Update: There was a Fanfare Variation that I haven't Mentioned in this Video, and that was from the 2019 Movie "Yesterday". That Version of the Fanfare was Arranged by Daniel Pemberton. Other Fanfare Variations that I haven't Mentioned: 2017's "Happy Death Day", and This Year's "Fast and Furious 9".
Just like he did with Titanic in 1997, when the elder Rose starts telling her story and gives us her flashback to Southampton back in 1912. A combination of Horner's music and seeing the Titanic again as if it were 'real' and never sank made it amazing. Just to see it all alive. Also, Goldsmith's composition is great too, but seems more like a show-off than really magical, as it was with Horner.
@@G.P.M.07 i dont Think that has anything to do with everything else, I suppose depends on specific opinions, though i got to admit tht bothe Goldsmith and Horner are great
And fast forward to today: Universal Pictures Fanfare (2012-Present) Composed by Jerry Goldsmith Used in "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" (2023) Conducted by: Brian Tyler This variant has the Fanfare cut short along with the animation.
Jimmy McHugh’s version is the one I remembered because I loved the Universal Monsterverse. Of course, the fanfare was heard in other films, I will always think of the Universal Monsterverse. James Horner’s original composition was truly representative of Universal. I had thought that John Williams composed this fanfare, but I was wrong. Jerry Goldsmith composed it. Even if a piece is as brief as it is, it is still brilliant and beautiful.
@@Rlotpir1972 In the DVD commentary of the Richard Donner version of Superman 2, which was filmed simultaneously with the first film, Richard Donner advised John Williams to compose a theme and a score that is in the spirit of Superman. Donner was probably thinking of Sammy Timberg’s theme and Leon Klatzkin’s theme from the television series. The JimmyMcHugh version of the Universal fanfare does have a couple of similarities, as does Jerry Goldsmith’s(whom John Williams had worked for in the beginning of his musical journey). I think John Williams was thinking of Leon Klatzkin’s Superman theme. But I may be wrong.
Hands down, the current 2012 fanfare always has been, and always will be the most impactful fanfare that the company has ever used. No questions asked. 🤘🤘🤘
While Universal Pictures was founded in 1912, Universal Studios (known today as Universal Studios Hollywood) first opened three years later. In 1964, Universal Studios Hollywood was opened to the public for the first time since the sound era began. Today Universal City is truly "The Entertainment Center of the World." By the way, now there's a Universal Studios Florida, too.
James Horner's composition of the Universal theme might be amazing to people (specifically people that grew up in the 80s/90s) because it brings out the true magic of movies, But Jerry Goldsmith and Brian Tyler had something else cooked up their sleeves when they composed their own fanfare for Universal and boy howdy, did they really flip the bird at James Horner when they made their Universal theme. I grew up in the 2000s so Jerry Goldsmith and Brian Tyler’s fanfares are what gives movies their true magic.
The Goldsmith version is the one I remember the most, especially on the Ivor the Engine VHS I had when I was young. I've never liked the most modern version, the extra added bits make it feel too clustered
The 1972 fanfare is my favorite i would consider it a true fanfare for the 1962 universal logo plus in that time it was just slient and would fit if the mario anime movie from 1986 was dubbed to english and distributed by universal
Was there something wrong with the Universal-International fanfare? And for the last two fanfares (1997-2012) and (2012-present), you could’ve mentioned that the theme was sourced from the movie Dragonheart.
Appearently Giacchino's Fanfare had 4 Versions, while Goldsmith's had 3 (with the Latter being Arranged by Michael Kamen). As for the VistaVision One, It had Many Versions.. I'll do it Someday.

Evolution of the Walt Disney Pictures fanfare, please?
I actually noticed something:
The 1997 Universal fanfare is actually a re-arranged version of the 1936 one.
Titanic sank in 1912 good thing you pointed out 1912 in the video!
The 1990 fanfare will forever be my favorite. RIP James Horner. ❤
Same here.
And jerry goldsmith
Yes...it was wondrous!
I’m going to delete you
Interesting how some people leave their mark even when are dead. Rip James.
They perfected the logo both musically and artistically in the early 90s
Early.. Or?
4:34 In 1997, the world was greeted with a masterpiece…
The 1990 . Oh it was just so peaceful and wonderful. No matter what the film it just snuggled you in for a magical ride. Ah...memories
4:43-4:48 this is where I only grew up watching this 1997-2012 universal logo, when I was 4 years old.
Honestly, love Jame Horner's version the best. It captures the magic of the movies.

As much as I absolutely despise Minions with a burning passion, hearing their vocals during the fanfare gave me goosebumps. Not gonna lie.

The 1936 logo is my favorite, but my favorite fanfare is the one by James Horner
My favorite would have to be both 1937-45 and 1990-97 in my opinion.
Yea agreed dude
**1997-2012 fanfare*
Jimmy McHugh’s version is the one I remembered because I loved the Universal Monsterverse. Of course, the fanfare was heard in other films, I will always think of the Universal Monsterverse.
James Horner’s original composition was truly representative of Universal.

John Williams used that theme to make the theme for "Superman".

Yes. Dreams to dream. Such nostalgia.
I love what you did with the Unfriended and Popstar Fanfare :)

The James Horner fanfare for Universal is my childhood favorite logo. It brings a warm feeling to my heart.
Okay 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌

Ok?
5:45 could be perfect for the Mario movie when it comes out
4:56 It's 90th Anniversary fanfare.
Not really, it's more of a modified version what was heared in the ET 20th Anniversary Cut, since John Williams did both fanfares
Isn’t it a little weird how the Universal fanfare is only, like, 20 years old? The one we know was introduced in 1997.
In first 2 Pitch Perfect movies, the Universal Pictures fanfare is in acapella and high tone like PAL unlike NTSC / normal tone version.
1990s fanfare never gets old, along with the An American Tails songs.
“Do you ever miss the girl, you left behind…?”
The fanfare theme for Dark Universe was composed by Danny Elfman
He’s also composed Regency Enterprise fanfare

Agreed. Same with Jerry Goldsmith.

This is really cool, thanks for putting this together.
Universal Pictures made some good movies (Back to the Future, Jaws, An American Girl: Isabelle Dances into the Spotlight, etc)
The Mummy (1999), The Fast And Furious, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.
Curious George, Woody Woodpecker (one of Universal Studios official mascot) and Illumination's Despicable Me and Minions series also.
Didn't realize until this video the 1936 and 1997 fanfares are similar to each other XD
The *1997-2012 fanfare* will always be my personal favorite Universal Pictures fanfare.

the 1936 fanfare gives major 20th century fox vibes
Makes me wonder if Alfred Newman ever thought about suing them…
But the fanfare did its originality so Alfred thinking about suing them for a company that's 111 years old!
