Rolled Over 6.0 Powerstroke Sitting for 12+ Years, WHAT A GAMBLE!

  • This video is a bit different from the usual but it was such a unique situation I had to share.
As many of you know, I own and run a full service auto salvage business called Importapart, located in the Saint Louis Missouri area. I don't buy a lot of cars because I don't have a large lot. That means I have to be pretty picky with what I buy. Our vehicles are wrecked, totaled, flooded, burned, mechanically totaled, etc and they come from places like Copart, IAA, tow lots, shops and even the local public.
A local tow lot closed a few years ago and recently they had an auction to sell off everything that was there. I bought 5 vehicles including this truck. When picking up the title for this truck, talking with the owner of the former tow lot, he told me that truck was wrecked in 2010 or 2011 and parked on their lower lot ever since.
As with many of our vehicles, we don't really know their condition until we try to get them started, and tear into them. This thing had a ton of aftermarket parts like a long arm lift, ranch hand bumpers,. enormous exhaust stacks and some large wheels and tires. When we powered this up we were in for a shock!
So now this entire truck is inventoried and if you'd like to buy parts from it, you can go to www.importapart.com or email us at Importapartsales@gmail.com.
As this channel evolves, I want to show other parts of this industry I've been so deeply rooted in for 20+ years.
I hope you enjoyed this video, and as always, I love all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism. Catch you on the next one!
    -Eric

Every single thing on it works and it’s fun to drive, tows awesome too and I’d drive it anywhere, I drive it every single day. I’ve done some repairs to it and I am religious about maintenance such as oil and fuel filters but I’ve never done any headgasket work or other major stuff. These trucks are awesome to me because they’re like a modern Highboy, just enough amenities to make you plenty comfortable but not too complicated, and in my opinion pretty easy and cheap to work on.

All this engine needed was base oil pressure then the hpop kicks in and can fire the injectors. As others have said, soon as the oil pressure switch activated it was going to try to start... And it succeeded.
If anything, from that startup especially if his guys got it running recently... There is a check valve issue probably an incorrect/aftermarket oil filter allowing the filter to drain back and require extended cranking to refill.
Blue spring update is always a good thing to do, but fuel pressure was never the problem for the extended cranking in this video.

Man, the vin issue is a pain. I wonder how much of a pain it would be to get a gasser and just move the drivetrain into it?
Considering tuck prices it might be worth it. But a sun 100k mile 6.0 is going to sell for a nice $$$ too!

I’m surprised the tow yard didn’t scoop that truck - likely all they had into it was the tow and storage. I used to own a tow yard and I’d have grabbed that thing right away. Easy to get a title for it, just a bit of paperwork and some waiting, and it’s yours.

If you can swap that truck (ton of work) you would have a $30,000 truck, but the 6.0 would need some easy updates, it probably has a leaky stc fitting already (it's building high pressure oil is why it takes awhile to start).

If you said you'd give me 10 of those trucks or one 5.9l Cummins... I think you know what I would pick.

Cab swap and save this thing!
Those stacks are referred to as Aussie style turn outs, and imo were the best looking ones although the stacks phase in these superdutys is kinda faded away nowadays! I had a '00 f250 7.3 ECLB w\ dual 5" straight stacks and I loved that look, but this Aussie style looks better. The days of stacks being popular are gone now but they had their time like everything else. Lmao
Please save this thing. As others have said this will be a $35-40k truck put back together nicely especially w\ those low miles and keeping it a King Ranch interior. I'd buy it right now, as is if i had the $$. It'd be interesting to know what you bought it for....if you paid $3 -4k or less, you're doing great, imo! Wish i could find a deal like this!! Keep us updated plz @IDoCars
