Chopper was definitely one of those characters who could charm you one minute and terrify you the next. That unpredictability made him fascinating to watch but also someone you'd never want to cross paths with in real life. You’re spot on-it always felt like there was a razor-thin line between his 'nice bloke' side and his 'absolute madman' side!
Chopper ended up doing a comedy show around Australia started around 2006. I got free tickets from work to the Comedy Club in Melbourne and took my 14 year old daughter. I didn't know Chopper (amongst a few others) was doing an open mike thing. Anyway there was not a sole there pretty much just my daughter and me. He came and chatted to us - he was surprisingly nice. Suppose he had old school rules - if you weren't apart of that scene then you were safe.
He was a real underworld figure here bk in the day . Taking out drug dealers and the like . He became somewhat of a celebrity and had a best selling book . He was very popular doing the talk circuits at sporting clubs and pubs etc . Very scary man . Eric Bana portrayed him in a movie called Chopper ( well worth a look) . Later in life he got sick with liver cancer and refused a liver transplant the only thing that could save him. Thx Mike 😊
In Victoria, or sometimes referred to as Mexico. Nice and warm here at 6am. Chopper grew up in my area. My little sister even saw him down the pub once, scared the living daylights out of her. He was checking her out from across the bar, though he looked familiar, then clocked his ears and quickly looked away. Chopper then had a bit of a sook, crying into his beer, and she felt bad for him.
was wondering 🤔 how you were gonna react when the interview got to the Russian Roulette part 😮 Still definitely a Jaw Dropping Interview in Australian 📺 History !!! Hmmm
In the movie about him, there's a part where he gets upset with this guy, shoots him, then he gets him in the car and drives him to a hospital where he dumps him. Eric Banner who brilliantly played Chopper in the movie said he was worried he might not like the movie and come after him, but Chopper was actually flattered. He was a total nut job who loved being in the spotlight and became infamous bragging about all the murders and tortures he'd done. Bizarrely he even wrote a series of semi-autobiographical fictional crime novels and children's books.
My brother dated Renee Brack for about a year. She has the most beautiful hair. She would condition it with avocado and then wash it with Malt vinegar. Never used shampoo. My brother said she smelt like a salad. 🤣
Never actually met him ( never said g'day ) but did spend about 40 minutes in a small saloon bar with him, in Collingwood, where i grew up in my families pub. When i walked in he was performing for the regulars, telling them a story. He stopped performing and watched me for about 3 minutes before talking again. He never stopped studying me, wondering who i was......quite unnerving , to be honest. He was a professional liar, especially to his enemies and authorities......but also a cunning and intelligent street hood ......careful but fearless. And most of the stories are true, even if embellished a little. His enemies did try to kill him many times and he did target drug dealers and other criminals....someone had to, our governments and courts protect the worst criminals in our society .
I can understand why the general public find Chopper so fascinating and terrifying; however having said that many people know that his greatest skill was Self-Promotion. He is indeed an amazing story-teller and he knows what freaks people out. And he did indeed hurt a lot of other criminals, however he was more talk than action. I personally know two people who were into very bad business back in the day. One of them a Pres of a Bikie Club, met Chopper and found him to be a 'wanker' (ie full of stories, with nothing to back them up) and my other friend did a lot of the same things at the same time (didn't cut his ear off, though...lol) but he didn't write books about it. I am glad he is my best mate, cos I wouldn't want to be his enemy. He thinks the same, Chopper is a 'big-noter', talks more than he does.
My mums ex-husband spent time in pentridge he and his sister lost their parents at young ages, running the streets of Fitzroy, who did a lot of jail for theft and said he really never heard of chopper . I'm just saying Chopper was a good storyteller 😂
Take care Mike! 🥶 Some would have seen him as a misunderstood hero, but as you say Mike, he was just a sociopath! And .. Let me reiterate .. he was not a Tasmanian! 🤨
From my home state of Tasmania, but most of his crimes occured on the mainland of Australia. Unfortunately our gun laws led to the Port Arthur massacre which eventually changed Australia's gun laws and have made mass shootings far more difficult.
Contrary to popular opinion the gun was not loaded- Chopper was a little crazy for sure but he wasn’t stupid enough to risk killing Renee. Years later in an interview from jail he reminds them that he offloaded the gun from the back of the car on the way to the Clarendon- Renee knew this and so it was all for a bit of show, but yeh he was way too smart to attempt something that dumb on camera.
That’s interesting. You’re right he’s not that dumb to risk their lives but I also noticed something else. The camera angle is deceiving . Although it looks like he’s shooting at their heads, I believe he shot behind his head and to the side of Renee’s head.
I've met Renee many times on the tech circuit where she MCs events... the chopper incident was a long time ago, but it shocked me to see what Chopper did to her... im sure the gun wasn't loaded, but still...😢
Russian Roulette with an empty gun . Take note he put a bullet in the pistol spun the cylinder & fired the bullet into the ground before playing with the reporter.
Apparently he didn't "consent" to his ears being trimmed. It was because he said to much after hearing things he shouldn't. But it gave him a good story I guess.
He’s a very scary man. I feel for the interviewer it must have been scary. He is crazy, very scary thank god he’s back in goal. That’s why he back in jail for her attempted murder.
@@beverleyjones4179 There was no bullet in the gun. It’s just hype. You think she would have just stood there if she thought she could potentially be shot?
There is a movie made about his life. Eric Bana played chopper. Fantastic acting.
He was brilliant in that film. ❤All the actors were excellent. ❤️🇦🇺👍

thankyou so much for this, 60 minutes Australia did Choppers final interview before he passed away, its a really good watch. Luv from Australia x

Was she a vegetarian or vegan too? 😂
@@BoganDoleBludger No She was pretty straight forward and not really into that type of thing. I think she does that simply because it works.
Was in H division at the same time as chop chop, always remember that maniacal laugh.

Thanks for the vid. Yep he was the real deal. No acting.
This guy was a solid gold nut job and the world is a better place without him.
The movie about Chopper was fantastic, Eric Bana should have won best actor for his portrayal of Chopper
❤ Definitely!
It was hard to tell, sometimes, if Chopper or Eric were playing the roll, he was that good.
A "stanley knife" AKA box cutter.
I know. Crazy huh?
Got plenty of Beanies.
I don’t understand how anyone could find him charming. Makes the hair stand on end even if smooth talking. People must have no discernment😂
Should you watch the movie Chopper, Renee Brack is in the movie playing herself as the journalist. Chopper was involved in the making of Chopper.
He's not from Tasmania, just went there for the easier laws.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good yarn.

The title is fine Mate..
Russian Roulette with an empty gun . Take note he put a bullet in the pistol spun the cylinder & fired the bullet into the ground before playing with the reporter.
Chopper died of liver cancer some years ago
The gun was pointed to the side of Renee's head if you look.
There's no way that was loaded he was a showman Chopper. 10 percent truth and 90 percent fiction to all his stories.
I think he aimed right of her head, but the angle looks like it's straight on.
Renee seems to have done herself a bit of a mischief.
Most sociopaths have a charming side
Apparently he didn't "consent" to his ears being trimmed. It was because he said to much after hearing things he shouldn't. But it gave him a good story I guess.
Ned Kelly is a saint in comparison
