I Made a Pair of Black Smiths that Were Half Brothers that were a Half Elf and a Half Orc. Because Why Not have their Mother Have a Divorce with the Elf Douche and go for Dregro The Orc Huntsmen who is actually a Real Chill Guy who is a Great Step-Father.
Well These Half Brothers Mother was a Human named Eva Sampson. She was a Maid to a Castle who Fell In Love with an Elven Noblemen Named Carrvin Silverthron. after Courting one-another they eloped and got married. But after awhile Carrvin got too controlling and Abusive To Eva. He would Treat Her Like an Object. The abuse got so Bad that She Ran away while with Child. She Ran to the Country of Lainn. She stayed in a Small Village outside the Capital while raising her 4 year old Son Calvin Sampson. One day Calvin got Lost in the Forest for days to the point that the Village thought Calvin had Died. But One Morning an Orc Hunter came out of the Forest with Calvin in his arms Uninjured and Fed. This Orc Hunters Name was Dregor. after such a feat Eva considered Dregor a welcomed Guest to the Family and a Friend to the Village. and after a year Eva and Dregor Became close and Eva would eventually Marry Dregor and Bare His Child. This Childs Name was Drako. Turns out Dregor wasnt just a good father to Drako but treated Calvin as his own. he taught the Brothers how to Hunt, how to Fight, and How to Blacksmith. The Brothers really Loved the Blacksmithing Lessons that when they grew old enough they would move to the capital and become The famous Blacksmith Duo the Sampson Brothers. I Not that great of a Writer i will be Honest but i love making backstories to my NPCs that will later form into major Quest Lines.
"[because of their dark vision] half elves make excellent rogues, able to scout ahead to...see what's about to eat them." *Enter Umbra Hulk picture* I still remember how freaked out the party was in episode 3 or 4 of campaign 1 when they realized they were going to have to fight one again, having fought them pre-stream (and apparently doing badly.)
To add to the utter alienation of a half-elf, add the fact that you can have a half-drow. That's right...a entire race of elves widely considered to be the most vile and wicked race, and your poor half-elf ends up looking just like them...and guess what? Most dark elves will just simply hate you for your "imperfect" diluted bloodline...and average people will just fear you. But hey, you don't get sunlight sensitivity...so that makes up for it...right?
And might fit in with Eilistraee interestingly enough. Like they would connect with Drow who wanted to throw off their vile reputation yet people still distrust them. If Half Drow came from there, then they might not be that shunned and Eilistraee would see them as example of Drow surface race coexistence along with her encouragement of interracial relations might result from such offspring. Plus made a Half Drow bard who is essentially Charlie from Hazbin Hotel except with supportive parents.
Ahh Half-Elves, probably one of the best PHB races. Always fun to play with the CHA based classes, or to give a little CHA bump to any other classes for some flavor in talking to others in general when alone from the rest of the group and your typical face of the party. Though, all benefit from the light cantrip since it lets you see in color, also if you are in a group with a strict RAW DM, not having a light source puts a -5 on your passive perception or disadvantage on your perception checks in general due to dim light being counted as lightly obscured which in turn grants disadvantage on perception check that rely on sight. Meaning you might miss the pressure plate or trip wire trap.
@Follow the howl Main reason I believe that is, due to the fact with investigation you are physically touching walls, objects, etc etc. Vs based on sight of actively trying to notice if something was off, hence why if you try finding out if a door or chest was trapped you roll for Investigation vs Perception. While trying to notice a pressure plate or trip wire you use perception. So Environmental vs Objects is when you probably decide for traps which you use.
This is perfect timing! My freind that's never played D&D before decided to play a half elf! I showed him this series yesterday and now you upload a half elf quick build!
I was in a bad mood from work today but after this video i'm suddenly in a good mood, thanks Laura and crt role! Also love the handbooker helper videos!!!
'When a human and an elf love each other very much..' My elf character, who was abandoned as soon as she was old enough for 'not being pure' and being 'a burden on her Elven mother' and only ever met her father because she went out of her way to seek him out and spent 3 years searching for him and knows full well that her parents didn't love each other:
Thank you, Laura, this was wonderful! I didn't even think about the 200 yr lifespan but maturing at human speed. I am now in trinket withdrawl though ;_;
One of my players is an Archfey tiefling warlock who choose Sleep. I already know he's gonna overuse it. So I made his "nemesis" a half-elf. (All of my players have nemeses, the tiefling warlock has the half-elf also warlock. the cleric has a halfling ranger/fighter. paladin has an elf rogue.)
#TeamHalfElf all the way, even if I'm playing a variant human rogue/fighter right now. But previously, I've played two half-elven Eldritch Knights (one of which also dipped into warlock even though I never got to use him after that). And that racial versatility regarding ability score increases, skills, languages, and everything else really make half-elves very capable to play as.
the real question is, what happens if a half-elf then procreates further with a human or an elf. does the math just continue straight forward so that the result would be a 1/4- or 3/4-elf? and more importantly, at what residue percentage of the other race might one be considered a true human or elf again? like at below 1% maybe? or are you just always a half-elf regardless of percentile heritage? and why are the half breeds always half human? what would come out of a union between an elf and an ork? el fork? how many tines would the fork have? why is it spanish by default? does whichever side of the union was male or female have any influence on the number of tines? or how about a half-orc and a tiefling? would their offspring be one of the 47 ronin? which one? maybe keanu? so many questions..
Probably one of the remaining loopholes to make Humans super special As for Elf and Non-Elf hyrbids I think High Elves will see them as Half-Elves no matter what while Wood Elves will probably be more lenient.
My favorite character I've ever made was a half-elf bard with advantage in deception,persuasion,and slight of hand who was not only a kleptomaniac but who liked stealing bones from the fallen enemies, particularly the kneecaps. I had lots of fun with that character
@@Hawkatana idk, outside of being really magical they look and sound like humans, they run like humans, they eat like humans really they are just really really magical humans, and besides, it's DnD, uniya exist, tieflings exist, a hafling and a goliath could have a kid theoretically cuz they are all considered humanoid 🤷♂
