My go-to sniper rifle. The Ross looks sexy as hell, it's amazingly accurate at mid to long ranges, and as a plus, in the absence of the M1903 Springfield rifle which should've been added with the Pacific update, this is literally the next best thing. Slap a 6x magnification scope on the Ross and voila ! You shiftmaked your own Springfield sniper rifle for the american Recon.
Bolt actions are the most reliable guns. You only have 1 spot (the window were brass are extracted and were bullets are charged in) were shit can enter the gun and only 1 moving part: the bolt. When your bolt action has reliability problems then there is something wrong. By the way BAs are very difficult to balance and differentiate in videogames. Trigger discipline, reliability, safety, weight, how strong the action is, sights and so on are not important factors. The kar98k is basically the best BA of WW2 because of how strong the action is, how safe the gun is and how generally fast, accurate and reliable the gun is. In This game the kar is basically a super long range rifle that no one uses. The gun has good range damage and muzzle velocity but thats it. The SMLE and Krag are better options in game. In reality the krag was kinda good but it wasn't as strong and reliable plus You can only reload 1 bullet at the time wich is a massive drawback in real life because soldiers didn't have optics that blocked the feeding rail so you can never use strip clips when other rifles can. The smle and the mas were good competitors for the kar but both werent as good as the kar in terms of safety, reliability exc. They had good speed but thats it
Dunno why, but I feel the 3x scope feels funny on this gun. I feel it’s too... “open”. And it feels like there’s this unnaturally long delay between firing and hitting someone (not due to lag). Anyone else? Great video as always, Kris.
I prefer the iron sights on this gun, some reason in bf5 I don’t really run irons like I did in Bf1. But this rifle just feels great with iron sights and it also shoots quite fast with it as well.

Fun fact, the ross mk 3 in the game is inaccurate to IRL. Since the Ross MK III has a straight pull bolt, in the game you shouldn't have to scope out to cock the gun. You could stay scoped and chamber another round, rather quickly at that. It's the main reason why the rangers like it so much.
First weapon I got to level 10 in BFV. Didn't use it as much in BF1, although it was amongst the best rifles in the Scout class, but I absolutely loved the Ross rifle in BFV. Perfect for mid and long range sniping.

Ross rifle had the potentiality to become the best rifle in WWI. However, it has two problems. First, the dangerous problem. There is no fool proof system in the bolt shank and bolt sleeve assemble progress. And this two parts are very easy to be assembled incorrectly. When Canadian soldier maintaining their ross rifle, if they didn't pay 100% attention to the bolt assembly, this rifle will take their life by shoot the bolt backward into their face or hip. Second, the reliability problem. It's actually the bullet problem. Ross rifle is easy to get jammed by low quality bullet which Lee Enfield has no issue to shoot. That's why Ross rifle was kind of popular between sharpshooters and sniper in WWI. Because they got better quality ammo. It take the Ross company too long to fix this two problems. When they finally fix their rifle, Canadian soldiers had already used to use Lee enfield. That's why this gun has a very bad reputation. I feel sorry to this good rifle.
Wish there was a ww2 or ww1 game where you had 2 sides for each map 100 players each side and each side with 1000 lives Include nations like USA Japan Russia France Britian Germany Austria Italy Now let's say world war 2 for my example 100 players per side they all have the option of being standard bolt action wielding rifleman except for usa with the bolt action being replaced with the garand 15 submachine gunners 15 lmg users 5 hmg users 5 shotgun users and 5 snipers 25 vehichle crew and 20 semi auto rifles and 10 assult rifles and for america your semi autos will be replaced with full auto choices tou can pick the gun in that class as long as it belongs to that nation or at least their allies ex britian with a thompson or france with the sten Then add vehichle you can choose to be in a vehichle from spawn but you spawn with tanker guns and weapons or pilot guns and weapons And to balance out weapon distribution add jamming or feeding issues and such like say semi autos jam more than bolt action and mud dirt and water affect this and bolt actions have more bullet velocity and range as gas isnt being used to cycle the action and you can lose ammo when running irregularly and such say you have a soilder with a kar98k vs a soilder with a m1a1 carbine now say one loses a mag another loses a stripper clip you are able to get more bullets but magazines are harder to find and replace while stripper clips ease loading and say you shoot all your mags then you have to reload them as with a bolt gun no such thing
I mean you could make an argument all snipers are weaker because they no longer have the sweet spot mechanic. Regardless I still think this is a great rifle especially with iron sights.
Damage isn't everything to be fair. Aiming speed, spread, RoF and more can all be upgraded in-game, it's just the muzzle velocity and damage that hold the rifles back from being called "OP" (and even then the Krag and the Kar get low-drag bullets to compensate, being the main long-range bolt-action rifles).
Well when BFV first came out I was itching for symthic to release a new segment on their website. I find out they have shut down, I was distraught until I found this channel again. I think I watched all of your videos for BF1 and am ecstatic that you are picking up where you left off because I had no idea what I was gonna do to get all the very detailed stats I want for min-maxing. GuitarHeroHardyMaste But THIS gun was PARTICULARLY pathetic with mud. Really, it’s more a sporting rifle than a full-on military rifle like it tries to be. I’m Canadian, but it doesn’t matter to me that the really only well known Canadian gun wasn’t very effective.
Actually the Rifle was used by a French Canadian and got over 100 kills with the Ross, so basically its not all that pathetic, it was more of a sniper role then a Infantry.
People keep acting like 10 bullets in the Lee Enfield is really good, but when you miss half your shots becuase the bullet velocity is so slow, you effectively kill the same amount of people in a clip.
The enfield imo is a god tier rifle, ranges low to medium-high range. After that it's just not worth it, next god tier rifle is the krag the velocity is just rediculous. After that probably the M95.

And i wonder why i cant buy the ross in the armory as i also bought other things from tides of war or do i have to wait????? Bc they said, that you could buy every weapon from tides of war if you couldnt unlock it
@@fabian..f6928 it's not similar to the krag. The krag has decent muzzle velocity and bullet drop isnt has heavy. If you do end up figuring out how to buy the ross. Just remember it's not a rifle you can use past 120 meters or so. The bullet drop just goes doodoo mode

Fyi when you have the iron sights you don't have stop ADS to chamber the next round, it still has the straight pull bolt action that it had in bf1
