About All In The Family:
One of the most acclaimed comedy series of all time, All in the Family with Archie Bunker as the irascible, highly opinionated, working-class family man who viewed the world on his terms and his terms only. When not arguing with his liberal son-in-law, "Meathead," Archie took refuge in his long-suffering wife, Edith, who tries her best to understand Archie's conservative ways and outdated beliefs.

Jean deserves all the accolades she received for this role and more. She was really amazing. Comedy, drama and even slap stick. I don’t watch tv much these days but is there anyone so versatile and authentic today on the tube?
She did a tremendous performance in "Up The Down Staircase."
She was indeed. The best show among many good ones back then. Nothing compares these days which is why I’ve gone a year without watching tv. We got rid of satellite tv. No going back down.
Edith was a very wise person in many ways. Her and Archie were a true love story.
Mike takes the big slice of cake 😂
I absolutely love the relationship between Edith and Mike and how he is always so gentle and understanding with her. It's almost like he thought of her as the mom he never had. Their relationship is so sweet!
And in this scene Mike stood up for Archie, maybe Mike was a Meathead but he respected Archie too at least some of the time.
they liked each other, just their stupid politics clashed.
I remember an episode where Archie was laid off (and had a major surgical procedure done), and Mike offered to loan Archie about $1,500 or so. It was enough to get them through the rut they were in.
I went back and watched the full episode. Edith's fear of losing their home is palpable and her reaction is heartbreaking. Her forgiving him at the end was total "we gotta move this plot along."
It’s very weird that Mike would defend Archie committing a felony. At the same time, I'm impressed they remembered Edith told Mike that Archie would never be more than a loading dock foreman.
It was his wife, not like doing it with extended family or a stranger. I remember when Murray came on board later on the bills for the bar were several months behind and he was losing money. Archie lacked the skills to run the bar and Edith knew it.
@@billybassman21 Gambling your house without your spouse’s consent is what they call “asking for it.”
They did their homework with that memory.
This was my favorite shows now and then 😊
Yes friend.
Enjoy the series there will never be a bunker family like this
I feel like Edith wanted to be included. Be respected for once by Archie. Like a real marriage suppose to be. (No secrets from each other, no lies, cheating etc ...) We all know Archie is shady AF at his convenience. Whatever benefits him 1st always. Meathead can't talk. He would flip too. If it was the other way around. Forged signature of him or Gloria.
What a depressing outlook….
Forgery is nothing to play wity.. and she HD every right to be angry.. since in today's world there is plenty of this going aroung
Mike always knew how to make Edith feel better and understand Archies... sometimes bullshite. Archie is a lot of things, but he does or did thing's like Mike said to better himself and to provide for his family. Archie is nuts, but hes a good bloke. I respect him, I support Archie bunker 😅👍🏻
The final two minutes made this one of the top episodes, paraphrased "All these great things we can do now that you forged my name!"
I love the callback to Games Bunkers Play in this clip.
There will be another Edith Archie and Edith made the show never will be a couple like this
Mike not eating something? Now we know something's wrong.
Mike was really nice to Edith.
that's the beauty of this show was that Archie was jealous of those who went farther than him. His bigotry was not hate, just ignorance and jealousy.
Edith's character was such a gentle soul. Honest almost to a fault and so incredibly kind. She was usually overshadowed by Archie, but when she put her foot down, he skidded to a halt. When she was upset, it destroyed him. There was a beautiful balance in those two characters.
When Archie bought the bar, shouldnt he have called Archie Bunkers Bigot Bar?
Is that supposed to be funny?
Why?
I think Edith was selfish.
Edith selfish ?? never in a millions yrs - no way !!! Archie ? YES
@@catherinebreitfeller669Exactly Edith was Main purpose of the show beside Archie. She played GD role
Because she didn't want to mortgage her home on a "chance" Archie would be successful?
@@catherinebreitfeller669 but I think she was supposed to think about her husband in this case.
I know you're joking.
