All I was ever interested in was video games, and he couldn't even fake interest in them. We had a rough start, but when i got older and it became better to just talk about ourselves, it's good. Growing up, though, I don't think I would've had the maturity to handle talking to my dad about the goings on in his life and how he felt about them, and I definitely wouldn't have been able to talk about myself like that. So, when you can't handle deeper conversations about that, you find other things to help form connections, and if you can't form connections, then it might start to feel less like you're someone's parent and more that you're just their caretaker. Once you leave, you have a feeling of being lost, relying on doing what you feel you have to do to provide without the resources you gave up. George never really believed in his son either by the way he constantly belittled and called him stupid all the time. Of course, their relationship got worse and worse from season 3 but it wasn't good in season 1 either. Even Sheldon has a better relationship with his father.
At the end of the day, George married Mary because he got her pregnant with Georgie. George Sr looks like he’s simultaneously blaming Georgie for ending his dreams AND trying to live those dreams through him: on one hand George Sr belittles and insults Georgie all the time, but on the other hand he gets pissed if Georgie doesn’t want to get into football professionally. I’ve got to wonder what would’ve happened between this father-son duo if there had been another army draft in the 1990s like there was during the Vietnam war which Sr served in.
I agree with the black coach. Football isn't important at all. Job (although part time job) is, as that actually provides money, resume history, and the discipline necessary for the real world (assuming he answers to bosses).
After saying he liked the job, he could have asked his father to support his decision in doing something he is finally good at and enjoys doing. He didnt have to throw that jab at him.

Georgie had no chance at making it with football he did really well with working and shows up on time and does a good job his father's mistake was that he thought Georgie shared the same football obsession he did not
I admit the principal probably enjoyed handling Sheldon in detention more than the other kids. With Sheldon it was probably easier to put him in line, compared to the career juvenile criminals he usually has to deal with.
I wonder what job George really wanted to work at, if coaching is not what he wanted? 'cause Georgie used that when he said he likes his job. I wonder what is so fascinating about his job as a shop worker (except the money that is not much)?
Mary is such selfcentered person! Honestly, I do not support cheating,I disaproove it 100% but George was so not valiued in his own family, and everybody beeing so disrespectfull towards him. You can see how unhappy he was. Mary only focused on Sheldon, I think George kinda was trying to have good relationship with all of his children. And as a women Mary is so tough to deal with. I feel bad for him. He was working hard, and in that one episode he said to Vain "Honestly I don't think I am happy anywhere." It must be hard, after hard work that you come home and your own family is jelling at you for no reason. And listen to Mary's commands everyday...She truly never bothers about her husband's feelings. I disaproove cheating, but let's face it, how can you not with a woman like that and family that disrespects you.
He got a golden opportunity job wise that would've made him happy and would've been good for the family as well a couple seasons ago and turned it down because they weren't happy about it and despite giving that up for them, they still treated him like that, I to hate cheating as most do but honestly I probably would've done the same, everyone has their limit and like George, mine would've been broken by this point.
I wonder how much he loves his "regular" job if he switched to working in a gambling room with meemaw. I mean, he realised that the money he got won't be enough for him or his family, yet he refused to chose to go back to school.
I've never been to a school where someone is employed solely as a coach. The coaches have always been the teachers. Especially because most sports in school are seasonal. My school's last football game would be near the end of November if they got to the finals. Hockey and basketball through the winter. Soccer started in April.
The co coach really knows how to treat Women, I know he's a minor character, but he has such wonderful Beliefs and Values!! Imagine if All Men treated their wives (And children!) with Love, equality, compassion, affection, attention, care, and Never abusive.... The world would be so much better!!
I’m pretty sure it’s only important to George for Georgie to play football because he dreamt of being a football star and failed at it so he’s upset that the co coach is calling him out on it

Yeah Sheldon is lowkey his favorite too. Sheldon got to be recruited by top colleges so Sheldon sorta ironically fulfilled his D1 dreams
"Is this where you thought you'd end up?"
"I thought I'd be working at my father's funeral home sewing people's eyes shut. My life turned out great!"
Well Good For You
3:55 i 100% relate to george here
Funniest part of this episode was when Linkletter said “Ren & Stumpy” 😂
Damn that "What the hell you doin" sounded so genuinely dad-like in how disappointed George was that I got flashbacks to my own teenage mistakes
I agree with the black coach. Football isn't important at all. Job (although part time job) is, as that actually provides money, resume history, and the discipline necessary for the real world (assuming he answers to bosses).
Its funny, emotional and sad at the same time.
Georgie is such a good worker
2:18 he's always so 👏👏
The George strait song at the end made it perfect
Georgie ended up pretty good, wih all those tires stores and all
Drinking in principals office 😂😂
3:36 my favorite song Amarillo by morning
Like that old school principal that pours a couple for his coaches and has a sit down.
georgie doesn't like football he's marketing his store but George having a argument with him georgie is working his job
I absolutely love this show
I honestly love it since season 3. The characters are too good and relatable
I love the interaction between Wayne and George.
2:05 tbh, good comeback XD
0:26 😂
0:39 LMAOOO
2:16 lol 😂
Is Georgie related to Patrick Swayze he looks like him to me?
We have to ask Georgie mom (Real mom)
Georgie looking like Swayze was in an episode.
The banter between the two coaches is so funny poor George can't win
Of all the Cooper family, Georgie is the least neurotic.
i think George Sr's actor is underrated as hell
I love Georgie’s work ethic. George Sr. Was broken when Georgie told him it’s not his fault he hates his job……Ouch!
After saying he liked the job, he could have asked his father to support his decision in doing something he is finally good at and enjoys doing. He didnt have to throw that jab at him.
This is when Georgie exponentially matured and realized his potential was and wasn't.
After that serious scene with george next scene principal office drinking alcohol was sudden change .
It looked like bourbon
1:52 Indian parents 🇮🇳 can DEFINITELY learn a thing or two from this coach!!!! Because Indian parents know NOTHING about commitment to extra curriculars.
Wtf you just said
If you had a brain you would know extra curricular are not as important as main study . George is forcing Georgie to do something he doesn’t like
@@Ark-gu6oq Lmao 🤣 it seems I've triggered a South Asian! Well if you happen to have even SOME brain cells left in that head of yours, then you'd know that extra curriculars further INCREASES your chances for getting into a good college/job career. Studying maybe important but it wouldn't matter if at the end you're getting rejected by another applicant who has BOTH good grades and does extra curricular.
@@Ark-gu6oq Got nothing to say now do ya? (Not sure if you got my latest response)
@@Ark-gu6oqcry harder
The Color Purple is a great book
Georgie had no chance at making it with football he did really well with working and shows up on time and does a good job his father's mistake was that he thought Georgie shared the same football obsession he did not
Damn dude, nah. Doesn't get upset at George and still shoots the shit. Happy with a pen that's worked for 7 months, I want a coworker like that.
Amarillo by morning playing in the background in that last scene is strangely appropriate.
Amarillo is where I'll be
I admit the principal probably enjoyed handling Sheldon in detention more than the other kids.
Where did all the comments go
nowhere, they are there.
@@missyfansclub8894 there’s like five
Dude told him what's up tho.
I guess George is in Midlife-Crisis now
Georgie: I don’t want your life
I had a teacher who kept a bottle in her desk drawer too...
7 months it is amazing.
He was working hard, and in that one episode he said to Vain "Honestly I don't think I am happy anywhere."
It must be hard, after hard work that you come home and your own family is jelling at you for no reason.
Well to be fair George Sr was a bully in highschool (he mentioned it in one of the episodes) so this is his karma so yeah
I wonder how much he loves his "regular" job if he switched to working in a gambling room with meemaw.
I mean, he realised that the money he got won't be enough for him or his family, yet he refused to chose to go back to school.
Wayne is a GOAT 😔🖖
Sounds like when George gets opportunities
His family holds him back
Instead of supporting him
George is my fav character on this show 100%
i am jack heim i love george’s co coach so much
Parents who live their dreams through their children.
I've never been to a school where someone is employed solely as a coach. The coaches have always been the teachers. Especially because most sports in school are seasonal. My school's last football game would be near the end of November if they got to the finals. Hockey and basketball through the winter. Soccer started in April.
Wait 🍺 is allowed in that school dam I wanna go there
Actually back then you could smoke in schools like when my mom was in school in the 70’s had a smoking room till they got rid it
The co coach really knows how to treat Women, I know he's a minor character, but he has such wonderful Beliefs and Values!! Imagine if All Men treated their wives (And children!) with Love, equality, compassion, affection, attention, care, and Never abusive.... The world would be so much better!!
Amarillo is where I'll be....
George Strait
I like that Missy is growing at her pace and not sexed out for ratings.
You don’t quit a team sport once the sports started you wait till footballs over and not be selfish
Georgie has a right to quit
A sports coach should also lead by example, especially ones teaching kids.
I’m pretty sure it’s only important to George for Georgie to play football because he dreamt of being a football star and failed at it so he’s upset that the co coach is calling him out on it
