The best part of watching this is the realization that they directly ported the music from the Model 2 arcade version of Sega Rally 1. It sounds just like it, but compressed. Amazing!
@@pam8352 I sorta disagree. Model 2 like all arcade boards of the time used really high quality chip tunes. I don’t think it sounded weak, and in fact, like Daytona, I prefer it to the Saturn version which was recorded in-studio with actual live instruments. The slap bass of the intro theme never sounded better and “Getting Muddy” (Mountain theme) sounds like a live band on the Model 2, with amazing drum samples. Model 2 would eventually grow the capability to stream recorded music like the CD consoles of its era, as heard in Top Skater. I adore every single Model 2 soundtrack.
The GBA got a lot of crazy games in its time. I’m thankful for all the ones I got to play, even more thankful for the games I didn’t get to play, like this ambitious game. Looks super fun and I would have loved it along with my copy of Super Mario Kart Super Circuit. 🤩🤩🤩
Aw, I remember playing the game for a very long time, always trying to improve my times in the Championships, as well as trying to squeeze every last bit out of the Desert Stage. The Stratos was my go-to car once I unlocked it since it had the best handling and the highest speed with Manual Transmission (232 km/h or so).
While technical impressive, the low resolution makes it looks ugly! Gameplay seems to be okay but, imagine to play it using the Game Boy Player on a big TV - big headache!
Man. The ultra low resolution makes it look like an Atari Lynx game. I realize that the GBA was not super powerful, but there are a lot of racing games on the GBA that look much better than this.
Yep but the rest of the ngage version was far worse. It was way slower and the cars felt like they were floating, way less control and GBA had way more extras and both were different games with similarities, I have both

the immediate surroundings look too blocky and pixelated is the main problem. The actual backgrounds however that stay still in the back look kinda realistic and cool actually.
Personally I think the graphics are pretty good for GBA standards. Surely not as top notch graphics as per say V Rally 3 for GBA, but close enough. Anyways, I already finished the game, but the last event was hard..
Sega Rally on the Saturn is my all time favourite racing game, but this port looks like a big mess. It has no excuse looking that bad either, V-Rally 3 on GBA looks outstanding.
