While this started out as a waterspout, once it came ashore it became a tornado. Therefore Woodmont, Milford, CT was struck by a tornado (most likely an EF0) on Sunday September 13, 2015.

since people keep replying to this
This would fall under the classification of "too weak to count"
The definition of a tornado is "*a rapidly rotating column of air* that is in contact with both the surface of the Earth and a cumulonimbus cloud"
This is not considered "rapidly rotating" by the National Weather Service, and therefor is not a tornado

So true. Actually was a steam devil. Same thing but over water. Could even be gustnado when it hit land. Not connected to a cloud.

That reminds me of a steam devil. A whirlwind over water and a dust devil over land. It didn't seem connected to a parent cloud.

Waterspouts are generated by updrafts coming off of warm water. That's for fair-weather waterspouts. Take that warm water away and replace it with land and of course, they die off faster. Some are generated as products of supercell storms and are a tornado that "happens" to be over water.

I know this comment is 5 years old, but that only applies to fair weather waterspouts.
