JOURNEY INTO THE OUTBACK | SOLO SIMPSON DESERT ADVENTURE
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 вер 2022
- The start of my biggest adventure yet. Travelling from the Gold Coast, all the way to the west side of the Simpson Desert to attempt a solo crossing and then back again. In this first part I make the journey from Innamincka to Arkaroola Village.

It’s always a good day with a bag of Allen’s 👍 great video
Absolute middle of nowhere. It’s funny it doesn’t matter what the bike 400kms seems to be the best any can get.
Glad it was uneventful. The sense of isolation came through. I liked the opening sequence
I've been anxiously waiting for these videos. Thanks 👍
What an adventure mate, and no doubt the best yet to come!
Great vid mate, cant wait to see the rest of the trip!!
So good! Cheers for sharing mate
Awesome mate...Look forward to more episodes 👍
Awesome video as always! Thanks Josh!
Your not alone Josh.. you have us ..
Great adventure mate. Look forward to following along.
Good one. Keep up the good work.👍
Nice production Josh, very enjoyable. I like the spot for your instinct solar. Great idea to keep it charged on the track.
Awesome watch, thanks for sharing 🙏
Great video mate 👍 back 3 weeks from my solo unsupported crossing of the Simpson on the mighty DRZ400 the solitude takes a bit of getting use to. Great to set your own pace.
Bloody rippa Josh 👍🍻🍻
Just in time for fathers day. Cheers.
I love that name: Mt. Hopeless road.
Well done, I bet that shower was brilliant. Hope dinner is worth the wait. Stay safe, cheers.
Great vid mate. I ride solo quite often myself and I find it quite relaxing. I use a Spot GPS tracker just in case anything goes wrong. Works without phone coverage and has a button on it that allows you to call up medivac etc if anything really dramatic goes wrong. Ah just saw the Garmin!
Awesome Bud , Hope your washing the dust down properly
From Coral Springs FL USA .❤️🌹
Mint! Keen to see the next part 👌🏼
Thanks boss 👍🏼
Nice one mate, looking to do a similar trip myself
Mate that was awesome and it's only the first episode!! Bloody good work indeed, looking forward to much more!
Thanks mate 👍🏼
Great stuff Josh. Thanks for taking the time to drop into land marks and lookouts. Interesting to see the full range of the tank. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks 🙏🏼
That was awesomeness. Looking forward to more episodes. Cheers mate!

👍👍👏
Aus...2 days to hit the dirt roads...Scotland,cross a 1 lane road!😂
Well done Josh, ✔️
Amazing pleces to see,one day I really would love to go on my dr 650...
I want to know what GPS navigation you have, (brand and model)it looks very good as I have to buy one for my self...?
Cheers..
I use a Garmin zumo XT 👍🏼
Great video. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip. Tell me about you video set up and the audio set up. Its pretty good and clear at 100km. Ken
Thanks mate
GoPro hero 10. Filming 2.7K
GoPro mic adapter with a purple panda mic setup.
Interesting fuel consumption. 5Lt/100kms. Thats the same as I get on my DR650 on gravel roads. I guess the 400 is more highly stressed, but a lighter bike for the rougher stuff.
What an adventure. Is the Garmin the way to go in Australia? Does it have all the unsealed roads/tracks on it? Google maps no good?
I got the Garmin because I don’t want to use my phone as a gps. I need it for my drone and want it to grab a quick photo or video as well. It’s been great and I love it, sometimes it might not show a track here and there but 99% of the time it’s been solid.
I met you on a ride on the gc, well done massive effort
Thanks mate, just went for a ride today on the GC actually 🤙🏼
Nice👍
Shoulda gone the 28lt Safari tank...
Not really needed 99% of the time but on this trip it could of came in handy for sure
Awesome vid dude! Was just wondeirng which navman you had on your bike?
Looking forward to the next vid!
It’s a Garmin Zumo XT
I use it on both my bikes 👍🏼
Cool stuff mate. I bet that long straight road sucked lol
I was just happy to be on the dirt. Plenty of tar straight roads I had already done 😂
409km is pretty good for outback riding on the safari tank. You may have eked another 20 or 30km by tipping the bike over on the fuel tap side and using the fuel from the RHS of the tank.
Yea that’s always an option if things are desperate!
Thanks for the video. Excellent insight. Wanting to do a similar ride. Can you fill me in with what gear you took? Looking like fairly light amount of gear. Cheers.
Thanks mate
Check out my other videos. I uploaded a couple before I left for the trip. How I set the bike up and what I packed 👍🏼
Got a wrap up video coming shortly as well with a bit more of an insight into the trip itself
Great video's. where time of year did you go. Seems to be good weather!!
I did it at the start of August 👍🏻
Thanks, very inspiring and such a nice, humble person. I'm glad you pushed through your tube problems and gave us all your real experience!!!👍😊👍👍👍
Nice work mate. Enjoyed the vid. Curious to know what sprocket combo you went with
15 front
44 rear
Changed before this trip 👍🏼
Awesome vid mate, can't wait for the next one. What gearing you running for that range?
15 front 44 rear 👍🏼
Come on Josh, where’s the next episode. 😁
4pm mate 🤣
@@_JoshJB_ thanks, looking forward to it 👍
Any reason you didn’t take the T7? Was it mainly not having the fuel range?
Main reason was for the weight. Lighter bike in the sand of the desert.
Hi Josh, did you go with bigger bags for this trip? Are they 18Ltr bags? Thanks
Yea I did
18L on each side and a 12 on top 👍🏼
I did a video before I left on the trip about what I packed and how etc
@@_JoshJB_ thank you. Have only just found your channel so will have to watch your other vids. Keep up the great work 👍
What speed you sitting on.
On the dirt highways 90-100
Very uninteresting to watch really
