WASHED OUT.. WET.. WORTH IT?? - Living in a van in IRELAND.
After our frantic ferry crossing from the UK to Ireland we were looking forward to easing ourselves into exploring the magical Emerald Isle. However, this is Ireland in autumn and the weather had other ideas, giving us a very wet Irish welcome.
We spent a few days in the beautiful Wicklow, on Irelands east coast, just south of Dublin. Well, they say it's beautiful, we struggled to see it half the time but, check out what we did find, and how we are getting on living in van and wild camping across Ireland.
On this trip we are hoping for cinematic landscapes, wild adventures, friendly locals and Irish wildlife, even in the rain we believe we can find it all!

I love the "without speaking for two hours" type situations. Not because I like it that you're not talking to each other but because it's then followed by you having a lovely, cosy evening - good to see a real relationship dynamic.

I can honestly say that you four , have made my day today ... I run a small cat rescue, but I'm also disabled , both physical and mental health . I've had severe depression over the past 3 months and hadn't been following the new vids. You came up on my UA-cam today and I thought " omg I love these guys !!" I've caught up with a few vlogs this afternoon and you've really helped to lift me up nearly out of this episode ( of depression) I've caught up on a lot of jobs and done them with relish whilst watching you all and laughing so much . Ty for your honest and beautiful way of filming and living . We have a small caravan and hhope to live in it one day ( with all 14 cats 😉) .

Running a rescue is such a worthy cause, all the cats will love you out of your depression. Be strong for yourself and all your furry family
I rescue cats but not on a large scale. I have always had rescues as there are so many darling fur babies that need our help. At the moment I only have 3 as well as feeding a feral cat who is old and definitely has arthritis, bless him. Tried trapping but extremely waree of traps. I wish you well on your journey lovely. Everdently watching comedy shows/ films are very good at lifting our moods. Do you take vitamin D3 and K2 as vit D3 is what's known as the sunshine vitamin. Thank you for helping all those amazing beautiful little souls. You are absolutely amazing beautiful with a huge heart 🙏🥰🤗

Hi Girls, you two came out on my screen today and what a delight it was too ! I am from France. I lived in London 50years and Ireland two. I lived in South Dublin, and loved the place where I was living, also I adored Ireland. Wicklow was my first discovery of the Island, I loved it, especially Blessington Lake, Ballyknokan, Glenmalure, Avoca, Glendalough, Guiness lake, The Sally Gap. I did a few day trips from Monkstown a few times. I then travelled all over Ireland and like yourselves never stopped saying how gorgeous it was at every turn in the road. I went everywhere, but Donegal stole my heart. I can't wait now to see and hear the rest of your adventures and get melancholic looking at places that you stop at that I have been to. See you & take care.
I keep saying this, but the cinematography is exquisite. I could watch these films without the sound, they're that good. Also Louise has the freshest sneakers.

My wife and I agree that you two have the most beautiful souls on UA-cam and the two of you are so funny!! You always make us laugh!! And we also agree the both of you compliment each other so well!! Thank you for sharing this with the UA-cam world. As for that rain, the sound of the rain hitting the roof would definitely put my wife and I to sleep. Sometimes when it's storming out we set up a mattress in our van and just lay there and snooze the night away.

Lovely to see Wicklow. I moved over to Ireland 20 years back from England, and love the place. Great to walk down the murrough in Wicklow Town after a day at work, great way to blow all your cares away. Also makes me realise just everything i`ve not seen. Well you know what they say, there is 4 seasons in every day in Ireland. ooohhh and try the fruit soda bread its to die for!!
Think an App 'Launderette near me' to dry those wet clothes, would be a good idea. LOL
Stunning film work 😉 as usual. When you return to Wicklow try to get to Glendalough it’s truly beautiful with mountains lakes and an early Christian monastery. We did a B&B tour of Ireland 40 years ago, managed to get a puncture on a mountain road in the pouring rain (what the Irish call a ‘soft’ day). We were helped by a local man who took us to his friends garage (on a Sunday) where the tyre was replaced. So not only is the scenery beautiful but the people are too. 💕

I moved here from Sussex over 20 years ago. I done my Van conversion during Covid too. You are going to love the west coast! We've been all over Ireland and so much of it is "stunning". Worst year ever for Sun tho.

I ❤ rain. I love the sound it makes on an umbrella or roof, I love the freshness of the air, I love the way it makes the greenery greener. I love sitting and reading as it patters on a tent or umbrella while I relax and read knowing there isn’t something more productive I could be doing. Embrace the rain it is essential for life.
Lovely stuff as usual. Does anyone remember the tv series Ballykissangel? Was filmed around the Wicklow mountains and in particular the village of Avoca. I remember thinking how beautiful the countryside was. I'm sure it'll be a great trip.

l want so want to do this again !!! l drove around Ireland in 2016 . in the North and the south !! It was really good ,l enjoyed it so much . Go where l wanted ,sleep where l wanted !! Ireland was so beautiful ! l had a high roofed Ford Transit van !

Went to Ireland in 2013 , first day there i went to a chippy , first time i had proper fish and chips in 13 years (lived in the middle east at the time ) it was a proper religiuos expnce , the lady who served me asked if i was ok , when i told her how long it had ben since i last ate fish n chips , she thought i'd been in prison she asked me what i'd done ;)

What a lovely area Wicklow is, I might be a little biased my late girlfriend (victim of cancer) had a very nice bungalow a couple of miles up the road from Avoca in county Wicklow, It was at a place called The Meetings, there are two rivers that meet there hence the name. There’s just the pub, a few houses and a bend in the road with a road junction. Avoca was the location where the TV series Ballykissangle with Stephen Tompkinson and Dervla Kirwan, was filmed. Loads of beautiful places to visit in Ireland, enjoy yourselves.

If you get to Galway theres a little town on the coast, i think its called Salthill, they have a huge metal diving tower on the beach. They use it come wind, storms and snow ! So yes, youre spot on about cold water swimming ! 🥶

If you want easy seal spotting, call in at Portavogie, just south of Bangor. The seals swim in the harbour because they know that they will get stuff thrown from the fishing boats.
The chip shop is just over the road from the harbour so their fish is as fresh as can be.

The farmer's probably suffered from people with dogs on leads but the dog suddenly taking off & even just a badly timed bark can cause havoc with frightened sheep. Being a very long term vegan I hate seeing sheep being farmed at all but can understand his concern.

AJ I think needs doggie arthritis drops/tablets or CBD oil. I know from watching, what AJ has been through.I do it for my old blind gal Border Collie and it helps a lot and when bad ie cold and rain, I put braces on her back hock and really helps their carpals. We moved from Brighton UK to Saudi and she has heat 365 days a year and it only rains max 4 hours once a year. Heat removes older dog joint issues.

So now we know where tropical storms go when they are done with Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Great soup for you. A broccoli, green pea soup:
400 g broccoli (crown and stem)
15 cm leek
2 bits of garlic
3 potatoes
1 carrot
2 decilitres green peas
Butter/oil
8 dl water
Salt, pepper and some lemon juice.
8 dl hot water
2 cube veggie stock
1 dl creme fraiche
Chop all veggies up. Fry all veggies up for 5 min in Oil and
butter then add water and veggie stock and boul softly for 15 mins. Mix it with a stand mixer, add creme fraiche and spices and lemon (some chili and fresh ginger if you want)
Bring to a boil and serve. :) thank me later 😊

Emily, your first soup looked lovely and is one of my favourites. You will get a lot of soup practice in ireland. I love irish autumn, but I don't go on long hikes and make sure shelter is close.(I.e. the cottage) Warm and cudlley are irish cottages.
