing with his explanation of the case the same way he is complaining about the 38 page ruling.

Go Mountaineers! I'm originally from Elm Grove. Where did you live in Wheeling, the Friendly City?

I’m so glad I’m not involved in this. We had to let go of an employee because they were stealing time for months on end. We didn’t go after the money, or anything else. We just let them go.
Over two years later, we got a call from an ex employee (who now worked with this person at another job- randomly) letting us know this individual had called the health department and also made claims of racial bias (before you make assumptions, this person who was let go was Caucasian.)
We were not worried, but yet we had to be with the climate of things. It was a pain in the butt, and got around to the current employees…who were upset at the claims. We passed everything with flying colors. What’s sick, is nothing happens to the person who “anonymously” made false claims.
I don’t know the inter workings of the NFL. That said, optics show a bunch of rich athletes and successful coaches of all colors. I see a brand that is so scared of racial disparity, that they put on borderline corny displays to say “we hear you and we’re trying.” I’m just not sure to what end you let someone try to harm the company they work for?
This case seems more about attention for the individual, by the individual. I think employees should address concerns of any type, at all times within the company. That said as well, I despise social media….but that’d be like complaining about an argument you had with your wife on social media to the world. Heck…maybe people do that?!? I wouldn’t know.
This, in my humble opinion, seems rather cut and dry. My opinion is not a fact, and neither are his opinions. If he feels that strongly, and can prove he wasn’t just trying to further his career by being a martyr….which seems to be a thing these days in some circles… then more power to him and I wish him luck. He definitely need it, whether he’s right or wrong.

Lots of mental gymnastics here. The 2 situations aren't even similar.

Any company should be able to get rid of anyone they don’t want and if not divorce should be illegal

YOU CAN'T WORK FOR AN ORGANIZATION AND TRY TO UNDERMINE THEM.

It's telling that you think a journalist asking about diversity in the workplace is "undermining" them.

Big corporations never seem to like when you stand up for yourself and ppl who look like you.

Big corporations are also learning about hiring people with lower standards and IQ. Especially those who work harder at complaining than their job. Not worth it. You pay directly or indirectly in the end.
