Cal is the head honcho of vibists. This album takes me away (like Calgon, lol) to a serene poolside party in the 60s, and my real world melts away for half an hour. Really sublime-- with the strings' lush accompaniment.
Claus Ogerman is an excellent arranger/conductor. Nice and sweet tunes with a romantic touch. Cal Tjader would have been the perfect counterpart of George Shearing. Nice flowing strings makes this the perfect music for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Enjoy folks, G’day & Cheers!
Ogerman paid significant contribution to the Jobim/Gilberto-sound. Cal Tjader's early recordings are more spicy than this one, in my ears. Try his 'Modern Mambo Quintet', out of 1954. Specially 'Mamblues'. Swinging to the craze ! Stay right, amigo(s).
@@gabchaim8232 i will check those out. This “Sweet & Lovely” style. Have never been a Cal Tjader fan, found him a bit sugary if you know what i mean. Be well Gab, G’day & Cheers!
Love it wonderfull....... From Spain!!!!!!!!! A lot of memories NOSTALGICCCCC CAL TJADER REALLY ITS MAGIC...... A WONDERFULL SMOOTH MAGIC WITH MUSIC,,,,, GREETINGS FROM SPAIN!!!!
Evokes images of sophisticated 60's nightclub scenes from Hollywood romcoms of that time; dry martinis, sparkling conversation full of clever double entendres, and meaningful looks traded over the table. Any ladies up for a quick trip around the dance floor and a long nightcap?
