    when I was younger I always thought pressure points were pure bullshit. But as time passed and I went through college and did my residency program to become a maxillofacial surgeon, I found out that there's actually an anatomical and physiological explanation to those points. Some are just sensitive areas, but others like the carotid triangle can trigger a vasovagal reaction and make you pass out.

    You need to realize that St 9 is a lethal point. One needs to be mindful of what one shares with the world. There are very good reasons why most people should not know about these things. Chief among them is that knowledge such as this needs to dwell in the enlightened. Any criminal can watch this and go out and destroy a family somewhere. Please be mindful.

      St 9 (Renying) is probably the most popularized meridian, targeted by the commonly called "karate-chop". He didn't show it here.

    • @KieranTong
      @KieranTong 8 років тому +1

      +Notchnik When I started my kung fu training, the first day I wore a uniform, I wore a black sash. :-) It was only because the sash had to hold up my pants. Haha. But if you were referring to this Master wearing something looking a lot like a Japanese gi (Its not a kimono... that is different) with a black belt... yes, it is interesting. I highly doubt Chinese kung fu masters like him learned to wear uniforms like that from his sifu. It's too bad because his knowledge, from what he presents here, is pretty good.

    • @Notchnik
      @Notchnik 8 років тому

      Kieran: yeah I have a black belt too to hold my pants :D Thanks for the info about gi, I'm not expert on japanese styles, so I don't know too much differsnce between gi and kimono ;) I do chinese MA, that's why I'm saying he shouldn't be wearing gi with belt in this video, if he likes to train in this clothes it's up to him, but he shouldn't be presenting CMA in gi, that's all my point here. It confuses many people and gives a
      false information about CMA....

    • @KieranTong
      @KieranTong 8 років тому +1

      Notchnik You are absolutely right. I think that since so many westerner CMA teachers are using the Japanese ranking systems as models for their own CMA schools, some also started to the Japanese uniform as well (including belts instead of sashes). Maybe its because they don't know any better or they think it's better for marketing since Karate is more commercial. Either way, I agree with you that it is not good or right. Japanese and Chinese are different cultures and part of the kung fu experience should be to learn a little or a lot (depending on the teacher) of Chinese culture as well, not 'Asian' culture. I have kung fu brothers across Europe, North, Central, and South America, Australia, and Asia, and all of us use either t-shirts for classes and/or some kind of Chinese clothing for more formal activities such as tournaments, demos, or seminars, etc.

    there are some really nasty ones that my father used to use on me as a kid... one on the hand between the thumb and forefinger and two on the foot... one on the back of the heal and another on the top of the foot. I recently saw this old man in karate use the one on the top of the foot with his big toe.
    I've never managed to find where these points are but they used to really hurt... you only ever kicked my father once and never again. The other one he used to do was not a pressure point but if you ever went to bite him on the arm then he would push his arm hard into the bite forcing the jaw apart - that used to really hurt too.
    He did this really rare form of karate whose name I don't remember but it was a lot based on finishing moves that utilised pressure points. I had a book he gave me as a child that lists all the points but I passed it on to my nephew. The karate that I learned used locks borrowed from aikido which are easier to implement than pressure points - but there is nothing more impressive than bringing someone down to their knees in pain with just a finger or thumb.

    I’ve done martial arts for most of my life and later on have got into boxing. Pressure points are some of the hardest spots on the body to hit especially during a fight or flight moment. It takes years of training to connect to these positions on the fly. Most women watching this video for self-defense will be severely injured while trying to perform these moves.

    Kung Fu isn't the Chinese martial arts it is from India .
    A young Prince name Bodhidharman or Chinese people called ( Dhamu ot Tamo ) is the one who thought the Chinese people kalaripayattu Vidya .
    But they called it kung fu .
    Because of they can't spell the word kalaripayattu Vidya is a Ancient Indian language which known as Sanskrit . That's why they called it Kung Fu .
    The Kalaripayattu Vidya is the world's oldest martial arts .
    which is nowadays only see in South Indian state called Kerala .
    The Kerala people protecting it from extending from our world .
    You have question on my word
    You search it on Google
    About Bodhidharma
    Or you go to the Shaolin Temple
    Search it like
    Who is the founder of Shaolin Temple ?
    who is Bodhidharma ?

    Thanks. Nice video. Well presented and with a humble attitude and approach. I've been involved in Okinawan Shorin-Ryu karate for over 38 years. Had my own dojo back in the 80's. I've dealt with a few pressure points but not too too many. Great to know. Again, thanks..

    It is true that when you consecrate much time, effort, blood, sweat and tears to a particular endeavour with focus, your level of skill will be superior. Also having the right teacher and practising with the correct intent and motivation also strengthen this fact. This is obvious, however that being a universal truth of any undertaking, Gung Fu practitioners wear Gung Fu clothes or no uniform to show respect to there art. As per my original point of observation.

  • @1dabut1
    @1dabut1 11 років тому

    no offense, but any time i see a white guy, calm down, i'm a white guy, teaching Kung fu, actualy it's Gung Fu, i have to laugh. my son took lesson from Grand Master Hu Ji Kiang, at one point the highest ranking Gung Fu martial artist in this country, and this clown isn't qualified to wash Master Hu's Silks. you just cannot compare someone who was training 7 days a week, 8 to 10 hours a day from the time they were 7, to someone that picked up the sport at what ever age.

  • @3AmberScorpions
    @3AmberScorpions 11 років тому

    Usually people dressed in Karate Gi's from my experience are teaching Karate or Kempo. People dressed in traditional Chinese clothes are teaching Gung Fu or Tai Chi. Also both are also taught in plane clothes. They wear the uniform to pay homage to there teachers and the art. Because of the many fighting between the cultures one would not be caught dead wearing the others traditional uniform out of respect to there lineage.

  • @3AmberScorpions
    @3AmberScorpions 11 років тому

    Just like the Chinese stole everything from Tibet right? For someone who is so knowledgeable you would also have noticed that in Gung Fu the sash is tied on the side if the body as opposed to in the front and also the uniform closes on the side to. Japan was influenced but like every culture and society, Country, there is a sense of intrinsic individualism that is always present. I guess you have never seen a Shaolin Monks uniform. Maybe not ancient enough for you.

    i dont think you understand what the word jumped means...if ur walking down a street in LA and 3 guys you have never seen b4 start to attack you for ur stuff, i dont care about honor or respect, im going to do what i can 2 protect my self and any thing i own (unless they pull out a gun not gonna lose my life over stuff that can be replaced) p.s what bullies? i havent had a bully since like 4th grade. so again ur argument is invalid. try again ^.^

    back when i was in high school me and a budy got jumped by 6-7 guys. and yes i do know how to fight but when you get over whelmed and all ur trying to do is survive by not doing any thing you can to get out of that situation where you might lose ur life, you dont deserve that life if ur not willing to do anything to keep it.

  • @soldsail
    @soldsail 11 років тому

    Either way works for me, if I'm acting in self defense, I will attack any exposed body part. Its not as much about honor, its more about survival. No respectable man or woman would have let it become a physical confrontation in the first place, so I do not believe respect comes into play in the fight anyway.

    This type of Gi as become the standard wear for schools of different types of martial arts. Because so many of these are manufactured, the prices are not incredibly high as they would be for other types of combat training uniforms.

    Self pressure-pointing doesn't work, you know when to resist, it's like slapping yourself, you know what amount of force is going to hurt, if someone else is slapping you, you are not sure what force they will apply. It goes the same for pressure points.

    Indian martial arts adimurai, Kalarippayattu have 108 pressure points our system is more concentrated on pressure point attacks. We have a special traditional attacking system called Varma adi (pressure point hits) the gurus (teachers) teach this technique only to students who are good in character and those who don't hurt anyone because those who use it the death of the opponent are dam sure 😅. We call the armpit pressure point kashathrik. Using this causes a loss of Ability of the hand to raise by doing marumramma( the treatment against pressure point attack) may come back. Our teachers told us not to do full-hand only below half-hand. Below the armpit, we have a pressure point called shvasam adappan ( respiratory block) one single hit leads to stopping breathing and death doing the treatment for that leads back to life (one who taught Kalaripayattu, varama adi, adimurai are taught the treatment method
