I definitely liked the movie better, it just felt like a more polished and refined version. But the movie introduced me to one of my favorite authors, Choke and Lullaby were phenomenal :)
Tyler works nights running the booth and presumably more adult movies, he is splicing into family and kids films that are shown in the daytime. The film does sort of make it look like he is splicing the porn into the film right before he puts it on, but in the book makes it more clear.
Tyler shows up for a split second four times before he officially meets him. The stuff the group leaders say at the parasite groups etc. is the basis of what tyler and the unnamed character say. He went to those groups and subconsciously used their leadership skills for his own group.
Something else you may not have noticed is that the preacher that gets sprayed by the hose reappears later in the movie as a member. Watch for the dude with circle glasses and a cross necklace.
When they talk about the house's similarity to Blade Runner I'm surprised they didn't mention that Jordan Cronenweth was the DOP for Blade Runner, and his son Jeff was the DOP for Fight Club.
love the video, please calm down on the interactive cards. it was so invasive I had to stop, Google how to turn it off, and do so. a bit of shilling other vids are expected but pls don't overdo it
Nice Wilmington reference for the book...but you could have least pointed out the Easter egg where they talk about Fight Clubs in other Delaware towns for that segment...........
Here's some facts. 1. the scene where theyre hitting golf balls drunk at paper street. They were actually drunk and broke a window on the catering van. 2. The grade school line was actually written by fincher to appease the execs and while they found it more offensive it tested better with the audience so they left it. 3. The main characters name is actually Sebastian.
I knew it was 'based' in wilmington, because I live there :P 'paper street' actually kind of exists as well. There's many MANY areas along the river that are nothing but a few houses and industrial areas that are either unused or those there couldn't give a crap about anyone else. It is entirely possible in the 'miniature NYC' that is wilmington to find areas where there is not a soul around in miles.
I may spoil the third video but here goes: . . . . The Paper Street house in Fight Club was a homage to Blade Runner. The Director of Photography of Blade Runner was Jordan Cronenweth. The Director of Photography of Fight Club was Jeff Cronenweth, his son. Fincher has worked with Jeff more than any other DP during his movie career. . . . . . BONUS: Jordan Cronenweth set up the lights and shot some scenes in Alien 3 - Fincher's debut film - before he died.
Adrian Gofredo Well Jeff only handled 1 of Fincher's 4 movies from the 90s - Fight Club. I think Fincher has a stricter authority on the look of his movies than any of his DPs. Hell, look at 1 Hour Photo - another movie Jeff worked on, it looks nothing like a Fincher movie.
Paul Staker I just looked into it and yeah youre absolutely right. Its more of a Fincher signature. I really miss that cinematography he used in the 90's. Se7en, The Game and Fight Club looks so crisp and gritty it looks better than movies nowadays.
Here's a thing CINEFIX You probably didn't knew .The movie itself has several cigarette burns with Brad pitt as Tyler Durden . You could see it at 7 : 34 minutes, brad pitt standing besides the old guy in the first testicular cancer meeting, after they all thanked Thomas, It appears for miliseconds and another one at 12:37!!
Most people don't know that, though there are a few streets named "Paper street" in the USA, the phrase "paper street" is surveying/mapmaking jargon for a street that only exists on paper. In other words, the city planned to put a street there, they own the land, and it's public right-of-way.. but it has not been cleared, paved, or had any type of "street" built there.
Random fan theory I find fun to ponder... Narrator is Cameron from Ferris Bueller's Day Off grown up. In Ferris, the only person home sick is Cameron and he envisions what a day off from school would be like for Ferris instead of actually being home alone because he's already begun splitting when he destroys his dad's car.
It is interesting, how appropriately I've finally fully watched "Fight Club" a few days ago - for some reason A LOT of UA-cam videos from channels which I'm subscribed to started to give it much attention. Yay to CineFix for clever single-frame inserts - a great technique which was popularized by the movie, but was kinda always there. I've noticed two obvious ones but I wonder whether one on the 2:07 was planned. Looks a little bit like an editing mistake which was kept because it suits well. Which is a good things as well - I like when people treat their goofs and mistakes in interesting way, eliminating the nature of a mistake.
It's mesmerizing how one action scene like the imploding buildings scene could take so much time, effort, and money to produce yet largely inexpensive scenes like Norton on the toilet or Pitt riding a bike partially without apparel share relatively the same amount of final cut scene time.
You can still say that the movie was based in Wilmington, DE because in the scene where the Narrator and Tyler are talking about where different fight clubs have sprung up (while hitting cars with baseball bats), a lot of the places are near/around Wilmington. One of the towns they mention is my home town, Penns Grove, which is in NJ about a half hour away from Wilmington. Fun fact, also where Bruce Willis grew up.
The movie was really filmed in Wilmington. Wilmington, CA that is, which is a neighborhood in the city of LA. The house on paper street was about 5 blocks down from my apartment complex. Lou's bar was about 5 blocks from the house on paper street in another direction. The Raymond K Hessel scene and the scene of the priest being proked into a fight were also both filmed in Wilmington, CA. A park was built over the sites where the house on paper street and Lou's bar used to stand. The tire repair place where the provoking a fight scene was filmed was still functioning and looked just as it did at time of filming in 2015.
Guys I have a question, in the scene were Tyler and the narrator where in the car before they crashed, the other 2 guys in the backseat seemed to be responding to Tyler and The narrators dialog as if they can hear the conversation between both guys, why was that?
+Michael Matt Tyler knew what The Narrator was going to say to them, so he told them how to respond when he was talking to himself or if he went back on what he originally said
Really I did not know Fight Club did have a connection to Blade Runner that's awesome both my favorite movies only behind the Lord of the Rings Trilogy,Batman saga except (Batman and Robin)and Scarface.
