    Wow...and I just bought a Colle opening book...damn you Mato lol

      Don't fret. Colle was good on openings, just not equal to Alekhine in the overall game. In this game Colle is obviously pressed in the middle game already and makes small, slightly bad decisions that Alekhine accumulates by beeing able to look farther ahead. But I imagine Alekhine must have been rather intimidating if he was as cool in demeanor as on the board...

      No worries. The Colle System is a perfectly solid if unambitious opening system for White. Very playable. I think Carlsen has even played it quite recently.

    Alekhine's vision, from such an ordinary position to conjure up a win, is just amazing, a testament to his genius.

    At 3:00, why cant black dark squared bishop be sacrificed for an attack on the king? Bxh2-kxh2, Ng4+ and so on...

    • @thedrakensangtank
      @thedrakensangtank 8 років тому

      because after kg1-Qh6, f3 and the king will run

    • @chalger
      @chalger 8 років тому

      +Thedrakensangtank but f2 would be controlled by the knight. After Bxh2 Kh1 and black will struggle to reform his army for the attack allowing white to defend, black's bishop would finally dropped.

    21...h6 - could Alekhine already see the final position, and realize that this move was necessary to avoid a back-rank mate?

      You would presume wrong. I'm well aware of how common these moves (and a3/a6) are. But Alekhine is not a common player.

    Wow, what a player Alekhine was. Mato, do you think Alekhine would have a chance against todays top 5 players ?

    • @eliduttman315
      @eliduttman315 8 років тому +5

      Alekhine was easily 1 of the strongest players, EVER. Given access to current resources, he would more than hold his own. Keep in mind that Fischer held Alekhine in the highest regard.

      Genius is genius.Some very few people are gifted with extreme chess ability and tournaments are the screening process that allows the chess geniuses to emerge. A combination of high natural ability and great memories.

    3:01 - wasn't it possible to make a greek gift? 1...Bxh2+ 2.K+h2 Ng4+ 3. Kg1 Qh6 4.Rd1 Qh2+ 5.Kf1 Qh1+ 6.Ke2 Qxg2 - it's very hard to defend; or 3.Kg3 Qg6 4.Kf3 Qh5 - again it's difficult to defend and I suggest black would win.

    3 the best and the most creative players (genial) ever and are 1. Fischer, 2. Alekhine and 3. Morphy

    • @Hypercube1729
      @Hypercube1729 7 років тому

      You do know that Carlsen easily rules them all. These wouldn't stand a chance against todays mechanical top players with all their booked up computer analyzed knowledge and chessunderstanding. It was easy being 'genius' in old times. Just look at who won titles like mr. olympia nd mr. universe in bodybuilding for like just 50-60 years ago. They are nothing today, even a Joe Schmuch gym rat like me are way better than them. It's basically the same in regards of chess.
      Those old chessmasters were great because people were generally more stupid.

    • @discouniverse
      @discouniverse 7 років тому +2

      +Hypercube1729 first of all no one knows and secondly Carlsen is losing much simple games and never produced quite complex games or traps or openings like Fischer and Alekhine did and Morphey is a genius who the first discovered 3 famous queen sacrifices that are the most beautiful to date and all games he lost (7 or 8) he lost because of trying to create some more beautiful game or when was playing without a piece

    • @ifeanyiilogbaka7099

      Alekhine should be number 1, followed by Tal, then Fischer, there are more on the lists of creative GM's.
