      Works great. Tire chains and rear weights are a must. The dolly to move the snow blower itself always works wonders as it is very heavy. Be careful of the cable for the chute. It is flimsy and snaps like a twig if it is moved to much.

    Looks like the 590 install is a bit easier than the other 500 series tractors as you don’t need the additional lift plates underneath. Just placed a X590 on order and waiting for the deck. I wanted one that could handle a blower and not be a huge hassle to switch over. Looks like I made the right choice. Had a chance at a used like new X758 but wife didn’t like the size just to big. This was our compromise so I hope we like it, also requested the X700 seat upgrade hoping this will last us as long as we need a tractor.

      +richa237 Thanks for the compliment. I really like thew tractor. It is worlds better than my old YardMan (as one would expect). It feels like driving a car in comparison. It starts quick and easy (fuel injected engine) and is very nibble (power steering and very small turning diameter). The mowing deck is well built and mows nice and level., While it is not exactly mowing, you might want to check the end of my leaf rake video to see how well it can move around. ua-cam.com/video/hb6IILB_M4k/v-deo.html

    • @DavinDesborough
      @DavinDesborough  Рік тому

      6:26 - It is not so easy at first. Gloves help a lot as they give you better grip and protect from any edges. Be sure to have the blower raised fully up as that gives you a tiny bit more slack (I think). You might try using a clamp or something to pull the idler wheel in and give you slack. Good luck!

    Great video! I'm currently in the market for a new mower and have it pretty much narrowed down to the X570 or X590. I was wondering what are your impressions to this point of the X590? How is the cut quality and does the electronic fuel injection seem to make it pretty fuel efficient? Thanks for any info. you can provide!

    • @DavinDesborough
      @DavinDesborough  7 років тому +4

      The x590 is a great tractor. It cuts well and does a great job in the snow. While I expect the EFI makes it more efficient, it is hard to say for sure. This is the largest tractor I have ever owned, so I don't have and apples-to-apples comparison for it. It holds about 5 gallons of fuel and I feel like I go a reasonable amount of time between fill-ups. What is nice is that it starts up immediately, summer or winter. The tall seat is very comfortable ( I have some rough land) and the hydraulic lift is nice to have when used with the snowblower. I am certainly happy with it.
      If you have any specific questions, let me know and I'll gladly answer if possible. Thanks for watching and for the compliment!

    Just came across your video and both Liked and Subscribed. I am on the southern most tip of Lake Winnie with about an 18-20 degree incline from the house down to the road of about 50'. Awd or 2wd is my dilemma. Can't plow it nor use chains. Looking at Terra Grips instead of chains. 590 or a 738; 738 is a lot heavier and bigger and storage space is an issue. 590 seems to fit better just worried it won't be able to snowblow that incline. Your thoughts?

    • @DavinDesborough
      @DavinDesborough  Рік тому

      The no chains requirement is tough. I could see snow blowing down the driveway and then driving back up to take the next pass, but any ice would probably leave you struggling to get back up. With chains, I think you'd be OK. Just snow and you'd probably be fine with no chains. But ice is a given at some point. Why can't you use chains? I have not had any damage as a result of using them. I just looked at Terra Grips and perhaps they would work. I am a little skeptical given that are smooth, but the edge might still help grab on ice.

    • @DavinDesborough
      @DavinDesborough  6 років тому

      Thanks for watching! With a blade I am going to suggest you get the chains. Even with a blower, the wheels will spin if it gets especially slick and you are pushing into deep snow. Since you are just pushing the weight, it will be worse for you. I was able to go without the chains last year ('16-'17), but we didn't have much ice. This year I very much needed the chains as we had a lot of icy storms. Enjoy your new tractor!

Do you as well have any push/pull blades for gravel-dirt-snow work? sorry to ask such a personal question on the price but I have no idea what this beast would cost & I have not had the chance nor the opportunity to visit my local John Degree dealership

      Hello Rodney. Lets just say the total package was "not cheap". You can get current prices on the attachments here: e-marketing.deere.com/ViewAllProducts.do#RLEAW
      I purchased the tractor, 47" blower, chains, weights, mower deck, and snow cab all in one go. I don't remember what the individual prices were at the time.
      I have no blades, I only mow and use the snow blower. The last snow we had was about 8 inches of heavy, wet spring snow. While I could hear the engine working more than usual and I had to drive somewhat slow, the blower was slinging that stuff 20" in the air and probably 40' feet away. It would have taken all day to clear that with my old walk behind blower. I continue to be very happy with this purchase.

    • @DavinDesborough
      @DavinDesborough  8 років тому +1

      +Thomas Henderson Funny you should mention your knee, that was a decision point for me too. I've managed to wreck my left knee three times and I figure arthritis is in my future. The attachment lift pedal on JD tractors is on the left. I therefore was interested in the hydro lift. I had my eye on the 540 (I think), but they discontinued it shortly before I went to buy. The 590 was coming out and I liked it's features, so I went with it.
      It is a beast and all the tractor I need for my 2.5 acres, which includes some rough land I am just now taming. As for snow clearing, I bought this after the last snow of last year and this winter has not given us much of a test. The first real snow we had was followed by rain and I was not very quick about clearing it. It had started to turn into concrete before I got out. What would have been an epic fight with my old walk behind was only a mild struggle with the tractor. I never got stuck and the engine never bogged down, but I did find I was struggling a bit to make forward progress, even with chains. That said, it made it through and did really well after I made it through with the first strip. It did take a couple passes to really clean down to pavement. All other uses have been on an inch or two of powder and it just ate that up as expected. Still waiting for the first 6" snow fall.
      Let me know if you have any other questions. Check out the rest of the video on my channel as I have done a few on this tractor. The "first look" and "Conversion from snow blower to mower" videos show me digging into a snow bank last year.

    we have a X530 with a snowblower do you have any info tips on the lift linkage for the snowblower? we have it installed and running just can't get it to lift...at allll... off the ground...

    • @DavinDesborough
      @DavinDesborough  10 місяців тому +1

      Assuming it uses a similar mechanism (pivot points and a connecting rod) there are only a couple possibilities.
      1. The rod has been threaded out so far that it can't lift, only push down. If the snow blower is on the ground, then the lever the rod hooks to on the tractor should be fully forward.
      2. Assuming it is hydraulic, something is wrong there. That said, the mower deck lift and the snow blower lift are all the same mechanism, so if your deck goes up and down when attached, so should your blower. Again, it could be a hydraulic issue where it can't build the pressure to lift the blower as it is heavier.
      If your lift is manual via pedal, then I am really short on ideas. In that case, my only thought would be that the lift for the snow blower has come free of the rest of the mechanism somehow.
      So, check the adjustment of the connecting rod. Make it as short as you can while still being able to hook things up (be sure the lift is in the down position). Other than that, I am really just guessing. Good luck! If you figure it out, I would love to hear back. Perhaps someone else will hit the same issue and you can help them.

    • @DavinDesborough
      @DavinDesborough  6 років тому

      The wights , absolutely. They counter-balance the weight of the blower. As for the chains, I would err to yes, get them. I did go through last year without them, but it was not a bad year for ice. This year we have a lot of ice and I probably would have been stuck or unable to push forward several times if I didn't have the chains. The tires on the x590 are fairly aggressive, and work well in snow, but they won't help on ice. You'll enjoy the blower. It eats up huge swaths of snow and throws it far.

      I happened into the JD dealer just as the x590s were announced. Mine is one of the very first of the 2015 models. The 47 " snowblower will fit. I don't know if the mounting bracket and belt come with the blower, or if you need to buy those separately. I purchased everything as one big package. You'll also need three of the plate weights to hang on the back of the tractor. I recommend getting the tire chains as they really help when it gets icy. I currently have the turf master tires on my new mower, but when I saw these on your mower, I thought that might be a good middle of the road setup (less aggressive than AT101 and more aggressive than the turf master). I'll check those out if these turf master don't do well enough when it's wet this spring.

    Just purchased a x590 myself. I would like to know if you have had any power steering issues? After about an hour of mowing steering the machine becomes difficult. So much so that if you keep going you have to use two hands to turn the wheel! My Deere dealer is scratching their head and it is frustrating for me. Just trying to get another owners perspective.

      Wow, that's no fun. I have had 0 problems with anything on the tractor. Over 3 years old and 110+ hours. I hope they can figure out what's up because it is a great tractor in my opinion. Best of luck!

      Sounds Like cavitation to me. If air is getting into the system the fluid will stop acting like fluid and the steering will become much more difficult. Check to see if the fluid looks frothy when the steering get hard. Just a thought.

      @@markg.2501 Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out next time I have the issue. I would think the techs at deere would look into that but who knows? Again I appreciate the help.

    Whats the hydraulic braket part number. Where can i get it. And do you know if it would work with a snow plow

    • @DavinDesborough
      @DavinDesborough  7 місяців тому

      The part the hooks the blower to the tractor is AM147137, and you can get is from places like this: www.greenpartstore.com/John-Deere-Hitch-AM147137.html. If your tractor has the hydraulic lift, you should be able to use it to mount a blade. That said, please check with a dealer to be sure. I have no experience with using a blade on the machine. Here is a diagram of all parts involved with putting a blade on a x590 partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/76571/referrer/search/pgId/605490042. I think a bunch of it is for a manual lift, but not sure.

    How fast/powerful is it in reverse?

    • @DavinDesborough
      @DavinDesborough  4 роки тому

      It is fast enough. I have never really measured it, but it goes at least 1/2 full speed in reverse. I guess it is best to say I have never found my wishing it would go faster in reverse. It backs up just fine with my leaf vac fully loaded when I go to dump it. The land where I dump the leaves is very rough and uneven and it has no problem pushing all that weight in reverse.

    Thank you! I only have 1/2 acre but with a knee replacement in my future I will need to depend on a beast like this. I,m just torn between x590 and the x738 with zero interest I,m leaning towards 738 knowing it's over kill. Your videos are awesome!

    • @DavinDesborough

      +Thomas Henderson The 700 series looks nice. The 4 wheel dive would be great in the winter. As you say, a bit of overkill for 1/2 acre. That said, if you have to finance the 590, the cost might not be that much more to go to the 738 if it has 0% APR.
      Whatever route you take, enjoy! Thanks for the compliment on the videos.
