Everyone is always amazed at how effortlessly she sings. Have to keep in mind she is also an incredible athlete who's specialty is long distance and cross country running. Her lung power is just beyond most young persons. Even at 8 years old she was running and winning both the girls and boys races.

BP1's reaction associating it with America is not unusual. It was the song popularised by the Civil Rights Movement. Reports say that it was sung at every rally that Martin Luther King Jr held. Apart from the fact, that the lyric writer John Newton - no relation to Isaac - originally a slave trader became an abolitionist and wrote hymns, including this one, to be sung at his services. Lots of coincidence there. Amira's singing of course was ethereal..lovely reaction!
She's a superstar, and that's everything you need to say, really. Perfect every single time. Knocks your head off every single time. She's definitely set the bar for how this song is performed, but I can't honestly say that I love this more than PTX's version. They're both 10's for me. They are different versions in every possible way, not only lyric wise, but also in mood. Amira's is hauntingly beautiful, and PTX's is almost gospel in style. Very different all around. I do think, however, that Amira's version is the one that 'speaks' to most people. #endramble
@@delloso6205 PTX are Pentatonix. They're predominantly an acapella group (5 members) who sing both covers and original songs. 95% of their stuff is pure vocal and vocal percussion/instrumentation. Their version of 'Amazing Grace' is full acappela. It has more of a gospel feel to it than Amira's more traditional version. I genuinely can't place one over the other, both are fantastic.
bagpipes are normal for this song in the U.S.A. in any large setting. least I've never played it without having them ... tho not in a church setting... she did a very nice job of it... the production was very good. fun guys... nice video.

@@andrewclayton4181 Yes, the studio version on the CD is longer, but the beautiful part without lyrics is almost completely missing. And in general I prefer live performances to studio recordings.
I believe the song/hymn was written by an American slave trader, who had a revelation and saw the error of his ways. It is very popular in the US. Judy Collins had a big hit with it in the early 70s, and the Scottish dragoon guards dud a cover of it, which is why it's usually associated with bagpipes now. I always thought Judy Collins version was the best until I heard Amira give it the treatment. A lot of Amira's songs build and develop as they progress, the pauses, though doubtless necessary, interrupt their crafted shape. Which is a shame. I hope you listen to them uninterrupted later, to get the intended flavour. Her song Hallelujah builds, Bolero style, and would not carry so well chopped up. Other goodies to consider....Her Nessun Dorma, form this same show would be considered a banging tune. Amira gives it more welly than her HGT appearance at 9. She also sang The Flower duet, with Corlea Botha. It is more operatic but exquisite. Gabriella's Song, sung in Swedish shouldn't be missed, or her Nella Fantasia - Live performance in 2016. Keep them coming fellas!
Andrew Clayton. John Newton was born in London in July 1725. After he became a Christian he wrote this hymn as his testimony to the grace he found in Christ. It was published in the Olney Hymns written by himself and William Cowper and still appears in hymn books today.

@@andrewclayton4181 Yes, the studio version on the CD is longer, but the beautiful part without lyrics is almost completely missing. And in general I prefer live performances to studio recordings.
I believe the song/hymn was written by an American slave trader, who had a revelation and saw the error of his ways. It is very popular in the US. Judy Collins had a big hit with it in the early 70s, and the Scottish dragoon guards dud a cover of it, which is why it's usually associated with bagpipes now. I always thought Judy Collins version was the best until I heard Amira give it the treatment.
A lot of Amira's songs build and develop as they progress, the pauses, though doubtless necessary, interrupt their crafted shape. Which is a shame. I hope you listen to them uninterrupted later, to get the intended flavour. Her song Hallelujah builds, Bolero style, and would not carry so well chopped up.
Other goodies to consider....Her Nessun Dorma, form this same show would be considered a banging tune. Amira gives it more welly than her HGT appearance at 9. She also sang The Flower duet, with Corlea Botha. It is more operatic but exquisite. Gabriella's Song, sung in Swedish shouldn't be missed, or her Nella Fantasia - Live performance in 2016. Keep them coming fellas!
Andrew Clayton. John Newton was born in London in July 1725. After he became a Christian he wrote this hymn as his testimony to the grace he found in Christ. It was published in the Olney Hymns written by himself and William Cowper and still appears in hymn books today.
