ATL is a 2006 American coming-of-age comedy-drama film, and the feature film directorial debut of music video director Chris Robinson. The screenplay was written by Tina Gordon Chism from an original story by Antwone Fisher, and is loosely based on the experiences of the film's producers Dallas Austin and Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins growing up in Atlanta, Georgia (ATL). The film is a coming-of-age tale concerning Rashad, played by Atlanta native and hip hop artist T.I. (credited as Tip Harris) in his film debut, and his friends in their final year in high school and on the verge of adulthood. The film also stars Antwan Andre Patton, more commonly known as Big Boi of the hip hop group OutKast, Evan Ross, Jackie Long, Jason Weaver, Lauren London, and Mykelti Williamson.
ATL was the first feature film for its director and the majority of its cast. Filmed in Atlanta, Georgia in summer 2005, many celebrities from the city make cameo appearances, including Bone Crusher, Jazze Pha, Killer Mike, and Monica.

Little known fact: Both ATL and Drumline are about the same person's life. The man, the myth, the legend: DALLAS AUSTIN!!!
Gone and hit that Edit for them , Playboy lol
Dallas and T Boz
This channel deserves more subs but keep the reviews coming.
Agreed 💯
I’m waiting on yall to do Poetic Justice…CHICAGO!!!!!! Lmao😂
ATL is the Boyz N The Hood of the south & is one of the only few coming of age movies not based in Chicago, California or New York. Can we please get a review on another coming of age movie Roll Bounce?
Facts Rollbounce was that movie
@@gerrelloxendine2355 Roll Bounce & ATL are mirror movies.
Teddy was doing grills at the beginning of the movie in somebody shop, it’s not crazy to think he opened his own spot up a few months later.
The way y'all break these classics down really makes me rewatch movies that I've enjoyed hundreds of times, from a whole perspective. Real dope.... Let me put my bid in for a review of A LOW DOWN DIRTY SHAME! Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans! Definite Blackbuster. ✊🏾
Also Most Wanted starring Keenen Ivory Wayans
Here in Georgia, you have to be 18 to serve alcohol, you just can’t buy it “legally” until you’re 21.
Same in Florida.
Same in NJ
Same in Louisiana lol
So I guess in the USA lol
@@gifi11 nope. It’s different for certain states and regions
As usual Bigg Jah and Multi Tone killed it and I appreciate the way you guys break down movies and ATL is definitely a Black buster and definitely great points about Nu Nu's mom well said 👏
Yoo y’all gotta do Drumline and Roll Bounce next lol Great Review
This is a dope podcast... y'all tapped into a great idea..reminds me of Sysco & Ebert..but better...💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
I’m glad y’all acknowledged this southern classic Black/hood film. From a Mississippi nigga with love ✊🏾😂. This movie represented many parts of the south and not just Georgia or Atlanta. Now the cascade and skating is exclusive to them fasho but everything else is southern shit. The dialect , some lingo etc.
How'd you watch it mine wont load
@@Mebirduwine try it again fam. Mine was trippin earlier when it dropped.
Dang, I just realized NewNew and Esquire were doing the same thing essentially, him trying to get out of the ghetto and her trying to get in (to chill with her girls). They had different reasons, but its really that they both wanted to follow their heart. We all know your family of origin is not always a perfect match for the way you see yourself or your future, I had to pause it and 15:29 to share my epiphany 😄
Anyone else having an issue with viewing this podcast
Same
Yes
I did yesterday but not this morning
@@shaundasmith7765 yeah finally was able to watch it today
I did , thought it was just me
No mention of buffie the body from the yam man smh
I like how they broke down how Marcus didn protect Ant how he should’ve makes more sense now
High level review.. Spot on.. This was a 5 first review....
Mvp - Esquire
Lvp - the twins
Over acting - the twins
✊🏿 rating - 3 1/2 black fist
Solid rating...
Get ready to have your mind blown. Im 42, born and raised in Atlanta. This was a cool movie but not an accurate depiction of what it's like. But it makes sense when you understand that this is Dallas Austin story, a guy not from Atlanta. Im not saying that we didn't skate because I was in golden glide every Friday just like everyone else but we let that go by middle school. And sidenote, TI didn't know how to skate prior to this movie.
Jah was right about Tip should’ve had a gun... esp being in the south one of the 4 guys in the group most likely have access to a gun.
Hustle & Flow next !
One of my favorite hood movies a classic Great podcast.
18 to serve
21 to drink
In the A
Ya’ll smoked this one 👌🏾 Keep up the good work.
I like the different clicks of skaters…showing the various groups of people (there is something for everyone)
I'm almost caught on the back log . I need a sugar hill episode asap
So y’all just gone let Brother Tone get away with saying “Jazzy Fa” huh?
No video 😢
This world is so small. Tell me why I’m watching family feud season 20 episode 29 and Tony is on there 😂.
LOVED their breakdown of the film.
Sn: *John Garrett
Remember when New New came to the house after the big reveal and Rashad was like “I’m sorry, Errin was it?” So you mean to tell me that Rashad loved New New so much but didn’t know her real name??
"ATL" Skateman says, That's Real Talk BlackBusters Podcast!
Y'all should do Belly nxt factz tribute to Dmx y'all have the dopest podcast
Or never die alone
Yup frfr
If u live in a house without a bathroom. That's a storage shed. Born and raised from Atlanta, I never witnessed a house without a bathroom
This is a new age House Party of sorts. ATL is always a good time. I love this movie. I like it when yall just talk about the movie without any structure, too. That be yall best episodes. Just flow with the conversations, you don't have to make it a timeline of the movie. If we are here 99.99% of the time we seen the movie. Just have a dope convo. Tone was in his bag today.
Jason Weaver is a Chi Town legend not Atl.
Facts they lost me with that and what other thing has he done that would make them feel like he’s attached to Atlanta? Because bro always reppin the city (Chicago)
Have tried 4 times no luck
Teddy was older than the others
Should do (roll bounce) next
I think Ant was a sophomore going into junior year (end of the movie)
🔥🔥Yall gotta do that kingdom come with ll cool j. Very layered movie.
Georgia alcohol laws permit adults to tend bar. Of course, adults are those 18 or older. They may also serve in venues that sell alcohol for on-site drinking. No state alcohol law gives any minimum age for selling alcohol for off-site drinking.
She said she was from the Tre and she won’t that’s a lie right there you can be 18 and serve in country club in Nc too
Wont play, please fix it.
This movie was so live when it came out. Had everybody dressing like they was from A. Theres a reason the South has been dominating the Hip-Hop scene for the last 30 years. Andre was right when he said the South had something to say.
By the way, Fresh wouldn't have gotten robbed like that.
Yes they do have high school narcs
great show brothers kinda pissed they didn't have gucci or shawty lo on the soundtracks they atlanta as it gets
Yo!why this episode not playing?
You guys have to do "187" with Samuel L. Jackson
4 star movie . Nunu was fake , she had all that bread and was boosting with the twins .
I dont think her dad was a uncle tom . Im a dad , no one is good enough for her dad . Her going to the hood to get a boyfirend when there is good dudes with futures around him . Esquire was the mvp , the realest on the show just trying to be something.
Tip was not acting as tip . Tip is more like Marcus , he wasn't a artist . Love bro in this movie
He was gonna tell on her but she said she was gonna tell him in her on way.
The video won't play worth a damn
Same
It won't play for me 😢
ATL didnt age well to me. It wasnt a garbage movie, but the only true ATLiens in this movie who were actually from Atlanta was Tip and Big Boi, and the cameos from Bone Crusher and Killer Mike.
In VA you can serve liquor at 18
This podcast is the shit
What yall say where I cant watch the damn video tho
Dead ass I couldn't watch last night rest of the tube was g
Fresh would have been closer with Ted to trap out the gold shop and would have been close to Esquire to network with his circle of people on the Northside.
When you going do one on first time felon with Omar Epps
Y’all didn’t touch on that Marcus sent them to rob him u see Marcus talkin to the dudes that robbed him first
What part was that?
You can actually serve liquor under the age of 18 without a doubt
🔥🔥🔥
They should of have someone from the city cause I'm from Atlanta and there was definitely some inaccurate things in this 😂
Be on the show
I think T.I overreacted lol I feel him tho I would of been upset but I wouldn’t of have took it that far!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The movie not playin yall its not our phones, please re-upload the video
I really wanna see a best worst blackbusters review like pootie tang
You guys are crazy comparing Belly to Dead Presidents..Even the review yall did for Dead Prez was off..prolly the only one I disagree with
New New neighbor that snitched horrible person
Who is fresh?
If you ain't telling the truth, then you might as well be lying 🤷🏿♂️
ATL, Rollbounce and Hustle And Flow. Are hood classics that emerged around the same 05' era.
Did Ant get shot in the neck? Looks like he did in the movie. Idk how he survived that lol
