I was a Kindergarten assistant for two years. I love this age. As hard and difficult as it can be at times, and as PATIENT as you have to be dealing with them, I really love this grade
Lower grade teachers teach so many of the “ropes” of school. They set the tone for school careers so you don’t want it to be a negative experience. If they don’t do their job, it affects the whole school career!
A good teacher will positively impact the child. A negative teacher will impact the child. Ur going to shape that child for them to either love school or hate school! We have had sh*tty teachers and outstanding teachers!! I always see the difference in my kid’s immediately! I have had my kids switch teachers when the one teacher was not a good fit for my daughter. No shame in my game!
I am 34, and when our kindergarten teacher retired, there was a massive celebration with all the kids who could make it. Mrs. Eagan, you are the real mvp!
I homeschooled, and I remember my five-year-old counting "... ten, oneteen, twoteen, threeteen, fourteen, fiveteen." She refused to say the correct names, but I understood her logic. She was stubborn, though. Another incident went like this: "A truck was driving, and four of 10 boxes fell off the back. How many boxes were left?" My daughter: "Why didn't they stop and pick up the boxes, Mommy?" Lol She is now a fourteen-year-old aspiring research scientist or engineer. I homeschooled four, so I know what you're talking about. Those days were challenging but wonderful. I used a Montessori curriculum, which simplified concepts for all of us.
Awww! I’m so looking forward to doing this, as a teacher I want to be the one experiencing this with my soon to be pre-schoolers. Now that you mention it, I’m going to look into the Montessori curriculum.
30 kinders for the full day! I don't need a special place in Heaven; lately I just want a place in Heaven sooner than later. I'm struggling this year with zero support, but videos like this make my teacher heart happy. Thank you!
Oh, no thank you. Why are Kindergarteners in diapers??? Especially when the world was not fully functional in 2020 and 2021. The least the parents could have done is potty train them.
@@girlgonetalk2u321 a lot of them are ese children and have disabilities. The problem is there are not enough supports in schools to help with these children and the burden is put solely on the teacher.
Thats part of the problem, 30 kids is WAY too many for any classroom. There should be no more than 15 students per class for a class to function properly. Im sorry you have to deal with that!!
Hi 👋😊 I don't know if you'll see this. ❤️ Love your videos. When my oldest was in kindergarten, doing homework dealing with patterns, she was so stuck. But I turned the paper over and started with crayons - I made a new pattern with crayons, not even drawing shapes. It was like the light bulb 💡 turned on in her head. She GOT it‼️ she took over and did that whole worksheet with no more help from me!!!!!! It sounded kinda like you were talking about patterns, but I don't know. 👍😜 Try adding some color! I also told her kindergarten teacher that we were not doing more than 2 worksheets a night for homework. Period. They spend so much time at school and then they want them to do homework for hours. No. They need playtime and family time. Thank you for all you do!!!! Thank you to all the teachers!!!!! 😘❤️❤️
I’m a retired high school English teacher. I had my issues with older kids and their back talk, but I would rather face a whole room full of venomous snakes than try to teach preschool or kindergarten. That’s truly frightening!!
I taught kindergarten for 30 years. I loved it! It was hard, but I loved teaching them all to be students and develop independence. You are my hero for teaching middle school! We all have our place. Now, I teach those who want to be teachers at the university! It's almost like kindergarten all over again! 😂
I taught kgn for 18 years in a large urban district. I often wish I had written down all of those stories that the children told me-probably would have been a best seller! I also bought a classroom supply of those thick “kindergarten “ pencils at the beginning of the school year, so I had no fights over who got which fancy pencil. Because I taught in the same school for 27+ years, near the end of my career, I even had children of students who had been in my early classes. That was fun. On the first day of school, a sweet young man was brought to the classroom by his mom,. But when dismissal time came, I immediately recognized the young adult dad who came to pick him up. The boy’s dad ran into the room to hug me saying “I knew it was you! I knew it was you!” He told his son that when he was a little boy and came to kindergarten, that I had been his teacher.
This is my 21st year in education, 18th in Kindergarten. Thank you for acknowledging what we do! 😂❤❤ Some of my best/most interesting conversations have been with Kindergartners!😂😂
Dear Honest Teacher, Thank you so much for making this old grandma laugh. When I converse with family regarding school and children, I can’t help but call teachers angels. I sat down with my 7 year old granddaughter, because she asked for help with her homework, I thought, piece of cake it’s only 8 problems, an hour and a half later, I had to go straight to bed and had to take some headache medicine!! I have nothing but respect for all school teachers and I appreciate their hard work.
No one really thinks about it, but pre-k or kindergarten teachers are the ones that teach the kiddos how to walk in line and experience their first fire drill. Now THAT’S a triumph! I retired after 27 years where I spent most of them in kindergarten. I LOVE kindergarten because that’s when you see true wonder and awe in their faces! ❤
I love looking at the pre-k and kinder kids walking by. They look so cute but being in a classroom with them!!! Absolutely not! Preschool and kinder teachers!! Ya'll are the real MVPs. Give me the 4th grade attitudes all day 😂😂
Kindergarten was, by far, my favorite age to teach!!! I adored my Kinders! ❤ Thanks for the shout out! Let's be real, we were all gifted to teach different ages...I'd never teach 6th graders. Kudos to your hard work as well!
A couple of years ago, I was a teacher's assistant in the kindergarten classroom. While it is a multi-faceted job that needs to be handled while trying to herd kittens, I absolutely loved it. The Kindergarten teachers are such a blessing. I would say, however, middle school and high school teachers are also very much a blessing....those young people are an energetic bunch to say the least!!!
I'm a foreign language teacher to Kindergartners in east Asia, and our curriculum is insanely advanced, incorporating everything from English, language composition, phonics, art, behavioral/ethics classes, math, science, and cultural studies (all taught in English, of course). Keeping this kids on track is a daily miracle that alone is proof of a divine being. Thankfully, I only get them for 4 hours in the morning and then go to 1-4th grade the rest of the day xD but still, it's a whirlwind dealing with 12 kids of mixed levels in the same class, especially in a country that doesn't really recognize the importance of spec ed.
Last Christmas I laughed out loud when my family told me they think I’d be a good kinder teacher. I told them I’d probably rather be unemployed. I got my student teaching placement at the end of summer and of course it was in kinder. Just started my student teaching and I’ve realized I’m now gonna have to apologize to those family members for laughing because I love it. Never a dull moment. The fact that they have no filter and love giving hugs means something they do/say usually outweighs the struggles.
I was a Para with kindergarten for years. They are a whole other breed. It takes kinders that entire year to learn how to be in school and have a routine. They are so literal at that age, it can be hilarious yet frustrating. Don't even get me started on how rigorous kindergarten is these days. 😕
I taught Kindergarten for 12 years and then I had my own kids. Oh my! I am now a para professional for 2nd grade. Going no lower than that. I look at the K kids and their teachers. I bow down. I don't have energy for that now. I was young when I taught K.
Girl...best friend...I feel you 100%! My son is in Kindergarten and that homework be having me stressed out. His teacher is absolutely amazing. All teachers are amazing (well the good ones lol). I don't know how they or you do it. I can't imagine him as a 6th grader and wonder if he is going to say and do what you say your 6th graders do...like why you do that??? Love you girl. Your daughter is just precious!
lol I am a high school teacher who works at a PK-12 school and feel the exact same. My admiration really kicks in seeing how they handle how often them kids cry over stuff. (And what they’re crying over tbh) Because when I tell you I. Could. Never. Whew!
I taught prekindergarten (4yo) for two years. I loved it. A friend came in to observe (he was thinking about becoming an early childhood teacher). He stayed one day to see what it was like. He couldn’t believe how quickly I changed gears and all the tricks I had to have up my sleeves even though I had an incredible aide who had been in the prek and kinder classroom for 35 years and could have taught them herself. I found it extremely rewarding to see the children go from knowing nothing school wise (90% came with no previous school knowledge) to beginning readers who could do simple multiplication, speak in complete sentences, and write simple sentences. I only switched to high school special education because I moved to LA and there were no openings for elementary school.
Thank you for shot out. We need parents like you who understand that we just don’t have your children but 15-20 other kids. Each and every day it’s like herding cow.
I thank all the teachers. You all are amazing people. You all have my respect, my admiration. I struggle with my daughter every day with her writing and her spelling.
I am a long term sub it doesn’t matter if your a sub, a para, a daycare provider we are all teachers and the struggle with this upcoming generation is real…❤ because love wins at all costs it’s worth it. … I may not be a real teacher or so it feels some days
I taught kindergarten for most of my teaching career. It was my absolutely favorite grade! Yes, frustrating at times, ut overall a joy to see the lightbulb come on for these little ones!
I’m a kindergarten teacher… THANK YOU so much for the love!! We may make it look easy, but until you’re a parent who visits or even substitutes, you just don’t know. But I ABSOLUTELY LOVE what I do! It definitely has to be your gift!❤
I subbed for my daughter's kindergarten Sunday school class at our church ONE TIME. I handed out some scissors for them to cut a project and two or three of them started crying because they didn't get their favorite color. I said never again.
Kindergarten teachers are awesome! My oldest son’s kindergarten teacher recognized a speech disorder in my younger son, and told me to get speech therapy for him before he started school. It saved us years of heartache and trouble. By the time my youngest son started school he had the vocabulary of a fourth grader. Bless her!
LMBO!!! You are so honest and refreshing!! I give props to ALL teachers!! My little man has a wonderful kindergarten teacher this year!! I have been blessed our 1st school year!!! ❤
I homeschooled my first two children and my 3rd child started kindergarten at school. His teacher was an absolute saint❤ God rest her soul. Donna Moore from Alabaster Alabama I know you have so many crowns in Heaven on your head your probably can’t hold your head up !!
My son's kindergarten teacher was the BEST! I know he can be hard to handle, but she was the absolute best teacher for him, and I'm so glad he got to experience how good public school could be for at least 1 year.... can't say that after kindergarten, but at least his first public school experience was excellent!
Thank you so much so the acknowledgment, oh yes its challenging sometimes you feel like you're in a real war zone 😂😂but i love them so much, wish you was one of my parents. how can you not love those kids . baby girl is so pretty.
I always make sure to add a destination and task. Jimmy had two turtles at home. One went to the store for oatmeal. How many turtles are at home? Then after a lengthy discussion about why the other turtle didn’t get to go shopping, too, we answer the problem. 😜
I agree that the teachers are heroes but it breaks my heart that these little ones are having these expectations placed on them. They need things like stories about turtles as your child proved. They are figuring out how the world works. Math and reading are often beyond what their brains are ready to learn. The teachers are stuck having to force this on them which is heartbreaking.
My son was in kindergarten during the start of the pandemic and I can relate so much to this!!! I struggled so hard trying to get him how to sound out simple 3 letter words lol I was losing my mind!!! I smiled so hard watching this!
Lol. I teach letters to 3yr old. I understand the pain. I have people tell me they have never seen someone like me with the patience of Job. I just keep everything no stress in my room. And come home and freak if someone drank my cokes.
I was a Kindergarten teacher for many years. I LOVED it! It’s for sure not for everybody but if you can make little children love school and learning, you make school easier from then on for children.
Haha i work with 35 3-4 years and just yesterday i had tell a boy to get a giraffes leg out his mouth, tell a girl to stop eating sand, tell another a child to put his pants back on because he thought dressing up meant he had to take all his clothes off, say for the 100th time bells are ringing so its time to tidy up, do a parents evening on tuesday that went on till 7pm and i had been there that morning at 7am...... Annnndd its only thursday now two more days to go till weekend 😅😅😅. I love my job, i do but sometimes i think how is this my life ? 😅😅 Also thank you for this video as an early years teacher assistant (UK) i do feel like we get forgotten about because we dont really focus on grades and i think a lot of people still think we just sit around all day and play with kids 😅 no we dont ! Lol xx
I wonder if it's really a good thing that kindergarten is such a high-pressure experience now. I remember kindergarten (granted it was 100 years ago) as being just play time, craft time, and coloring. We didn't write letters or do math. 🤔 But, I agree-- bless all the k teachers bc I sure couldn't do it! 😂
I’m a teacher’s assistant. This year I got assigned to 1st and Kindergarten. Every day I pray first in thanks for the awesome teachers I work with, and then for myself & the students because…. Bless their little hearts.
When my son graduated from high school I had him send a graduation announcement AND a thank you to his Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First grade teachers. I wanted them to see the end result of what they started. And I happily gave time and money on whatever those teachers (and ALL his teachers) needed. Because I was NOT homeschooling him! Ya'll are my heroes!
I'm teaching Kindergarten for the first time ever and I have taught for 33 years. I totally understand what you sayin. my voice sounds like yours on a daily basis. As far as middle school goes, I don't do hormones and attitudes.
I have so much love and respect for all dedicated and great educators. I have many in my immediate family and it is a calling. I, however, could not do what you all do! I have always been thrilled to be the mother of 3 and I am so grateful that we made it to the other side! There is no way that we could have done any of this without all of the amazing educators that were instrumental in their success. 2 have graduated from college and the last one will be done in May of 2024. The only thing I can take credit for is teaching them how to read and write before kindergarten and ensuring that they had all of the resources they needed, when the needed them. When the last child was doing algebra in first or second grade I knew I'd run my full course! Thank you for all that you do!
I taught kindergarten and I was teaching math one day, and I was teaching subtraction….I posed the problem I made 10 cookies and my husband ate 8 of them….my class said “Mrs. Ashby that’s not fair…he should share with you….the struggle is real….we’re not talking about sharing….😂😂😮😮
Love you!!!! Teachers rock!!!!! Your story about the turtles and doing math speaks to me so much. I have always tried to be an involved parent and get my children ready for when they started school. Your kindergartener might be gifted, because gifty kids are the most easily distracted kids. I have three kids but I have one that is super gifted and omg she has been the hardest.
I don't know how you keep sane working with your 6th graders! No thank you!😮 I looooove the rudimentary thought! Everything is so new and fresh in Early Childhood.
I love teaching kindergarten, and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else! My middle school teacher friends think I’ve lost my mind. But I couldn’t do their job for one day. Isn’t it wonderful that God gives different gifts to each of us, so that there are teachers who love every age and stage? God bless you and make you a blessing to the kids you teach!
I taught k one time. And worked with preschool and other ages surrounding that, so yes, it really takes a lot more than you might think to do with the constant onslaught of questions. Randomly. Throughout the day. At inconvenient times 😂 it really was a blessing. So glad we have our early Ed teams!
I cried when trying to help my 4th grade granddaughter with math. I also reFUSED to be an elementary counselor. They are golden and nuts. I could handle middle school and high school students.
I taught kindergarten one year and thank you, that was enough. I loved all 36 of my kiddos, but was so happy I graduated to 1st grade with them. There's a huge difference in that one very important year. Thank you to all those who stick with kindergarten for more than a year.
I didn’t go to kindergarten. Our school district didn’t have kindergarten. We started in 1st. grade. No matter, we all need to learn the same thing. Many of us have had very successful lives. Just the same, some people just don’t know how to listen, do as they are told, write your name on your paper. Giggle! 💙
I've taught all the grades prek-12. Did 25 years in kindergarten and loved it. You really sleep well. Interestingly, it was really hard to find subs. Some said they were so needy, some said they gave them a headache, some said they just tell you everything, and some said they never stop talking. I always found them to be fearless learners and very loving.
THANK YOU SIS!!! THANK YOU!!!! I have 24 SuperKinders rn andddddd let me tell you, every little achievement is a hugeeee W in our classroom. Try and teach 24 kinders how to use a computer....lawdddddd....listen bless you ....bless us all EDUCATORS cause its a struggleee. By mid day we all need serious naps 😂😂😂
Kudos to Kindergarten teachers. Back in the day, they had aides, but thanks to public education’s crappy funding, they’ve decided that Kindergarten teachers don’t need aides anymore. So kudos to them for being towers of strength. From parent to parent, this is why we use food in word problems. The kids don’t care if food is eaten or given away.
Sis! You have me weak. I had stopped watching videos for a while because I had a year from HELL, but I finished it out for the students. I believed in them and they didn't fail themselves. That was my best class, but one bad co teacher and her minions that included admin. yeah that was HELL!
I've homeschooled two kindergarteners and the struggle is real. Each were very different. My daughter dragged her feet ( she still does even though she is in first grade). My youngest son has a late December birthday and was advanced. We started doing first grade work in February when I discovered that he already knew how to read. Now he is in first grade and still acts bored.
My youngest is in kindergarten. He didn't want to go to school today. His behavoirs have already barely a month in forced them to call me to come get him more than once, so he did not go today. He had 2 years preschool, this isn't new to him. IDK how they deal with him, he can't speak clearly and is in speech therapy. He has serious issues with not wanting to do what he's told. God bless his teacher, I could't home school this kid.
Kindergarten and preschool. Thank you for recognizing us. I had a hard day with my kids and needed this.
Thank you! I couldn’t handle the smart mouthed preteens! Bless you too! ❤
This is year 19 teaching kindergarten. There is never a dull moment! It's truly a calling.
I’m in year 16 of teaching and my 4th in kindergarten. It definitely has to be a calling!❤ I love it though!
30th year......5th in Kdg........ 22 in First.....2 and half in PreK
Yes it is!
I was a Kindergarten assistant for two years. I love this age. As hard and difficult as it can be at times, and as PATIENT as you have to be dealing with them, I really love this grade
There is a special place in Heaven for all good teachers and concerned staff ❤.
Absolutely, I am a long term substitute ❤ ❤❤ it takes us all
There should be hazardous duty pay for anyone who subs on a Friday especially if it’s before a holiday. 😅

100% I was a kindergarten SPED teacher.
As a mother of a kindergartener I feel this so much!!!!

Congrats to you....me I have 28 years in preschool. God bless us all educators. It takes a lot of patience and love. ❤
Big ups to the PreK-2 teachers setting the foundation for the rest of us to be able to do what we do more efficiently. Thank you!

Yes! Hands on is successful!

This was my problem with math: the word problems were so distracting.
Stop giving Timmy turtles, adults in his life! :D
There is a special place in heaven for teachers of hormonal humans.😊
Kindergarteners are TERRIFYINNG. Hats off to those of you who teach smalls!
I'm not gonna lie when you said he had 2 turtles and 1 left I was thinking the same thing about why is his turtle leaving and where is he going 🤔 😂😂
I always make sure to add a destination and task.
Jimmy had two turtles at home. One went to the store for oatmeal. How many turtles are at home?
Then after a lengthy discussion about why the other turtle didn’t get to go shopping, too, we answer the problem. 😜
@@dorismidge8762😅😅 good one and I'm so very happy that my children are grown now but I did homeschool a couple of my grandchildren
👏👏👏👏👏. Props to kindergarten teachers! 🍾🥂
I teach HS and I'd have a nervous breakdown if I had to teach kinder. 😅
I was a preschool teacher to 6, 1 year olds every day. I had 6, 1 year olds every day, by myself & I loved those babies with all my heart. Still do. ❤
Also thank you for this video as an early years teacher assistant (UK) i do feel like we get forgotten about because we dont really focus on grades and i think a lot of people still think we just sit around all day and play with kids 😅 no we dont ! Lol xx
Kindergarten teachers are angel because as a high school teacher I do not know how they do it.
We did math! We had to learn to count!!
Just gotta say, I love your videos 😂. So real. So honest. Don't know how teachers do it. ❤
I homeschooled K-2 for one and have a 5 yo who asks why to everything. Early childhood teachers are definitely angels among us. ❤
Not a teacher. Not a parent. And this still made my day. 😂 Thank you for fixing my mood today. 🙏
I’m a teacher’s assistant. This year I got assigned to 1st and Kindergarten. Every day I pray first in thanks for the awesome teachers I work with, and then for myself & the students because…. Bless their little hearts.
Teaching 5 year olds is exactly like herding cats… why I teach 6th graders 😂😂
Shout out to all the reception teachers out there 🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
When my son graduated from high school I had him send a graduation announcement AND a thank you to his Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First grade teachers.
Thank you for this!! I have taught kindergarten for 17 years.I feel like the higher ups don't get it but you do! ❤
There wasn’t kindergarten when I went to school today there is Pre-K and that is some good learning
I’m a preschool teacher. All I have to say is GOD BLESS YOU!
Taught kindergarten for 29 years. Thank you for understanding the struggle.
I don't know how you keep sane working with your 6th graders!
No thank you!😮
I looooove the rudimentary thought!
Worked SPED kinder for a few years and now homeschooling my own kindergartener and it is all so very true 😅😂
I am glad you returned to the classroom! I pray you are well!
I taught kindergarten one year and thank you, that was enough. I loved all 36 of my kiddos, but was so happy I graduated to 1st grade with them. There's a huge difference in that one very important year. Thank you to all those who stick with kindergarten for more than a year.
Your daughter's cameo appearance was very cute. 😅
I didn’t go to kindergarten. Our school district didn’t have kindergarten. We started in 1st. grade. No matter, we all need to learn the same thing. Many of us have had very successful lives. Just the same, some people just don’t know how to listen, do as they are told, write your name on your paper. Giggle! 💙
Really I've never heard of that before did they have pre-school and what state is this if you don't mind me asking 🤔
@@aprilshorty4094 I don’t mind in the least. I attended Salina School, in Cranberry, PA., not Pittsburgh. Started school in 1964. 💙
@@hollyjobitner3285 ok I can see that back then because I only went for a half a day back in 1972 in NJ
@@aprilshorty4094 my husband starting school in 1956, central PA did go to kindergarten. I suppose it just depended on the school district. 💙
Agree! Kindergarten teachers are a special breed- I could not do it!
I forgot to add these to my previous comments: 😂😂😂😂
As the mom of a first grader, I saw that turtle answer coming from a mile away. That is exactly how they think and how easily they get distracted.
This PreK teacher appreciates the love!
Unifix cubes or Cuisenaire blocks help a lot with math. I used Montessori beads, and all four of my kids attend Kumon now.
So glad I found this channel again! It is the best!
I had the best teacher in K. A male teacher over 30yrs ago. Love u Mr Palmi.
I’ve worked with tk and kinders at different points when I’ve worked in the y, and that shit isn’t a joke. Frustration kills me.
You're telling the truth. I taught middle school and high school. And I am Happily Retired❤😂
My son's (he's now 28) Kindergarten teacher was/ is the BEST!!! We're still friends on FB!
Your daughter is so beautiful!!! Yay for teachers!!!! 🎊🥰🎶🦋
I have been an early childhood educator for over 30 years.I still love it.😂
My youngest is in kindergarten.
