Have you tried black mollies? I have just unleashed 5 in my 10 gallon aquarium which is experiencing a string algae infestation. I am slowly getting rid of it, even without their help by bumping up the fertilizer dosage while removing all the string algae, doing 1-2 water changes a week and replacing the filter floss / cleaning the filter once a week.
Funny just hours before this video was released I introduced amano to my aquariums to deal with thread algae. But I learned something in that process... there are neocaridina which look very similar to amanos which live among baby amanos. I discovered this because one of the shrimp I bought was a berried female. Amanos wouldn't be berried in freshwater or be berried at this small size. It was being mean to the real amanos and even ate part of the tail of one. I am returning that shrimp!
That's pretty crazy. I have amanos and neocardinias that seem to get a long fine. All of my amanos were much larger than the neos at the time I bought them though. FYI. My amanos become berried in my freshwater planted tank. They just lose them at some point.
I just put my betta in prison(fry box) in his aquarium because I’m tired of trying to keep up with the hair algae and dumped 20 Amanos in. If I didn’t confine the betta he would murder all of them. It’s been 3 days and 90% of the hair algae is gone. These shrimp are amazing.
