3 Exciters in Action. BBE Sonic Maximizer 422A * APHEX 104 * SPL SX2

Hi i'm kiosko 33, independant artist and producer. Here's a demo of 3 hardware units known for their enhancing characteristics.

SPL SX2 is inserted on the stereo input channels of the mixing console, the signal is then routed out into the APHEX 104 Aural Exciter Type C², followed by the BBE Sonic Maximizer 422A and back into the audio interface.
This chain allows me to apply individual as well as combined processing for the instrument or track i am working on. Settings may vary considerably according to the character of the input signal (Mix, Bass, Vocals, Synth etc..).
Note : The SX2 is not bypassed during this demonstration and is set accordingly to the loop and current project.
Lately i've been using more the Aphex 104, mostly because of the tuning option on the aural exciter. It does add an extra flavor on the selected frequency. Yet and surprisingly, combining the BBE sonic maximizer with the Aphex aural exciter with surgical settings can make wonders.

Hi..which do you think is most powerful and useful.. trying to find something to add to my electric guitars tone to make it more defined clear and professional sounding I suppose..sound mixed and mastered I guess haha I've consider the spl vitalizer but one of the bbe maximizers or aural aphex with bass too..looking to find which polishes sounds the most and makes the biggest difference..which unit is most powerful and diverse

Did the BBE mess with the stereo image somehow? Or just differences in settings on L/R channel?

Signal goes out of Aphex and intro BBE. It is recommended to place the maximizer last in a chain and used subtely. You can crank It more on single elements, i.e. Bass, Drums, Synths, etc.. Hope this helps.

Look at the voltage and the amperage. You can google a power supply with the same ratings and it will work
