@@mahjoubadam1742 Bro making an already made beat in 5 mins is not a big deal.. and sampling looks like an easy thing to do but its actually harder than starting from scratch cuz u gotta find that one song that you gon sample out of like what a billion songs i guess... The elements were already in the sample. Stacking drums make the beat already present behave like parallel compression. Metro rolled off the original 808 notes and transposed the sample down and did the sub bass with the horn melody. Back in the day they didn’t really play the 808 in several notes. From a creative standpoint it’s really not all that. However the vibe and the song all together makes it dope. Erik B and Rakim used the sample first. The west coast always replayed the samples back in the day. This was one of Rodney O and Joe Cooley biggest song. East coast had the lyrics back then but cats was on subways and at party’s. In the West the D Boys had crazy sound systems with the trunk rattling. The way saturation is added on the 808 today is owed to that trunk rattling sound. It’s dope how things go full circle.
my biggest problem with the beats on the album is that the drums sound too steady and on beat, kinda like a metronome. wish metro would put more snares and percs on the off beats like in his older production
