If you are wondering what I've been up to when not sailing Wave Rover check out my other channel: Rover's Rest: / @roversrest
Thank you and fair winds
Even with a temperature of -2c Wave Rover was perfectly comfortable and no condensation was detected. The more time I spend on Wave Rover the more I appreciate her cruising abilities.
She won't make one single drop with you there breathing down her neck (ha!)
Yes the more water you keep out of the boat the better i reckon lol
About that: Do you have a plan to get back aboard?
@@nickgoodall578I was planning to do a little test on that when I get to warmer water.
@@RoversAdventure Oh yeah, that's good too. 😆I actually meant, looking at your AIS position, it looks like you've been on shore leave since November. When are you planning to get back to the boat to resume sailing? or are you sailing now in stealth mode?!
I love the sound when you hoist the sail, and the boat starts to move and you hear the water start to move over the hull. Thanks for sharing Alan. Safe travels.
Couldn't agree more!
Nice to meet you, Tom.
One item I had on my first sailboat that I had to take with me on my current sailboat was my wall mounted oil lamp. The glow of the light fills the cabin and while warming the cabin just enough. I highly recommend one. Plus it really adds a classic nautical look ⛵️
Totally agree
When I sail off the anchor I raise the sail first and then the anchor. That way as soon as the anchor is up I'm on my way.
I don't know what summers in the U.S. would be without the sound of lawn mowers and the smell of fresh cut grass.
Quieter, less polluted and less monocultural. But yeah, rah rah for the rich and their flags.
Rich is only in the eyes of the beholder. I am retired and nowhere what you consider rich like most of the other Americans that PROUDLY fly the American flag. Great video!@@tonybarnes3858
Another great video Alan. It is great that there was no condensation in Wave Rover II.
Thanks Ron. I was pleasantly surprised with the lack of condensation and the ease of effort to keep WR heated.
What a great supportive friend Tom is! So glad you have the heater - no fun being cold 🥶 Love the video!! ⛵️
Thanks Linda. Tom continues to be a great supporter.
Love it !!!! We anchored our Corbin 39 in exactly the same spot as you were at the start in 1990 ! Yes, a beautiful anchorage for sure.
That's amazing. Thanks for sharing
I had a pair of those rubber dipped work gloves for raising the anchor on my first sailboat, worked like a charm.
Nice Deep Purple reference. 🙏❤💪
Always a pleasure to sail out of an anchorage … well done. PS: That Deep Purple reference had me reliving some way back memories … thanks!
Peaceful
So glad you came up my favorite river Alan. You are correct about peaceful anchorages on the Sassafras, from were you stayed in Money Cove there are 8 wonderful places to tuck into with Wave Rover between there and Georgetown. We really need you to comeback and explore the bay when you have another lifetime to do so.
I cannot think of a better combination, Wave Rover and the Chesapeake Bay.
Shallow draft, twin keels, and a muddy bottom. 3 things that go well together
Get some welding gloves for pulling anchor . Get the glove waaaay to big for you so you can flip your hands and they come off without pulling them off .
Good idea
Agree, Whatever you might need for a passage to avoid common, avoidable injury -- hands + ankles and below. This one counts, if hoisting anchor yourself. Often, it's the easy, small stuff....
@user-to2oz2dl6m look at Barry in tales of a old seadog GOT celuitietus and spent a couple of weeks in the hospital. From walking in birdshit in rhe marina
So neat! Sorry I missed you on the Sassafras’s and you were about 1 slip away from where I am going to be at next year. Too funny! Safe travels!
Next time!
When you convert the obvious freezing point temperature to ºF but leave those little ranges (still cold) in ºC only... 😅
Forecasts are notoriously inaccurate in both C and F
Hi, thanks for a great vid. Can you give an idea of your plans, short/medium term, woggle be interesting
Absolutely! I plan on doing a such a video mid April.
Beautiful blue sky and smooth water. Did you plug the heater in at the dock, are in WR's inverter? Thank you for your videos!
At the dock. A heater would draw more power than I could replenish.
Hey Alen, Have there been any updates regarding the potential for CnC plans becoming available?
I've enjoyed watching your videos alot, And have been converted to the Small Boat philosophy by the likes of Sven Yrvind and Captain Perry.
I'd like to build a boat with my father, And I think the Wave Rover is Awesome and a kit boat will be much more forgiving when it comes to assembly.
Cheers from NZ
Send Andy an email at adize456@gmail.com for an update
What a gorgeous area to anchor… Alan have you considered a diesel heater?
Yes. It's an idea that I may implement if I sail Northern Europe
There is so much noise on a boat! The sound of the mast and sails rubbing, the waves slapping against the hull. I don’t know how you sleep haha.
Do people ever make metal to metal contact patches to reduce unwanted noise from the mast and sails, or is it just something a person gets used to? The day to day things of being a solo sailor are fascinating to watch.
Don't worry, they have servants to cut the grass.
lol
Please activate 'Waverover Time Machine', place a chain locker and proper Sampson post.
lol
Where do you store your anchor & chain?
Black bucket on the port side of the cockpit
@@RoversAdventure thank you for sharing. May I know what is your anchor weight? Length of chain and size? And rope length?
@@24hourtravellers 6 kg Rocna with 30ft of chain 5/16 and 120ft of 5/8 rode
@@RoversAdventure thank you for the info and all your videos. ⛵
