I used to work Denver International Airport and had to be there during blizzards so I bought an H3 for this very reason. One blizzard the roads were not plowed, cars all over and drifts about 2 feet high and the H3 had no problems at all handling that kind of inclement weather. Also, one of the safest vehicles I owned.
All I can say is that in glad storms like these only happen once a decade here in Chicago. This video was actually taken super close to my neck of the woods. Looks like they were having fun for sure. I remember this storm. Totally sucked!!! We really aren't used to enormous blizzards. This is why they are so memorable when they do happen. This one was the 2011 blizzard if I'm not mistaken and the ones in my recent memory (well, my parents that is) were '79 and '88. Probably missed a few in between but I have no memory of that since I'm a 90s kid. Our winters are more like what we've had this year. No white Christmas and little no snow before that. We actually just had our first major snowfall on the first of the year and even then it was only about 2-3 inches by me. Some other spots got closer to 4-6. Funny thing is there's still barely any more snow forecasted in the extended forecast. Winters here in Chicago at least fluctuate between little to no snow to moderately snowy, even the average temps of winter are pretty variable. As with most weather related things in the US, the la Nina and El nino cycles have a huge impact on that. So I suppose it no real surprise. Anyway, I think I'll take Chicago winters over Denver's. I think we're a tad warmer and have dramatically less snow. Snow is not for me.
Calls boss to say he’s taking a snow day, but the boss knows he has a Hummer and tells him to get his ass in to work... and later probably asks him to pick him up on his way there 😅
"Big win". Seriously? That snow is about 24-30" deep and about average density. It's a freaking Hummer. This, here, is about the only thing it's better at than any cars. And I doubt it's because the driver needs to actually be anywhere. I've pushed through snow that was up to my headlights...yes...lost my lighing...lighting...in my Subaru Outback XT. THAT is a "win". And the other 364 days per year my Outback does eveything better outside of towing and shoving loads of shit in it. So what's that now...maybe 10 days per year an H2 is better? And if I get in an accident, I'm not killing a family.
H2 Hummer built on the GM Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Pickup Truck (or GMC Sierra 2500HD)- 2008-2009 Vortec 6200 6.2 L92 V8 - 393 hp. Same 4 wheel drive setup at the trucks used for plowing snow - with the correct snow tires a true beast !

And all the people joking about the bad gas mileage probably lose so much more money on resale value and all around FUN! My jeep gets 14 mpg at best but even in 10 years it'll be work 10x more than an old smart car or even Cadillac. And while they are all stuck in their homes in every snow storm, we're the ones out saving people who are stuck and helping people shovel out of their driveways
LMAO.. 60 Years old and as soon as it dumps I have an 81 Jimmy I've sorta tinkered with and my first thought is see how far I can do a sideways slide with all fours throwing a storm
Speaking as someone who works for general motors; what MOST people dont know (or take into consideration) is that most hummers have a 6.0 or a 6.2 v8. The SAME v8 Thats in a cadillac escalade or a gmc yukon denali. Yet no one bitches about those truck's gas mileage. They even all have the same Damn fuel tank size! How about you educate yourself next time.
Brady Gort the only difference is that the box like shape of the h2. It just like the Jeep but do you complain about Jeeps gas mileage? Nope, cuz it's an off road vehicle
No, you know whag doesnt get good gas mileage that you never hear about? That fuckin G wagon. A g55 or g63 amg up until 2018 was EPA rated at like 12-13 combined mpg, which was like 3 less than an escalade. Realisitcally you got much worse mpg, usually 10 vs 16 in an escalade
I’ve been plowing in New England at condominiums with a Fisher EZEE V with my Hummer H2 since 2008. It’s an incredible plow truck. Heavy, handles blizzards and shoves back snow banks. I’ve done ZERO repairs and in between storms it gets the same mileage as my 4x4 pickups. The things a BEAST and women love it. Lol! …..Honest! Ha ha!
I remember driving back from Boston to Newark on a Sunday night that same winter, exiting the freeway in Newark at 11PM and suddenly finding myself in 2 feet of snow, buses stuck and abandoned in the distance, and the streets desolate. A girl was ride-sharing with me and I had to drop her off at the Newark station. And I did. Then I drove home to Jersey City. Because I was driving a Jeep. It might be a rare occasion when you need that extra mobility, but it's when you don't have it that it makes all the difference.
Good point. Only one on here. Still prefer my Subaru's, with snow tires. The capabilities of Subaru's get very little publicity, but YT is filled with videos that should send a person to the dealer. Here in Milwaukee, in rather meager snow, a police officer got his Dodge rear end stuck in a ditch. Thank God the Jeep...no...an H2...no, wasn't that...oh, got it...it was Subaru STI in full diff lock (a true 4x4) strapping the Dodge to his tow hook and pulling him out. Check some of the videos of tuned Subarus doing 5000 rpm launches in snow. No grip issues after 100 feet. My Outback (tuned, lowered 3", aluminum rally skid plares) has pushed snow over it's headlights and "drag races" against...anything...it's unbeaten. It is dangerous, I'll admit that. It's raw, too. No traction or stability control.
@@Tomas.X I got a 2020 forester completely stock with all seasons and it performs great in the snow. First awd car I’ve ever had (had a 4x4 f-150 at one point). This is my first Subaru and I will probably always have at least one in my driveway for the rest of my life at this point
@Alexander In my many decades of snow driving, it did not seem as though he had aggressive snow tires or maybe they were well worn . My 202 Ford f 250 company truck with new snow tires would go thru deep snow like it was on dry pavement .
Matt Rothblatt His destination is probably to work. He has car insurance, gas, monthly car payments, taxes,to pay on that thing whether it snows or not.. If it's not work he's going through a lot of expense to entertain people especially if he damaged that transmission. Either way it's all on him. I'd rather be stuck with the camera and not worried about going anywhere in that mess. Heck I stay home for an inch of snow on the streets.
BlackWorldTraveler if you stay home you’re not getting paid. And you still have to pay for your insurance and Home/apartment and all that. So I’d rather get paid. I’d pay 100 bucks to get to work lol
Matt Rothblatt That's depressing. Glad I'm not a slave to my work. I have the option of 5 weeks vacation, stay home and read, play video games, hot tea, bake pizzas and binge, etc. or fly someplace warm. Flying to warm place now. There's inflight wifi. If you have to go to work in that to get paid you seriously need to rethink your career field, where you live, and how you handle your finances. They stoked his ego, and you're doing the same thing. I'll give you a break and assume you're 12 and got mom's phone.
@@BIG_DRU A big failure point was the transmissions. Especially the 3rd and 4th gears. Most of that is because the transmission is not good for the weight of the vehicle. It is like it is in tow mode all day long. They did not put the same powertrain in these commercial Hummers that the military gets with their Humvees.
looks like he was trying to smash a path through the snow and clear the way for smaller 4x4s. You see that all the time out in the country where plows might not get to you for a week after a bad snowfall. Anybody with a large farm tractor or AWD dumptruck will try to break a path for smaller 4x4s.
Not. Doesn't work that way. Next time it snows at least 3-4", push your shovel from one end of the driveway to the other. Once enough mass is loaded on the front, all the other snow is just pushed up and over the shovel, or mounds up on the sides and falls back in. And that's a *shovel*. This guy? Yeah, some snow went to the right or left, but most fell right back down behind it, along with the snow going under the H2. What he DID do was push more snow onto all the cars. He's no different than a guy who pulls to the right to blow through a puddle to get people wet. This guy = all ego. No medal.
@@Tomas.X A vehicle is not a shovel moron. Snow is compressable, when a large vehicle plows through deep snow they will push the top layer around their front bumper and to the sides. But the sheer weight compresses the snow under their tires down and leaves a track behind smaller vehicles with less traction can follow.
Tell me you don't really mean it, saying F'ing people already in a crap situation is something to celebrate. Besides, going straightforward in that snow is all he can do well. Not sure where you live but the police (back the badge!) will cite you if you're out joyriding in a snow emergency. And once he gets on better main streets, this idiot is pure liability. Can't handle, can't brake, H2's have horrible visibility (drove and rode in one several years ago - you?) For all we know, he killed a 75 year old man another block away. Not to mention the enormous risk his H2 would pull to the side and smack the cars on the street. Happens a LOT.

THAT is a "win". And the other 364 days per year my Outback does eveything better outside of towing and shoving loads of shit in it. So what's that now...maybe 10 days per year an H2 is better? And if I get in an accident, I'm not killing a family.

And all the people joking about the bad gas mileage probably lose so much more money on resale value and all around FUN!

That's what I do in my cul-de-sac. Neighbors love it.
Not. Doesn't work that way. Next time it snows at least 3-4", push your shovel from one end of the driveway to the other. Once enough mass is loaded on the front, all the other snow is just pushed up and over the shovel, or mounds up on the sides and falls back in. And that's a *shovel*.
