As someone who left the church over a decade ago with similar issues, I so appreciate you speaking for accountability. You are a unique voice among christians.
I came from a broken church as well. I still have issues with organized religion. I pray for the congregation, especially those whose faith is not solid .
What a sad day in which we live, so sorry for your endurance of what selfishness and pride of mens evil hearts exhibited. I pray along with you that the God will continue to "clean His house" and expose sin in our altars. I don't know your circumstances but pray His sustaining love will draw you closer and back to Him, once again, if you're still offended. It's not Him we need to draw from but the sin that lurks in the hearts and minds of these perpretrators. God bless you.
I've walked with the Lord for over 30 years, and served in leadership as well. I can tell you that the underlying issue is that in a number of cases pastors recruit elders that are pretty much loyal yes men. The congregation votes on the elders to the board but the congregation is generally uninformed about specifics. I have experienced this reality first hand. The Gateway/Shady Grove Church elders should have asked for all the details of Morris's story and interviewed the girl for her part of the story but they took the easy way out and apparently investigated nothing. Outrageous!! If you are an elder, you are obligated to get to the truth and protect the body of Christ even if it involves a "highly gifted" teaching pastor.
I agree. I've seen first hand many elders be "yes-men" and afraid of confrontation. If you can't have hard conversations and go after sin like a bloodhound- don't become an elder. Cowards.
THEY TOOK THE EASY WAY OUT BECAUSE THEY HAD SEEN THE TRUTH! DO THEY SHOUT OUT THE TRUTH OR DO THEY JEOPARDIZE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS$$ OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WHEN THE WORD GETS OUT THAT THE ESTEEMED PASTOR MORRIS [INSERTED HIS FINGERS] INTO A 12 YO GIRL WHO STILL PLAYED WITH HER DOLLIES??? THAT WAS THE UNDERLYING ISSUE! NO NEED TO STRAIN YOUR BRAIN ON THIS ONE!
The law since 1971 is that any professional including pastors, teachers, counselors or doctors must report a known crime to the police within 48 hours. This includes Shady Groves in 1987 and Gateway in 2005.
Thank you for looking this up... I've been arguing with ppl who say that this was already dealt with biblically, that the elders in fact *did not* approach this in a biblical way... Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."
I heard they hired a law firm to investigate this whole situation and get to the truth of what happened. I’m not sure I would describe that as “lawyered up”.
@ignitedfwi think that is the most sensible thing,to know both sides!! for one thing the woman is not using good sense or proper way of dealing with the past8if she wanted to confront him alone, because no pastor should be alone with a woman!! and she shouldn't want to be alone with a man!!
Are you serious right now? She was a 12 year old preteen child. The law says that age difference and the power difference makes any action she takes as irrelevant. You need to reply to your own comment and beg forgiveness to the world for your ignorant and disgusting response.
My concern is IF they did not know his victim was a 12 year old, how could they possibly protect the children of the church? They could not! How many children were left vulnerable to his attacks? People who violate children in this way almost never have just one victim. Look it up.
They are lying. The victim sent an email in 2005 informing them on the molestation and her age. She asked for $50,000 for years of counseling to deal with the act. They offered her $25,000 if she signed an NDA, which is not law abiding in the case of a crime. She refused and now she is speaking out. The Elders are doing damage control because they all aided in the cover up of a crime.
So there was no investigation into what he told them? There was a victim? Hello! You just believe him? And when women comes forward about their husband who is abusing her and the kids, you not only shun her, disbelieve her, make her feel guilty and do nothing!?! Such a grotesque double standard! Do you not know you all will stand before God and give an account for what you didn’t do? Shame on the patriarchy! The same goes on in the world and you are no better. Shame!
I believe the Lord God is very angry.,. He said in His word the Bible.., it is better for you to have a milestone rapped around your neck and thrown into the sea then to hurt one of His little ones…. Morris will have to stand before God and explain his actions.,,,Big wake up call brother ,,,, your evil and it’s time you get exposed!

⚠️ People, let these exposures be a warning. Judgment begins with His house, and He said anyone who loves Him will keep His commandments. It is a wrathful thing to fall into His hands of wrath. Night is coming, and the Lord is exposing the Mother of Harlots and will distinguish her from His Bride. Many claiming Him will see Hell for there lawlessness. While the is not qualified, may he truly repent and live a repentant life with this as part of His testimony of how the Lord can restore anyone. This hurts my heart as a preacher's kid who had also been molested, first time in my own home, BUT I dont want to see even this man see Hell for eternity. May he truly get it right with the Lord. ❤

As a PK's kid, I know you saw and heard, more than you needed too. The Lord bless you dear.
Boldness for what? Why does it take boldness to proclaim to the entire world someone else's sin? It would be bold to confess our OWN sins -- but easy to point fingers at others' iniquities. Not condoning his sin but even thoughts of impurity are sinful in God's eyes. And when she was 16 and 17 -- didn't she know what they were doing was wrong?
@@Michael-od6diIf you care about Robert Morris you will let Almighty God deal with him. Any human who sexually abuses a child like Morris did for 4 years, as stated is not well morally and needs serious help and should be dealt with using the full force of the law. This may just be the beginning of him truly being delivered from this scourge. It usual starts with exposure then true repentance.

The law at the time stated that people in authority such as doctors, teachers, pastors etc, should report a criminal offense immediately.

Right this is what I'm wondering. If Cindy told her parents at age 17 and then they took it to the church elders whatever then those elders the church whoever they all knew her age that she was a little girl and it happened through her teens. Get me? So why didn't her parents press charges? Take it to the police the law??
You are right on. HE should have been fired and he should serve time in Jail just like everyone else that committed this Crime. The Fact that he says he was in a inappropriate relationship with a young lady instead of a child is so disturbing on every level. The elders should invite anyone else that could have been possibly abused by Robert Morris to come forward and assure them that they will be supported by the elders and staff at Gateway Church. God Bless you Cindy for having the courage "again" for bringing this darkness into the light

Do you also believe Donald Trump should be condemned? And "fired"? He has not only been found guilty of raping a 57 year old woman but one of the dozens of women alleging he sexually assaulted them alleges she was 13 years old when Trump raped her at the home of Jeffrey Epstein (then a good friend of Trump) in 1998. She alleges that she went to what she was told was a NYE party at Epstein's apartment in NYC but found only Trump and Epstein and some other underage girls were there. Her name is Katie Johnson. Shouldn't we believe the dozens of Trump's victims and demand he step down? How can we as christians condone that? Shouldn't leaders and presidents be held up to high standards as well?
They're not ignorant. They're as guilty as he is for hiding these horrible actions. That's what they do. The authorities should investigate to see if they're more innocent victims. We need to pray for this nation.
Neither you nor I KNOW what they actually KNEW in the beginning. That is an ASSUMPTION, and it MIGHT be correct, or NOT. Yes, American Christians tend to want to believe our spiritual leaders when they hear such "stories." But when someone uses evasive, vague, "weasel" words and phrases, and the ELDERS are reluctant to listen to the Spirit, face the doubt, narrow their eyes, confront the leader, and ask uncomfortable, probing questions about the narrative, that's where the Church fails and can become complicit. It behooves them to make themselves aware of all the details. It didn't always used to be this way, but in this last generation or two this is what we have become. But AFTER you learn something that casts doubt on everything you thought you knew, the first person who brings it up tends to get shut down and it's very hard to fight against still in denial. That tells you that following and enforcing Biblical rules and guidelines is avoided among too many churches. It's considered "legalistic." People who shade the truth (lie) and have a long history of doing it can be good at it and very convincing. "Oh what a tangled web we weave When first we practice to deceive." Sir Walter Scott ONLY God actually knows. WE should never make assumptions one way or another lest WE be guilty before God of false accusation, which is in the same category as gossip.😬 We should remember Jesus words: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." And I'm not just saying this to you, this is something I have to practice, we all have to practice. Especially in this digital world.
100% agree. They should absolutely make a public statement encouraging anyone else to come forward with information and concerns of abuse. The investigation should include the date the abuse began up to now and seek out anyone who could have known and has since covered for Robert morris. I live very close to this church and have attended their events for women. I hope my home church addresses this news on Sunday and assures our congregation abuse will always be reported.
Sometimes I am critical of those who waited so long to come forward with their allegations of abuse. And then I remember my own abuse more than 50 years ago that I’ve never told anyone and won’t tell. So thank you to those with the strength to come forward even if it’s been many many years.
I told my sister re gently what my brother did to me 60 years ago. I felt relief and cried pain I didn't know was still there. You need to tell someone, please and then allow God to heal. You.
You have been given the courage to tell us readers, your brothers and sisters in Christ, sweetheart, and we weep for you beloved Child of God. We weep for you.
You have my total support and prayers. When a child is abused they are robbed of their voice and it can take decades to recover it, if at all. Trust is not always easy to recover. Please don't suffer in silence. If all you can do is to get a box of tissues, sit on your couch, and bare your soul to God with tears - please let it out.
Listen to Justin Peters interview with Pastor Stephen Le Blanc and you will know that two of the senior elders ,one of whom is still at Gateway, knew the victim was a 12 year old child and covered up and allowed the false narrative of a young lady to prosper. In fact anyone who is interested in truth and justice should watch the video.
No you are right on target in this horrific crime against this young child CINDY she needs to have JUSTICE for her and Morris needs to be accountable for his crime of rape and molestation of a child
@@MaryJoEvans-q6y coming from a law enforcement background she and her parents should have reported this incident and if she went to counseling for this and mentioned it to the counselor by law you have to report the incident. My question to Cindy why didn’t she report it to the police years ago
@@DebbieMelson Apparently is was never reported to the police by anyone. My question exactly, and why wait 35 years when other children could be in danger?
Yes, I agree 💯 percent on this topic that was being spoken. The best thing to do is now is continue to ask the Lord for wisdom and discern and get the right authorities in place for this crime that was committed. And sought out everything. I pray that this lady now will be healed and delivered and set free from being sexually abused and heal from her past traumas and traumas that she is facing even now on the exposure of it. In Jesus name Amen 🙏.
jUst wondering -- why was it necessary to tell the world about this sin, in order for her to be healed of this abuse? Could God have healed her without the whole world knowing?
Sometimes it does not matter if when we mention it's because either we feel like we need to be more set free because the truth is going to set us free and sometimes the churches are not teaching us how to be healed and delivered and set free and also we need to be set free from traumas that's another level of healing and deliverance there's several levels of healing and deliverance with the Lord and maybe God told her to reveal it because it was time
Also, the church should have known this type of sin that took place but was not dealt with this properly, nor opened truthfully within the four walls of the church. Her speaking it out publicly was probably her breaking through more of her healing and freedom to this sinful act that was done to her. The way it should have been dealt with in the first place. Yes, she could have been set free also behind closed doors and not exposed it. But again, may be she needed to do this because the Lord may have led her to do this.
@sweetsopcomedy1458 I'm not sure crimes punishable by law can be handled solely by the church. The Corinthians teaching refers to small civil disputes, I believe.
Prayers for her restoration and exposure of sin in the leadership of Gateway, and the church in general. The Lord does no want wolves in sheep’s guise assaulting His children!
Everything you said is spot on. If not the richest church, they are one of the richest churches in the country and leadership is freaking out that they are about to loose their cash cow.
@lorribondurant9217 Wrong no the TRUE CHURCH WHICH IS THE BODY OF CHRIST! (eph 1:23)Jesus said many will come in that day and he will say I NEVER KNEW YOU DEPART FROM NE YOU WORKERS OF INIQUITY! Just because you are a pastor and have a megachurch 🙄🙄 doesn't mean you are a TRUE BELIEVER ! JESUS SAID I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH AND THE GATES OF HELL WILL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST I matt 16:28
Unfortunately that is why there are reoccurrences of these sinful Matt ers because they need to be corrected through the spirit. If the church does it it will be done through the spirit. For only He knows how to get all the sin out of us hence the apostle said deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh. And that spirit said! Imagine....
So sad for the body of Christ. Praying for everyone involved! There is justice in the natural if crimes were committed and obedience to God to petition Him for pastors repentance and restoration.
Thank you, Brother, for this insightful, honest, and exhaustive reporting on this issue, so far. The church is undergoing examination by Jesus Christ. We need to walk in the fear of the Lord, and obey His commands. I am disgusted by Robert Morris's actions, but sadly not surprised. The church is being run by a bunch of cowardly sycophants who wave the Bible, but know nothing about obeying it. God help us. I was away from church for several years, and have recently returned. I thank God that I never worshipped a pastor. How dangerous is that kind of idolatry. Upon returning, I see that nothing has changed except the number of pastors and leaders who are acting atrociously.
This is heart braking for the church. I would not want to be on their church board. Come clean and move forward quickly. Pastor Morris must go immediately. Will he be forgiven through repentance, yes ? That’s the gospel message but he’s done being a pastor. This is a very sad situation. Complete truth must be revealed. The statute of limitations might protect him legally but he is done as a pastor .
Morris should have been called out years ago for his aberrant heretical blasphemous false teachings this goes with that territory so let’s add liar and perversion to his CV ! ALL who knew should step down too and I truly hope this precious and courageous woman gets justice and any others because I doubt Morris stopped at one
But for the Grace of God...There go I. It's horrible, abhorrent and sinful what he did and God will be the judge, but Christians are some of the least grace filled people on earth. No excuses for his behavior but comments like this is exactly why Gandhi said, "If it weren't for Christians, I would be one". Love it when people rush to the front of the line to team up with the accuser of the brethren.
@@rb5825 no, it's relevant. When a leader does not follow the Bible in one way, it's reflected elsewhere in what they say and teach, and they become a false shepherd. If we do not listen to the Spirit (and if we are ACTUALLY His disciples, we DO have Him in us), especially those to whom He has given discernment, we are no better than those elders. It's actually people who say things like YOU just said who make it hard for people who see something is wrong to be heeded. The Bible warns about that. It is not just leaders and elders who will be held to account at the judgment day for those whose names are written in the Book of Life, it will be US, too.
@@rb5825 Julie is not deflecting, only sharing an additional truth about RM. The Word does not instruct us to only turn our ear away from false teachers. I applaud Cindy for her courage and boldness to come forward and tell her story. I can relate to her story completely as I was a victim of a pastor's abuse when I was 11. Thankfully, I told my mother as soon as it happened and my parents called the authorities first, then the church elders. The elders immediately terminated him and he went to prison. That is what should have happened in this case. Yes, God will give him forgiveness if he truely repents, but he should still have to suffer the consequences. Why was it necessary for Robert Morris sins of nearly 40 years ago, for which he repented of and took off 2 years away from the ministry to repent of, and then never sinned again in this way, -- why was it necessary for this to be proclaimed to the world in order for justice to be served? So he could be shamed and ridiculed, mocked and hated by millions? Is it scriptural?

Lawyering up, how expected. I'm guessing these elders will let him keep his multi-million new build "parsonage" mansion in most expensive neighborhood in Southlake.
He is only financially obligated to Gateway based on any pastoral employment document he may have signed which outlines financial penalties based on behavior while employed or, as articulated, may surface while he was occupying the pastoral position.. his personal worth may include housing or other gifts given to pastors as part of the compensation package.. They vary church to church. He was permitted to resign as it probably impacts the departure package vs a firing for cause.. but what he owns through prior compensation including personal books sales belongs to Morris unless as contractually provided for in his agreement..the Elders cannot arbitrarily repatriate income just because.. it’s certain that Morris,, at a minimum, will end up with a significant monetary impact. It might become much worse, ,legally.. none of this glorifies our savior..pray..
No surprise that they are lawyering up. According to a former staff member at this sham of a church there were several elders and/or people in leadership positions at this organization who knew the truth and knew the victim was an innocent child and not a young woman at the time she was assaulted. As recently as 2005 the victim reportedly told the churchbeldersnthe truth. These elders are in my opinion despicable. Robert Mirris in his own word ls admitted he sought out vulnerable girls. These offenses as reported by this victim constituted rape of a child and as such were reportable offenses.Reporedly one of the individuals who knew this had a background in law enforcement. He and anyone else who knew the details and failed to report it as a mandated reported should be in prison along with this pedophile and child rapist. His statement about the offense after the story broke clearly demonstrates he has no remorse. What kind of miserable excuses for human beings much less Christians puts someone like this in a position ot authority over a church body including children? Furthermore the wife of Robert Morris allegedly blamed the 12yr old victim. In my opinion she is.jusr as disgusting as he is.
How disgusting IS all this evil. What does JESUS think about that?? LORD give US shephards after your own Heart. These people need to be in jail. There is No true repentance ,only Cover Up. My Heart goes Out to the Girl WHO got so wounded and all abused and was left alone and knew this Guy IS pastoring a church!!!! Really ??? I can Just throw Up. Pure evil
I've personally witnessed and seen the intentional dismissive attitudes of church leaders , elders and others in authority positions when questionable or immoral behaviors are brought before them. Just like the worldly good old boys do in their secular positions. Many churches across America will come under God's judgment ...which begins in the house of the Lord. God is coming for a church without spot or wrinkle!!!
This so sad and disgusting Let all of us pray for Cindy and her family.. Robert Morris and all of the elders involved in this cover up should be held responsible both criminally and via the civil courts.
Loretta Lynn married at 13 and had 4 kids by age 18. Yes, she can be referred to as a young lady. In Muslim countries, they marry them younger than 12.
Robison and Olen Griffing were and are still ELDERS When they learned 4 and a half years after the grooming he performed, the victim went to her parents and they went to the board. Robison and Griffing dropped Morris off at the door of Shady Grove Church for a sabbatical. For two years Morris stepped out. Yes, they were knowledgeable. Makes me sick all the times Robison had Morris in his TV ministry show hawking his books. Complicit completely. Fat cats with pride who knew and rather than do the right thing they protected Morris, propped him up and kept getting financial gain.

The Elders pleaded ignorance!? That in itself is shocking. "You shall hear a voice behind you say, "This is the way, walk ye in it." I am a simple Believer, I hold no office, but I heard the voice of the Holy Spirit warn me that a person was "nefarious". I had never heard that word before and had to check in a dictionary to understand its meaning. I was shocked when I learned what it meant. I praise GOD for letting me know the truth about that person. Now, if GOD's Holy Spirit will warn a nobody like me about the character of a person that was in my life, then surely HE warns people holding office in churches of the sinfulness of their pastor? If they are not capable of protecting the flock, then they need to be replaced with people who know how to hear from GOD.
This is an example of why it is crucial for churches to select elders who are not yes men, or who are so invested that they cannot see despicable sin and biblically deal with it. Exhortation gifted leaders are absolutely necessary!
Statute of limitations was extended to 30 years after the time the victim turns 18. What Morris did was a felony & he should be charged. He is a child predator. No doubt there is a lot of powerful big TX money donors who are protecting Morris which is why he was allowed to resign. His wife & toddler were living in the same home at the same time that the 12-year old child was groomed molested/raped by Robert Morris. His wife blamed the child. The wife was the daughter of a well-known preacher Osteen & the sister to mega church preacher Joel Osteen.
I am so glad that God’s grace is not like people. He puts our sins in the sea of forgetfulness. People never forget, and like Satan, continually remind us! We all have sin in our past, but we are new creations in Christ. I am praying for Robert Morris. A murderer can be forgiven, but preachers can not? What he did was terrible . He repented. It is obvious to me that there are others that need to repent as well! Jesus is coming soon!
God bless you! Preach it Loud and Preach it Bold. Prayers to all who have been affected by the conduct of Pastor Morris and others. Prayers to the congregation. May they follow God and not the Man.
I'm praying for everyone involved in this situation! I'm also trusting God to be sovereign God's word will not return void.. we have no authority to condemn any of the elders without knowing everything that was involved. The Bible tells us to be slow to speak and quick to hear . Fishing for assumed crimes and gossiping and alleging at some point is not righteous behavior..
I feel bad for Robert Morris because he repented of this and took off two years of his life - out of ministry, as discipline and was then restored. God can and does restore. He restored David. He restored many who have fallen into temptation. Now Morris, who was formerly respected, is contemptible to the whole world and hated.
@@Michael-od6diI believe if he was sorry for what he did to a child, he would have pulled out his checkbook with a generous heart of recompense. Instead he ignored her and let his elders intimidate her.

THE PARENTS TRUSTED THEIR CHURCH AND PASTOR MORRIS WAS AN ORDAINED WELL RESPECTED PASTOR! IF YOU CANNOT TRUST THE LEADER OF YOUR CHURCH , THEN WHO? QUIT BLAMING THE PARENTS AND BLAME THE PREDATOR PEDOPHILE!
I also watched him on TBN years ago. Its so sad when they loose their belief and fall. He needs for huge and humble repentance. God is such an amazing, good, loving God. We all fall, but He understands when we ask for repentance. ❤
Yes if he was repentant for what he did, not that he got caught. Also God will forgive but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t do a jail term. Look what happened to David when he lied with his best friend’s wife.
@@cliffsnelgrove3560 The statement said he did r epent, had 2 years off ministry, asked for foregiveness and received it from t he father and her way back when. How long does sin get to dog us when Christ died for it and said he who is without sin to cast the first stone. If you are still suffering from your own abuse it is between you and God to work it out, if in fact your perpetrator has not confessed or asked forgiveness either. I'm so sorry.
@@cliffsnelgrove3560 I'm sorry but a young girl of 12 IS a young lady. In the Bible, they married at this age. In Muslim countries they marry younger than 12 today! He did not lie. He used wording that was not detailed, but it was not a lie.
Hard to believe her dad did not have the fortitude to take this to the police and report this 4.5 years of molestation of his kid. Is he still alive? Both the father and elders failed Cindy. Prayers to all.
Let this be a lesson to the rest of us to not bring grown men around our children, irrespective of all the "titles" they have from any Church. Let's foot the bill for the motel instead, it is safer and cheaper than decades of counselling, suicidal ideation, and all the pain that comes with SA.
If There’s no statute of limitations on this, he needs to be charged, prosecuted and imprisoned. Forgiveness has been done by the church, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t serve his sentence. If his heart was right he’d have surrendered to the law years ago to endure punishment. The fact he swept it under the rug implies no actual repentance. Do the crime do the time. And they’re never a one time offender. Never are they ever reformed. It’s a continual problem.
I fight for my faith regularly and people like Morris give me and my faith a black eye. They should have reported to the police and he can confess to them. This man is a predator by his own words. Saying he would seek out certian little girls by his predatory criteria. And Mrs. Morris called this young girl and demanded an apology. The victimization against this little girl by Morris, his wife, and elders. And protected the predator. I do not want to hear any disgusting excuses. If you work there, may God be with you.
To be honest. I was molested when I was young as well by an older male relative. And I had no counseling. Although I’m not perfect but I forgave the person and I haven’t had any major issues throughout my life. While it was wrong yes. I don’t know what kind of healing I am missing. When we forgive it removes bitterness. What other healing am I missing ?
I am sorry for what happen to you, but you are missing the point that morris is a PUBLIC PERSON OF FAITH, and he is misleading many by lying and by fabricate the real event.
Wow!!! Excellent commentary. I suspected institutional preservation was going on based on the elders' responses too, I just hadn't been able to label it like that as a way to describe how I was feeling. So, as a current member of Gateway Church, I feel you are not off base in what you are saying about all of this at all. And I can also say that one of the most hurtful things of this whole process has been the reaction of the elders in response to this crisis. If the church is "all about people" as their tag line states, then why did their own members have to find out about everything that happened through the media? Why did we not receive a personal email or text addressing the church body directly, explaining what happened and what the next steps are going to be? (And I don't mean hiring a law firm! Lol) Better yet, why have I not been invited to an all-church prayer meeting, or been offered pastoral counseling from the church, made available to all of its members, in order to help cope with such a devastating loss? And yes, ELDERS OF GATEWAY CHURCH: DON'T YOU WANT TO INVESTIGATE IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY MORE VICTIMS SINCE THE CHURCH'S INCEPTION? Robert Morris and the Gateway leadership have broken my trust. I, like many others I'm sure, are trying to figure out, pray, ask God about whether or not to leave the church. The existing Gateway leadership response will mean everything in the days ahead. I hope the leadership folks truly care and are listening. But unfortunately there has already been a track record of nontransparency and seeming lack of care or concern in some areas of the church, in my experience previously. In a culture of getting surveyed about how I've liked my time at a doctor's office or during a customer service call, I have yet, in my 17 years of attending Gateway- and volunteering my time and tithing God's money-received any kind of query from them asking for my opinion as to how the institution might be improved. This is a long comment I know so lastly I'll say that this commentary, Bob Hamp's commentary, and Cindy's courageous actions in speaking up, are brave, mighty, and downright historical, and I hope they start a seismic shift towards positive change/overhaul in all religious institutions. Thank you for your prayers. I too am praying for all involved.
He was my Pastor. I agree He & the staff that knew need to be held responsible, I love Him & care about Him and pray there are no other victims and that the victim already, gets full support of money owed to her for the abuse/ counseling. It’s time for the truth to come out of any others and it’s time for Gateway to pay and fire our Pastor, and those that knew, not give them an easy out, and I believe our church needs to see the lady as a victim and our Pastor during that time as a predator & make sure no other victims, but I love and I am praying for my pastor, knowing his past of as a kid being molested himself by more than 1 man & I know what that does ( it makes a lot of victims into predators.)
Not a pastor...found a way to feed his appetite through pastoring...Never should have been put back in any position ...jail time,he is a professional in controlling his outcome with his prey!
Having been sexually abused at age 12 myself from and older male , I can relate to Cindy and I know how this destroys her self esteem and will affect her in many ways for her whole life . I confronted my abuser and he laughed and said we were kids playing around although he forced himself on my and I lost my innocence forever 😭😭😭😤
The father should not have been the arbiter of his return to the Pulpit The Elders failed miserably in their role to protect the flock and must go as well
He said God told him he would be famous. Maybe that was the one time he really heard God, but not sure this was what Morris had in mind. Be careful what you wish for.
AYou who write off and set yourselves up as judges over him - remember, we have access to the same mercy throne room as Robert, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." is there some truth in the only army in the world who nails and shoots its own wounded is the Christian army?
That was "the god of this world" i.e the "god of mammon" i.e SATAN. Read Matthew 4. Fame and fortune was offered by Satan to Jesus and he rejected him and them, using Scripture. Morris has never been a CHRISTian by definition.
@@spencercourtis777 Have you ever read further in 1st John eg. chapters 3 thru 5? Have you read Romans 6? 2 Timothy 2:19b? Have you noticed that the ones Jesus doesn't know and rejects are the WORKERS OF INIQUITY (Matthew 7)??? "Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. *He that commits sin is of the devil* for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother" (1st John 3)
This often happens. The very people who are telling you to behave are actually telling you what their tendencies are. Haven’t you noticed that political candidates and religious figures promoting family values are often caught with their genitalia where it isn’t appropriate? Trump= sex abuser, rapist, bragged about sexually attacking women, liar, adulterer, swindler, and more; Jerry Falwell, Jr, -= a man who likes to watch his wife have sex with 18 year olds, and so many more! Time to wake up! Blind faith is no faith at all, but being led by someone else, true faith sees the traps, decides for self, to walk the line of righteous behavior. You have to look to yourself for the answers, those telling you how to behave, are too often simply in business for themselves. If your faith is real, you alone are responsible for it, not someone making a huge amount of money and power telling you what to do. Jesus Christ knew the temptations of wealth and power, and turned his back on them. He did not praise the rich, but preached against them (Eye of the Needle), found the religiously powerful people to be pseudo religious, holier than thou hypocrites (his comments upon the Pharisees), and when asked by some of his followers to claim earthly kingship, replied,”My Kingdom is not of this Earth.” Look long and hard at those building grandiose churches, traveling by private jet, claiming your money is needed to further their work, snd those who preach against others, or advocate condemnation of others. May your eyes. Be opened and your path straightened
The Elders don't want to lose the congregation cause they will lose their job and benefits. Forget the fact that a crime has been swept under the rug for years while children's lives were subjected to possible abuse. It's all about GREED.
WOW!! All the years I’ve listened to this man he has always talked about his perverse and immoral past though not revealing every detail. The age of this girl is unfortunate- I would not have liked this to be my grandchild. Never-the-less, if he confessed these things to His Lord, his wife and family, what is your problem people? What is happening in this country-denigrating, pulling down leaders, lying, and deceiving the citizens with false claims etc is evil, and comes straight from the pit of HELL. I though i don’t know all the details I love Pastor R. Morris and still support him. Most of you who are writing these comments, I believe, are not Christians at all. Did you ever read the scriptures: “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” Or JUDGE NOT, LEST YE BE JUDGED….or “Jesus came not for the righteous (like yourselves) but sinners to repentance” I think about Jesus on the cross-the same people who were shouting hosanna one day were shouting crucify him the next day!
You are kidding, right? The problem is he lied then, he lied for 35 years, and he lied this week. That is not repentance. Matthew says we are to judge a man by his fruits. Paul says I indeed judged him, meaning the man in such sexual sin.
God is coming for a church without spot or wrinkle, he is separating the wheat from the chaff. Jesus didn't trust men because He knew what was in their hearts. Through out scripture their is no holding back on prophets who committed sin; God exposes it before the world, and judges it , whether saved or unsaved.
What really wrong here is the elders let him stay as the head pastor all these years. Do you think that when you are in leadership that you stay silent to sin behind the scenes.. Why are you in leadership if you are not leading.
I think the fact that Morris admitted how he looked for girls that were venerable, that being said by him, says that there are probably more victims that are children.
I will never understand how that man confessed what he was doing with a young girl and those parents didn't do something back then that little girl was definitely older why didn't she say something back then and get her mom and dad on them then they should have kept at it until they had that man taken care of... I pray God's mercy and forgiveness over this whole situation but there has to be some accountability on many ends the elders Robert Morris and that parents why did they allow this to continue what was going on there
From the Justin Peters interview of several days ago, it because clear Mr. Morris (I won't honor him as a pastor of anything) has NOT truly repented because he has for years lied by calling his victim "a young lady". How many truly knew the truth? I don't know. That is on their own consciences. However, Mr. Morris has yet to repent if this remains the case. If he has truth left in him, he should freely own up to this now and accept the civil penalties that come. So should all those that truly knew.
But a young girl of 12 can definitely be considered a young lady. I've heard younger girls that were referred to as young ladies. Loretta Lynn got married at 13. In Muslim countries they marry them younger. ONly God knows the whole truth --- not Justin Peters.
I have to say that I think some of this commentary is short-sighted. At least in this video, Brandon did not state HOW he corroborated Cindy's statement that Morris' lawyer blamed her for the abuse. If she has the evidence for that, she needs to produce that. Second, per Cindy's statement, only ONE former elder would have known about her allegations from 2005. She does NOT know that the elder shared the information with any other elders. She and Brandon CANNOT suggest that all or some of the elders KNEW about that just because one elder and one lawyer responded to her. I can totally see the one elder just taking this to Morris in confidence. He, in confidence and allegiance to Morris, may have felt not to share the information. Per Cindy's statement, she simply informed him of the abuse, but did she present any evidence? This is one email coming from one woman. So, are we saying that in 2005, the elder was supposed to just believe her no questions asked? I would have been skeptical myself in 2005. We cannot jump to all kinds of conclusions with these types of allegations. Third, Cindy stated that she BELIEVED that she was not the only victim. She does NOT know that for sure, even though I can understand why she would think that. She should only speak for the abuse she alleges happened. Fourth, Brandon should know that any organization HAS to engage in self-preservation. The Board would be irresponsible to have not retained a lawyer. Getting a lawyer is not tantamount to admitting guilt. And yes, law firms do engage in crisis management. It is irresponsible to blame the church for lawyering up. The church should persist on without Morris, not be destroyed because of his resignation. The Board has an obligation to preserve the church as much as possible. They should and can survive this. They should know all the ramifications of this and how it would affect their church and how to mitigate it. Fifth, it makes total sense that the elders want the firm to investigate the period of 1982-1987 because that is the time frame that the alleged abuse happened. As of the time that I am typing this response, I have not heard of any other victims coming forward. The elders would need to focus on the time period in question first and foremost. Yes, they can open it up for other periods but with nothing else to go, no further accusations, they would just hunting for something that might not even be there. I get it that Brandon is passionate about this. I am as well. But time and life has taught me that we have to be very measured in our responses to stuff. We have to understand how things play out in the real world versus what we think it should be. Furthermore, there are so many other details and questions about the whole thing that need to be answered, like how did her parents respond, what did the counsel and rehabilitation consist of, was Morris truthful when he said that the father also accept the course of action that the elders of the former church took, where are Cindy's parents know to speak about what happened at the time, and so on.
If this is true, did Cindy accept the 25K? Then she agreed to the settlement, according to my opion. Why at this time, using the media for the same occurrance? I am sure Pastor Robert has sought for forgiveness; Jesus has died for his sin too. I really hope this is not a whitch run....satan would certainly be chuffed.
Church leadership, nation-wide, has accepted the lie that people who commit these acts should be put back in ministry. It's very convenient to accept that lie because it protects their "legacy" and their incomes!!! The victims of these horrific acts and the congregations of these leaders are shown just how valuable they really are. All we have to do is to look to the example of our Lord Jesus, his original 12 apostles and the apostle Paul. None of those early leaders heaped up fortunes for themselves or victimized anyone in any way! Instead, they lived pure lives in humility and were willing to die for the message of Christ.
I just wonder how many more PASTORS are going to come forth? The Lord used my pastor mouth 👄 to tell us back in January that this is the YEAR for Exposure and everything that was done in the dark GOD is going bring it to the light 💡. I think we as a church need to pray 🙏🏽 for all PASTORS and LEADERS instead of talking about them PRAY 🙏🏽 for them…
I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring YOU OUGHT to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Paul the apostle to the church leaders, Acts 20:33ff.
This is a great breakdown of the situation. Thank you for sharing the actual letters (facts). I am hopeful that others will come forward, if there are more victim's they can help to protect others. Help others to heal from the events that went on by not burying your head in the sand and saying I did not see it. Please help others who may have been hurt. The victims matter more than the one who victimized them. Even though God forgives the victim's matter.

In reading some of these comments, it appears that some have fallen prey to the sin of “what-about-ism” that has so gripped the body of Christ today. The “I have sinned too…,” which is true, but we’re not dealing with YOUR sin right now, we’re considering Pastor Morris’ failings, in this horrific situation. Let’s consider that there are sins, then there are sins that are literally DETESTABLE (offensive to the mind; abhorrent, obscene, repugnant, repulsive, offensive, unpleasant or disgusting) to God. I believe that Jesus lets us know how He feels about the children/vulnerable, Matt. 19:14 “But Jesus said, Suffer (leave alone, as in hands off) little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” This sin wasn’t a “one off” for this man, it was a pattern of detestable, then hidden, behavior. Sadly, this sin has a far-reaching ripple effect. I pray for the day when those who have been given much, walk worthy of the much required that Jesus speaks of. We can and should walk in forgiveness, sure, but the consequences remain inescapable. 🙏🏽
Dear lady, I feel for you the trauma and pain you and family have gone through. My question is, if you would have gotten the money $ 50,000 you requested, would that have erased the trauma and pain you’ve been through, even if Robert Morris would have been fired? Remember we are all human and we fall, but as children of GOD we had the strength in HIS power to get up again, But the Bible teaches we also have to forgive the wrong doers but to also forgive ourselves. If we haven’t done that jet, no amount of money can change the situation. You lay heavy on my heart dear. 🤔🙏🙏🤗🥰
The fact that he was involved with such a young girl is horrific, and the fact that it went on for years is inexcusable… but consider: 1. Everyone is harping that she was just 12 years old and this all this began Christmas of 1982. Her birthday is in January 1970, meaning that she was less than 30 days from being age 13. Again, it doesn’t take away from the fact that being a 20-year-old and messing with a 13-year-old is unacceptable. 2. This all came to light four years later, which would’ve put her around 16 or 17. Her parents and her chose their route to deal with this. Again back then she/her parents should’ve called the police, but they didn’t, and chose a different route, and it was dealt with. 3. In 2007, she was asking for $50,000 for counseling reimbursement… I’m sure there was a hefty amount of “padding” to that figure, as can’t see counselors in Oklahoma charging those type of rates. Furthermore, the fact that Morris’ attorney refused that amount and offered a poultry $25,000, is just utter stupidity! They should’ve offered her $250,000 for her pain and suffering and had her sign in NDA and move on again. The fact that she didn’t get what she wanted, is the genesis of where we are today. She has been sitting and waiting for the opportunity to bring this onto social media, to exact the most damage. It’s no coincidence She did this now, when Pastor Morris is going to be retiring this year. Her claim that there must be others totally farcical and the ramblings of an attention seeking teen-victim, but an adult manipulator. She could’ve brought this to light at any time over the last 20 years (which would’ve put her in her 30s), but she didn’t and she’s just waiting for an opportunity for attention and revenge…a true narcissist! I can’t fault her too much, as Pastor Morris set this into motion 35 years ago.
They had all the facts. One of the gateway elders was a shady grove elder and was there from day one and actually talked to the girls parents back when it happened.
As someone who left the church over a decade ago with similar issues, I so appreciate you speaking for accountability. You are a unique voice among christians.

@@clinthowardii8948 Very unique indeed.
Cowards.

Well he did leave ministry for 2 years for this sin. Then he was restored and this is biblical. He has not sinned since.
The law since 1971 is that any professional including pastors, teachers, counselors or doctors must report a known crime to the police within 48 hours. This includes Shady Groves in 1987 and Gateway in 2005.
Is this a state law only there?
Boldness for what? Why does it take boldness to proclaim to the entire world someone else's sin? It would be bold to confess our OWN sins -- but easy to point fingers at others' iniquities.
It's considered "legalistic."
People who shade the truth (lie) and have a long history of doing it can be good at it and very convincing.
"Oh what a tangled web we weave
When first we practice to deceive."

Exactly!!!
An interview of a former assistant said at least 1 church elder was aware of the truth.

To the man putting out this video. You’re not off base at all. You’re right on target.

Complete truth must be revealed. his personal worth may include housing or other gifts given to pastors as part of the compensation package.. They vary church to church. Hi forgiveness yes, but accept to scripture he is not acceptable for ministry.
Yes if he was repentant for what he did, not that he got caught. Also God will forgive but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t do a jail term. Look what happened to David when he lied with his best friend’s wife.
NO ONE HAS REPENTED!!!MORRIS HAS LIED ALL ALONG AND SAID SHE WAS A YOUNG LADY! SHE WAS A 12 YO GIRL STILL PLAYING WITH HER DOLLIES!
Nothing says complete transparency quite like 'lawyering up'
The Church needs to settle all the incoming civil claims.
And then shut it down
If There’s no statute of limitations on this, he needs to be charged, prosecuted and imprisoned.
Matthew 18:6.
Was it over a long period of time, like this situation?
😢😢😢
Not a pastor...found a way to feed his appetite through pastoring...Never should have been put back in any position ...jail time,he is a professional in controlling his outcome with his prey!
It does not make all victims into predators. This is unexcusable behavior.
Why didn't this girls father press charges back then? He seems like a coward himself, he should of protected his daughter better than that.
Oh The dad threatened them and demanded they fire him.
Dad probably was a pedophile.
The father should not have been the arbiter of his return to the Pulpit
The Elders failed miserably in their role to protect the flock and must go as well
THE FATHER TRUSTED HIS CHURCH AND PASTOR MORRIS WAS ORDAINED AND BEYOND REPROACH! DO YOU TRUST YOUR PASTOR AND CHURCH?
He said God told him he would be famous. Maybe that was the one time he really heard God, but not sure this was what Morris had in mind. Be careful what you wish for.
❤
AYou who write off and set yourselves up as judges over him - remember, we have access to the same mercy throne room as Robert, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
is there some truth in the only army in the world who nails and shoots its own wounded is the Christian army?
You mean Satan?
Listen to Robert Morris every day multiple times per day. I am very sad and shocked, disappointed and confused.
Me too
Disgusting
Never serve on a jury.
Did you ever read the scriptures: “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” Or JUDGE NOT, LEST YE BE JUDGED….or “Jesus came not for the righteous (like yourselves) but sinners to repentance”
I think about Jesus on the cross-the same people who were shouting hosanna one day were shouting crucify him the next day!
Every body else gose yo prison if you do the crime you need to do the time
Exactly
What really wrong here is the elders let him stay as the head pastor all these years. Do you think that when you are in leadership that you stay silent to sin behind the scenes.. Why are you in leadership if you are not leading.
IT IS CALLED FALSE PROPHECY!
@@cliffsnelgrove3560it has nothing to do with prophecy. It is deception.
The Crown Prince and son of robert morris wants to protect his father and his future position as senior pastor.
He needs to be bounced as well 🤨
The elders never asked him how old the 'young lady ' was??? Pray for the truth to be fully revealed. 🙏
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
THE ELDERS DID NOT ASK HER AGE BECAUSE THEY ALREADY KNEW! THEY KEPT HIM IN THE PULPIT BECAUSE HE COULD BRING IN THE DOLLARS$$$
I bet Tony Evans is breathing a sigh of relief. Look over there not over here 😳
I think there’s a connection. It’s no coincidence that they both were exposed within a few days of each other.
Coincidence here between the two.
His statement said he didn’t break any laws. Makes you wonder about that statement.
Amen to that.
These false teachers are susceptible to all kinds of depravity.
They are the first ones that will be cast into hell with Satan himself.
I pray God's mercy and forgiveness over this whole situation but there has to be some accountability on many ends the elders Robert Morris and that parents why did they allow this to continue what was going on there
You’re absolutely right! Thank you.
He should be arrested, prosecuted and put in jail!
Correct, we know little, just he sinned with a female, be patient and wait for the whole story.
They offered her 25K and an NDA in 2005. They knew.
Thank you! You are SPOT ON!!
Jesus Please take Thy Care of This !😢❤
I totally agree with you.
On Thursday, June 13, the day before the child molestation news broke, Gateway Church posted on Facebook and X the following prayer, “Father, open our eyes to the things we are blind to.”.
They all need to be in jail. Morris thinks just give it a couple of years and thinks he'll be back just like the last time.noooooo not this time. IMPORTANT SCRIPTURE THEY FORGOT ABOUT " YOUR SIN WILL FIND YOU OUT"
AND YOU" REAP WHAT YOU SOW"
Amen
oh dear God have mercy on us SINNERS. what's going on today in this world. All the devils are being exposed. Jesus is coming soon, Repent and confess your sins you Hypocrites, wolves dressed in sheep's clothing, telling people how to live their lives while they themselves are the worst of sinners. One of my favorite pastors, R.Morris, oh God have mercy on him and bless his family, wife and children. Forgive me Father God for you alone know our thoughts and sins and you alone are the Judge of the whole world. Help us to be faithful and focuse our attention on you alone. In Jesus name, AMEN.
6/20/24😢 This is old news. Why are they just letting him go!😢😢😢they cover for him. They all need to go! He betrayed the family and destroyed the child. It's happening lots of places where they protect the predator and forget the victim😢!
Agree and amen!
You are sick in the head
The fact that he was involved with such a young girl is horrific, and the fact that it went on for years is inexcusable… but consider:
