  • On today's podcast, Ashley Thompson and Dan Novak host the show while Ashley tells listeners what they are going to hear.
First, Anna Matteo reports on a vaccine for a dangerous disease spread by an insect. The World Health Organization recently authorized a second dengue vaccine. The move could protect millions of people worldwide against the mosquito-borne disease. The first vaccine to become available for dengue was found to increase the possibility of infection for some people.
Then, Greg Stachel reports on an increase in interest in Buddhism in South Korea. Religious beliefs in South Korea have been decreasing for years. But social media is fueling an increased interest in Buddhism among young people. A performer has gained attention playing a Buddhist religious worker, or monk. Others are using social media to popularize Buddhist subjects.
After that, Bryan Lynn has the science report. This week, Bryan reports on powerful activity from the sun. Earth was recently hit by the most powerful solar storm in more than 20 years. The storm caused some colorful light shows in some parts of the world, but no widespread damage. The storms are caused by huge releases of magnetic field energy and particles from a form of matter called plasma. The U.S. weather agency NOAA follows solar weather that can affect the Earth as well.
Then, Ashley and Bryan discuss how the powerful solar storm appears to not have caused major damage.
Finally, on Lesson of the Day, Andrew Smith and Jill Robbins discuss ways to express probability. They use some examples from a Let's Learn English episode in which Anna acts as a fortune teller.
Then Ashley and Dan sign off.

    Hello voa news .
I hope this message finds you well.
Thank you for the vocabulary episodes. I have a question: could you please provide me with a PDF file or any links/sources where I can learn vocabulary? I will soon take the IELTS and SAT exams, so I would be very grateful for this information. Also, I make grammatical mistakes while speaking and writing in English. How can I improve? Please give me your valuable advice.
    Thank you!
