  • This was the CD release gig at the Town Pump of Omnibol’s 12-song self-titled album in 1994. At this point, the band had already broken up, and this gig was a reunion of sorts, except for the unfortunate fact that drummer Amos Resnick didn’t participate due to a temporary falling out with bassist Robin Steen. After finishing the studio recording, Robin and guitarist Saki Kaskas had rehearsed the songs with keyboardist Jeff van Dyck and drummer Darren Sleno and invited the guest vocalists who had sung on the album to complete the lineup for the release gig. Omnibol lead vocalist Jason Michas agreed to sing on a few numbers, Skeleton, Figure It Out and Nude. Apple Jensen accompanied him on Skeleton and sang lead on Battle of the Peacocks. Robin sang his song, Lazy. The crowd of friends and fans was sizeable but intimate, and very enthusiastic. It was the last of over 20 gigs that Omnibol played at the Pump.

Is there any chance of a re-release of the 1994 Omnibolous CD? I bought the Classics CD in 2020 and (seriously) I’ve had that spinning constantly in my car’s stereo since. Preying Mantis is a regular while I drive into work. Can’t get enough of Saki’s stellar guitars! Happy New Years from NYC! :)
