Hi l live in Texas and there are many Crepe Myrtle trees here l really 💘 them to there beautiful. Your landscape in your yard is beautiful looks like it should be in a magazine.
Oooh love that Crepe myrtle ! Your front swoop is gorgeous. My oldest son (42) was down visiting on the weekend and I showed him the picture that Proven Winners featured on their Facebook page of your garden and he absolutely loved it. He said I could see you doing that Mom. My ears perked up and I replied "do you want to help?" Sorry I can't stay that long lol.
Janey, your gardens are soooo pretty!! The swoop is to die for and that crepe myrtle wow!!! I enjoy all your videos and your sweet personality . God Blessyou andyour family.
That color will look great! It's nice to get all the positive comments from the neighbors! It's nice to know that you're positively affecting the whole neighborhood! Cheers Janey!
I love Jazzberry!! I thought nothing could take my heart like bubblegum but….miss Jazz is definitely the vibe this year. That pop of color is going to look perfect!
I love your channel. I like to watch when I’m having coffee and getting my morning started. You have such a calm presence! I’m in zone 4b so it’s fun to see how such a different zone can garden.
I laughed out loud when you said you feel like you have ants in your pants. We used to say that when one of the kids was being so rambunctious, we would say oh my gosh she's acting like she has ants in her pants 😀 Love those beautiful jazz berry I also did a mass planting of them under a tree that spreads upward and not much width. I think its called a Canadian maple but I'm not positive, but they are happy in their spot. Thank you Janey for all your great content
A Japanese maple for your zone might look good in place of your dark grass. I don't know if it would be too hot but that would provide a different texture and you might find one that would blend with your crepe myrtle and pull your colors together in your landscape. 🙂
Such pretty color in your front yard! I hand pruned my jazz hands loropetalum several weeks ago. One branch at a time, step back, see how it looks, trim off the next branch. Don’t rush and frequently step back and see how things look. Your loropetalum are established, so they should be fine. I didn’t want round meatballs either. I was pleased with my pruning job. I used my Felco #2 pruners. Loropetalums are tough plants. (I garden in southeastern NC, zone 8a. I’m on the coast.) Good luck!!!
🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜 I hate running into those ant hills 😱😱 they get under my gloves and down into my gardening shoes and then you are doing the crazy dance trying to get them off 🤪🤪🤪 good thing I live in the country cause nobody wants to see that 😂😂😂😂😂😂. And that crepe myrtle tree ♥️♥️♥️ wow absolutely gorgeous!!! Have a wonderful day friend 🥰🥰
Your garden is looking absolutely amazing!!!! I'm in Sydney Australia zone 10b so we are in winter now and I love seeing all this summer colour and you are just the sweetest
It is all looking beautiful. I think those annuals will look fantastic. I use cheap cinnamon for preventing ants. They don’t like the smell. You can also use old coffee grounds sprinkled around to help prevent ants from moving in. You do have to reapply especially after rain. Have a wonderful day.
Hi Janey 🌺kisses for your daughters . The crape myrtle looks amazing l have the lilac color l will get another colors from this tree l lovet . The jazzberry plants looks beautiful .Janey if you add another flowering plants next to jazzberry it will be an amazing sighte. Have awonderful dayyou and your family.🌺
You could always divide your vertigo grass and leave a smaller plant and use the divisions elsewhere or share them with your mom. I’m only in zone 7b. My vertigo never get that lush and never overwinter but they are on if my faves. Love, love, love your content.
Oh your tree is absolutely gorgeous Janey 💕 and I love the new added colour 💕 I love very early in the morning gardening and later in the evening gardening 👩🏻🌾 totally in my element 🌸💕🌸
Your crape is gorgeous and I’m so jealous. Here in Virginia it has been June bug season and they have eaten most of the blooms off my crapes. The jazz berries already brighten up the top of your bed. Thank you and look forward to your next video.
WHAT?! I didn't know there were bugs that ate the blooms off crepe myrtles, how terrible Karen! I'm so sorry! 💗 Thanks for watching and your sweet comment and I hope those June Bugs bugger off! 😜😘
I hate the ants, I will be purchasing some of the ant bait as well. I don't have a massive problem but prefer to take care not than to wait till is gets worse. The pop of color in the background will look really pretty. Can't wait for the update on them. 🙃
Oh that would be awesome Deb! That is funny. Crepe myrtles are alllll over here! Along the road, in parking lots! I love them! Thanks for watching and have a wonderful day!
Hi i love your garden! It inspires me because i live in the tropics and we dont get beautiful plants that last like petunias but its so pretty!! A tip for pruning your laurapetelum (spelt it wrong im sure) io help remain its natural style is to prune from the bottom up, use the natural share of the trunk to guide your pruning. U can check linda vater for that method she shows in great detail how to do it and i have been doing it ever since! Keep the videos coming, love from malaysia!
Adding those pops of colour will make all the difference. I so enjoy your channel and such fun being part of the interaction with the neighbours. Putting eyes on “ Cousin It” will be hilarious...if he lasts that long! ☺️. I forget what show Cousin It was from...anyone remember? 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hahaha yes the adams family!! Too funny!! Actually, the neighbors down the street were talking to me about having a halloween decorating contest, so I might just have to keep the grass until the contest!! 😆
Cool you took my idea i suggested to use the same plants as the swoop to brighten the area. I have the same Black Knight grass I divide in Spring to different areas. It would be pretty against some green. Great garden 👍
Your supertunias along your front swoop are beautiful. Tell me how you keep them deadheaded? I just cant keep mine picked over. Then they don’t force new blossoms.
We're in Missouri 6b. We have a huge 🐜 issue also. We also have a company that helps . They say the Ants 🐜 are awful this year! Your Tree is stunning!!
Good morning Janey! I wish you were my neighbor, your garden is absolutely beautiful! I love the color combo of the front swoop and the gorgeous tree!❤️🧤😎
Hey!! It looks like you have a lot of built up mulch-we had this same issue when we moved to our house in 2020. It had built up a lot of !!mold!! and bugs/spiders… I removed all the old mulch and put down a thin layer of new mulch and it feels amaaaazing and a lot less bugs!
Love that grass, maybe something midsize ,another Bobo maybe , at it's feet to break up the dark tones. It's size helps establish the "mature garden " look. Look at your garden via this video to see the overall effect rather than specifics. You have a great start!
It's going to be so beautiful when it fills in those areas. The swoop has got to be a traffic stopper, or at least a traffic snails pace. I have a Crape Myrtle that looks to be the same color. It's not blooming yet, even tho I've seen others around the corner in full bloom.? Guess I'll get to enjoy mine longer, I have a white one that I absolutely adore.
Not that you asked lol but I think adding just a little littlllleee bit more of chartreuse green back there would also feel like you have more color 😉 I love the pink too!!
You can tell in your voice that you love your Crepe Myrtle and it is pretty with the flowers blooming. The kids just loved it. I think what you do will be the right thing because you do your research on it before hand, or think about it for a while till the time is right. I bet you are glad you have your family all back together. Will have one more visit with one more child and granddaughter if COVID does not get to bad here. She is in the medical field and they are short handed already does not need one more home with it plus she will have a child that will be home with her also. Stay Safe and just keep planting your heart out, (watch your heat) love watching what is next. Till the next time.
Love your garden, it’s so beautiful. I planted eight Jazzberry and fell in love with them. What was the name of the place you ordered yours from? I ordered mine from Proven Winners last fall. Weird! They were absolutely GORGEOUS last year, i'm bummed they didn't do better this year! I've never planted any gaura but my mom just planted a ton! I might have to get me some as well!

Hello Janey i was just about to ask you about if its normal for crepe myrtle tree to peel of his bark....i was thinking maybe it has a disease...mine is not as huge as yours but i love the blossoms of it!!!
That tree 😍 oh I wish I could plant one! How long does it bloom for? I think that is the perfect pop of color behind the swoop and it will all tie in beautifully! Love the natural sounds of the birds that you left in!
Good morning my friend. Question: I see it all the time even on other garden channels, Why do you all plant the plants close to the established plants in the bare spots of the garden/s. Then when the annual takes off it looks like it is trying push out the shrub, or plants. Just wondering. Other wise your gardens still looks great. Enjoy and have a wonderful day.
Hi Janey! Your garden is looking beautiful! I live in the Bay Area too… Bay Point. My Crepe Myrtles aren’t blooming yet but We don’t get the heat like you do… So they should bloom soon. I wanted to ask if you use any special fertilizer on your tree? Thanks!

Janey how do you get your supertunias to bloom continually? I have to constantly deadhead mine or even cut them totally back to get another flush of blooms.
Janey, have a question for you...I notice when you are planting you do not typically loosen up the toots. Is that not necessary? I'm so disappointed in the Proven Winners I have tried, all died....have not been able to find Supertunia to try, have tried some ground covers....have another nursery to try to find supertunia...any color, they are so pretty. Your garden is unbbeautuful
I have the same problem with ants in my garden talking about a lot of ants....i literally had ants all over my pants and hands while working in the garden
Hi Janie lynne here. I might be wrong but did I see you pull out gladioli bulbs? Is there a reason you don’t leave them for next year? Just curious and yes the extra pop of Color will look great.
Hi Lynne!! Yes I pulled them out, one- because I planted some where I didn't like the location so i took them out, and two because some have spread into an area that I dont want them! I left a whole drift up in the ground above the middle supertunia but took out a bunch that I didn't want to grow next year!
Hi Janie! Love the color! 🌸 I'm in California also.... blazing hot 🥵 I've thought of ordering from Romence also but concerned about shipping in the heat. Did you have any issues with that?
They were all ok except we ordered 6 heliotrope and they all looked a little parched when we got them! I'm sure just from the heat! They put this little piece of cardboard over the pot i think to keep the soil and moisture in and I think that helped the plants survive the journey! 💗
Hi Janey, your yard looks gorgeous and that crape myrtle is amazing. Mine is starting to bloom now, too. Are you getting any of the smoke from the Electra fire? Take care, my friend. 🦋🐞🌻
I just planted supertunia VIOLET STAR in my front yard and they’re already dying. Can youCome down to Southern California and help me with my garden? lol

A Japanese maple for your zone might look good in place of your dark grass. I don't know if it would be too hot but that would provide a different texture and you might find one that would blend with your crepe myrtle and pull your colors together in your landscape. 🙂
You are so fortunate to have a tree that blooms through the summer - the Crape Myrle is stunning.
goodness your garden!! Absolutely stunning!! You’ve done such an incredible job!! You’re right! That crape myrtle is the icing on the cake! I love it!
Your garden absolutely beautiful. Your Supertunia is gorgeous 🌸🌸🌸

I do also love almost an all green garden. Love that crepe myrtle.
Yes Ive seen some really gorgeous ones! Thanks Nita! 💗

Definitely a show stopper. Very beautiful!
The swoop is so gorgeous and the variation with the three types of plants is perfect
Thanks so much for saying that Connie! Have a great day! 😘
Oh I like the cinnamon idea Tammy!!! Thank you!
It’s looking gorgeous! I mean, is there really any such thing as too much color?!? I think not! Love it!!!
I think not!!! Thanks Rebecca! 💗
Very pretty! Those Supertunia Vistas are amazing. Such an easy way to add color! 🌱M

How about adding some bight white like agapanthus
That Crepe Myrtle really lights up your garden! Mine is a late bloomer, comes around in mid August so until then I have Myrtle envy!
Ooh but you'll enjoy it for longer!! Thanks for watching Sheila!

Oh thank you so much Nancy! I wish you were my neighbor! 💗
Your myrtle is living its best life! I see a vanilla/strawberry standard in your front yard where the darker shrubs are :)
And that is what I have in my garden- chaos 🥵
So so pretty Ants eat termites
Hey!! It looks like you have a lot of built up mulch-we had this same issue when we moved to our house in 2020. It had built up a lot of !!mold!! and bugs/spiders… I removed all the old mulch and put down a thin layer of new mulch and it feels amaaaazing and a lot less bugs!

You can tell in your voice that you love your Crepe Myrtle and it is pretty with the flowers blooming. Love your garden
Weird! They were absolutely GORGEOUS last year, i'm bummed they didn't do better this year! I've never planted any gaura but my mom just planted a ton! I might have to get me some as well!
I think it's because of the fact that the Jazz berries look more cooler toned than the bubblegum. That peeled bark might as well be used as paper lol. Relatable with the ant problem, but I get bit on my feet ant arms, and they sting really bad! I think sweet alyssum will burn in my tropical climate. (USDA Zone 13, according to Google, because I actually live in the Philippines)
I wanted to add more supertunias but thinking I have less time to enjoy them now because they will die by frost.
Beautiful garden. What do you to take care your ants???
I have what I know is an irrational fear of ants and I absolutely cannot dig or plant when I run into a swarm like that. My preference would be to just leave them alone, but I may have to try that ant bait for the areas that I really need to dig up. That or have my husband do it for me 😁

They are just a nuisance! I don't think there is anything to worry about if they don't bother you!

So true about PW. live in Visalia and it is hit and miss. Monrovia is a great alternative and quality is comparable to PW
