Sascha "please guys don't boo a player when he goes out with injury, Novak is someone that has given the sport for the past 20 years absolutely everything of his life, he has won this tournament with an abdominal tear, won this tournament with a hamstring tear, if he cannot continue a tennis match it really means that he cannot continue" wise words
The crowd booing at Djokovic for retiring are showing just how rude people can be. He had every right to retire, and he is the GOAT. Rudeness has no place in any sport. Get well soon Djokovic!
Imagine a crowd booing the guy who has won the most Australian Opens. They keep showing how low class they all are- - the government, the media, and the crowds.
I know he thought he had time to recover after his last match. I just wish he would have bowed out during his last match. But he probably thought he could have recovered. He should not be booed for something out of his control. He certainly deserves more respect than he has received from some.
When Nadal was injured in the final vs Wawrinka at AO, he finished the match. BUT while he was taking injury timeouts there was some booing thinking it was delay tactic. There’s always a few bad apples in the crowd- not real fans of the sport. But it didn’t sound widespread from the crowd here. Same with Rafa’s match. Most people just stunned.
I know this didn't take place in the United States, but the United States is actually pretty fair towards other countries in sports I'd say. We root for all sorts of races and ethnicities
I think the reaction was a throwback to that fiasco when the gov't first imprisoned him, then dumped him out the country for refusing to be bullied into infusing strange liquids into his OWN body. He got trashed for that by many in Aussie & I'm sure they haven't forgotten.
Let it go, folks. The man is on michael Jordans level…mt rushmore of athletes. He’s injured. Sasha understood. My only disappointment is not getting to see the full match. If he retired tomorrow, he is the GOAT. Period. And no player has EVER done as much for his sport, or the fans, or other players, or his country, than Novak. Let it go, folks.
I know at this time it is highly disappointing. But overall, a good tournament by Novak. As compared to last year, he is playing much better tennis. Obviously, he is not getting fitter. He needs to adapt more aggression in his game. I hope fake injury investigators can now close that case. And people who are saying he retired to save his reputation should understand that its not saved if you retire. Its not like Zverev has never beaten him. If he thought he could continue, he certainly would have. If he were to go for reputation, he would have played another set, made it 1:1 and then retired. On the contrary, he lost the first set, was behind in the match already. What reputation has been saved?
Coming to this tournament, he received all those nonsense receptions from the donkey crowds, rude commentators, being accused of faking injury, and lastly, negative elements, I would also quit and enjoy the holiday remaining of the days.
@unique8637 He is capable to do that judging from what he already achieved. He's more inclined towards what he really wants to accomplish at the end of the day. The way he snubs the post-match interview and quit certain matches. Whether it's a real injury, his heart wasn't there anymore. That kind of treatment he received compared to his already retired peers is simply horrendous. Nonetheless, he had already achieved in this tournament. Beaten, the odd top seed younger champs and surpassed the new record, won all-time high single matches. Or perhaps letting another youngster to pursue his 1st maiden grand slam. It's all possible.
@@oceanyt8 very well said 👏 zverev pushed djokovic to his limits and almost hr and half on the first set would have any tennis player thinking to quit but I also respect djokovics greatness and credibility. I don't disagree with you
Novak is an absolute King especially because of his standing on business on the vaccine he is the greatest of all time there could be no doubt. Would this ninja have retired had he won the first set of course not this is why the Alcaraz loss hurts that much more 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I am astonished by the arrogance of the crowds against Novak. I am sure we have to handle the western rcism against other people.

Usually the ones that are negative about his situation are those who don’t play sports at 37, or don’t play sports at all.
