Hey, we are DKDKTV, Danny Kim and David Kim. We’re both two ordinary students who major in media studies and live in Korea. We’ve been making UA-cam videos since 2016 October. We love Kpop and we’re learning and listening to it! We do reactions for Kpop and other music genres as well. Sem querer ofender ste hyuna (Gosto mt da minha baixinha) a diferença é que a anitta tem bunda :v parei. Tbm fiquei na dúvida, pq mts groups femininos mostram mt o corpo e pah.
Watching this again and idk how I missed this, but no, David, Brazilian people don't dress like that. I mean the bottom part, the top one is totally fine. It's just stage clothes like the ones Little Mix, Fifth Harmony, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Hyunah, Sistar, AOA, EXID, wear all the time when they are having a concert.
Sure we tend to wear lighter and sometimes shorter clothes on a daily basis because it's so hot in Brazil almost the entire year but we don't wear underwear or shorts this short on the streets. Unless you are talking about the poorer regions in the Southeast and the slums (in Rio) in which the Funk tradition reigns. Anitta herself (and the guy from the other video) comes from that part of Rio and therefore it reflects on a few of her stage clothes but it's not something shocking to us because it's part of our culture and we understand that. But please believe me we really don't go out wearing these types of clothes on the streets.
In fact, and please take it as an observation instead of criticism (pls), I - and loads of other brazilians (from the videos I see on Internet) - were so shocked at the size of the shorts Korean girls wear on the streets when we visited Seoul. It was so conflicting bc they were so small but the upper clothes had no hint of cleavage whatsoever. It was weird to me at first but so interesting anyways. Different cultures bring all these different standards and that's what makes world so great.
Milena Rosa I think the body structure of the people from different countries makes a huge difference in how they are perceived.The same short skirts will look cute on slim and petite girls while it will look sexy/ vulgar on girls with bigger thighs and hips.

I just want to correct one thing; Anitta is NOT from a poor part of Rio, she was privileged (not rich, ofc) and had access to good education and lifestyle, unlike most people that sing funk. :)

Guys, this kind of music really is the most popular right now, but a lot of people (like me) don't think that this totally represents Brazil. I respect different music tastes, but I just want to say that not everyone in Brazil likes twerking or this kind of "too sexy" music videos. Maybe you could react to brazilian rock or MPB, just to see a total different side of our music ^^

1 - No, this is not Brazil. Brazil is a huge country and u can't define an entire country by one song/singer. Anitta is great and really famous in Brazil, but she is not the only artist here.
2 - Please, don't use that many stereotypes when you're talking about a place you don't know. It's really disrespectful! I get, that u guys are just reacting to a video, but actually people can be kinda disappointed hearing things like " They say people don't dress like that in Brazil (wearing thongs), but this looks really similar" - She's not walking in the streets, she's performing in a music video. Does Beyonce walk around wearing the clothes she wears to perform at her concerts? "I think twerk is a thing in Brazil" "Maybe they invented the twerk"... Comparing Twerk with samba is totally crazy, u could've just searched samba to see if it was really something alike to twerk (It's not).
3 - I'm not being rude or anything, I'm just saying that, so maybe, people can start to actually care about other cultures and think a little bit more before they say things like that.

I think I'm too westernised lol bc i see videos like Anitta's and it's totally the norm, nothing risqué at all but David is so shook 😳 (I actually think "Bang" is one of her more tame videos). I'm honestly *more* surprised if MVs don't go down the "sex sells" route. You'll always see comment sections like "90% porn 10% music" or "0% porn 100% talent", but other people, if there's nothing super sexy it's boring for them.

I have to admit it is a bit weird to hear a guy saying 'it's a bit too much', but this is not the first time I've watched a video and Korean guys are complaining about too much sexiness. I think Korean female singers get just as sexy but they don't show breast and since their bodies are not as voluptuous it doesn't seem like too much to them. Or it could be because they are used to that type of sexiness and it seems tame to them. I disagree to a certain extent. Korean female singers, I think, over sexualize many of their dance moves so they are on par with Westerners.

i don't know what videos they have been watching but K-pop vids are just as sexy as this vid, the butt move they say was too much, well that exact dance move was in a 4minute vid and they were also rubbing on their dancers asses, so there's that. I completely understand David's reaction but this MV isn't very sexy imo (?). Maybe because I'm Brazilian myself and I'm so used to the standards here, I find Bang to be more on the cute side than most stuff we see on TV on a daily basis.
"Twerking" has always been a popular dance move here since idk when (also body waves) and it's not perceived to be as sexualized as americans see it or you guys see it. It's a normal dance here, especially in Rio where Funk was born.
Also Brazil is a very hot country, people, men and women, wear "less" clothes pratically all year.
But indeed brazilians love asses (and curvy bodies) and this singer emphasizes it too much I think (in most of her videos).
I really am trying to explain better how this type of video isn't as bizarre and crazy to us as it was to David (poor thing! 😂) but I don't think I'm succeeding haha 😅

THIS IS NOT BRAZIL! It's part of it, but not all. We have a bunch of different styles these were funk music, we have Bossa nova, samba, rap, rock and others. We also don't dress like that , it was only for the video. But hey, I'm not judging you guys, just letting you know we have much more than that ;)

Guys, there is a genre called MPB, it is Music Popular Brazilian, (literally), and its contain some another perspectivy in the brazilian music.
That last song DO REPRESENT Brazil (12M subs don't lie), but is poppular with the very poor and dark skinned majority, the people whom got to watch your reaction are an """upper class""" (many quotes here) that have access to culture of other countries and to learn english (1% do). They just where ashamed of the song and wanted you guys to react to this more internacionaly "commercial" song.

Actually those views aren't all from Brazil, this song got quite popular in Europe and South America. And just to clarify, people got mad cause when someone watches a brazilian video like this one and it's not a Brazilian nor knows a lot about the country, they all have the same culture shock you guys had, and this is an image we've been trying to change for a long time now, cause people tend to generalize and belive it or not, some of them think we dress and do this kind of stuff in our daily lives, which is not true.

What if they knew that this dance, video and song were not only viral among adults but also among kids? 🙈 I can totally understand their discomfort - and culture shock - but I personally really don't see it as something 19+ at all. Imagine them watching Tati Zaqui videos or Anitta's Show das Poderosas or her interactions - and dance - with Maluma on Sim ou Não even. The latter being the better song of them all.

The main difference between this song and the other one is the lyrics. You would definitely be way more shocked if you could see the lyrics of the other song (I don't really know it, but or it just repeats the same words or it's some kind of pornography in audio, it's the "bad songs" here, it's called funk, but we usually play it on parties bcs it's good to dance). This one is lighter, so it represents the "pop/funk" culture (which is very present in Brazil) better than the other one.
