    Thanks for the history lesson, Sergey. What some people may consider depressing I personally consider the architecture and history of the buildings. Great drone coverage too!

      EMS - this architectural heritage is well known. I’ve read references of all kinds in news articles or in commentaries across the States...and here it all is, The Soviet legacy. It really all existed. However, in college or else where you only got a picture showing one building at a time. This is a great video.

    There is nothing depressing about those old soviet buildings. They look much better than the projects up in Harlem or the Bronx.

Lovely presentation, great drone shots, Sergey you are getting even better at making videos as time goes on. ( I know it takes a lot of time to edit them so I want to say to you 'good job' ! )

      It is possible to make buildings like that more appealing on the outside too. There are some projects around the world to give mass produced buildings like this a more classicist look. Then you will have a well planned and green living environment with practical apartments AND a beautiful exterior.
      These houses is anyway better than what they are building in my city right now: rust houses (use Google Translate). Houses like this is purposely built to be ugly and the Soviet houses wasn't MEANT to be ugly anyway (yes, the whole house is covered with sheet metal that is meant to to rust and the house in the picture was built last year) : malmo.lokaltidningen.se/nyheter/2019-03-19/-Omtalat-rosthus-utn%C3%A4mnt-till-%C3%A5rets-fulaste-byggnad-%E2%80%93-men-%C3%A4r-MKBs-mest-popul%C3%A4ra-hus-att-flytta-till-4444978.html

      Sergey,
      I am a little bit hurt by your response. I hold you in the highest regard. The effort you put forth to put these videos out, uses much time in a day. I offer my comments to encourage you, and hopefully one day Vika, to as many videos as possible. They are interesting, entertaining, and informative. Your videos are much different than that Bald and Bankrupt fellow. You can't do such videos because you are a responsible family man. I am convinced that you are getting a bigger and bigger following because the brightness of your spirit and purity of your heart shines brightly from all your videos. Stay Blessed. You already many of us love and respect you greatly....

    • @realrussiablog
      @realrussiablog  5 років тому +3

      It was not my intention to hurt you at all. I just found it's important to mention I do not use the scripting. The thing is it was a principal position from the very beginning of my vlog. I wouldn't leave TV channel where I worked before UA-cam to keep making TV stuff on UA-cam. Usually it was always obvious I speak live but here it may seem I use scripting because the scenes are changing while drone shots. The thing is narration was made live. I prefer to prepare very well and speak live instead of pre-written recorded narration. You will never sound natural in a studio. Thanks for good words and appreciation!

    Whatever one thinks of the Soviet architecture, it's hard to deny the beauty of those parks. Great video!

  • @mrvk39
    @mrvk39 5 років тому +9

    I know in the West the image of Soviet-style apartment complexes is something brutalist and run-down. But, the reason the image exists is because these were filmed when former USSR was in a deep depression and nothing was maintained. When Soviet apartment complexes are well-maintained, they are very people-friendly. You see all the green spaces between buildings, you see all these kindergardens and small schools inside these large apartment complex parks - which, if you think about it, is very kid-friendly. Kids can go to school by themselves, in the safety of being inside a large city block - no big roads to cross, no questionable stores, clubs, bars, etc.

    There's trees everywhere between each and every block and the parks looking amazing with their patterns for the paths. If you get me. I am really enjoying all the views from the new drone. If all those blocks of apartments were built in a hurry after the war to house people desperate for homes. They built them very well. They are still there and are not ugly. Really nice with all those trees. & schools within walking distance and play areas, markets etc. Well thought out. Much better thought out then some of our ugly blocks of apartments in our nation. Built without any care of the neighbourhood but for the money. Not so in Russia. Better plans and better considerations. Bet there's a lot less cleaning and vacuuming to do in an apartment than in a house.

    That is a nice area and as I see the many apartment buildings I wondered how the fire department is planning on evacuating the buldings in case of a fire. I saw that on another friend's site and wondered the same thing, and she live in the Moscow area.

    Nicely shot & edited video it must have taken a while to put all that together. All those facts crammed in too. One think I wonder, with everything owned by the state in Soviet days, how did they go about turning into private properties ?
