I was just about to say that you need a caulk gun a minute before you decided you’d get one. Clamps are easy to find online or at any home store, WalMart or maybe a Michael’s or something along those lines. Just as an artsy crafty gal, I’d probably start using Gorilla Glue to mark where you want the caulk to go. It won’t hold the travertine for good, but can kind of help you place the stands on the back. To break it, you’d literally have to walk outside and drop it on a sidewalk or parking lot. Super strong suggestion that likely goes without saying…GLOVES! Like thicker dish gloves. Caulk will take skin with it, especially strong caulk like Liquid Nails. Shoot it on with the gun, but spread it with a finger or paint scraper to level and even it out. Once you have it placed and it’s dry, if you want you can mix a little acrylic paint and go over the caulk to help blend it in. 😊
For the sign: I would maybe put the back parts on horizontally in stead of vertically because otherwise the weight balance might be off and it could fall forward. Fun project though!
DIY SUGGESTION: i worry that since you don’t have anything supporting the front side of the sign that it could easily fall forward! I would glue your little “support” tiles a little higher than the bottom edge so that the whole sign leans backwards slightly rather than straight vertical. that way there’s no chance that a bump makes the whole sign fall forward!

I would think your back supports should be on angles. If they are straight up and down, the sign may just fall over forward from the weight. It needs to lean backwards a bit.

I would seriously consider putting weight on/clamping the stone when you glue it. I think it will still set without weighs/clamping but it will probably be more secure if you do it. Good luck!
