It definitely needs to be saved as it is one of the most incredible places i have been to in a very long time! The building is completely sealed up with no access so please dont waste your time travelling there if you know where it is. As always i will or e giving the location out. Hope you enjoy this weeks video guys 😁

I used to love doing this in inner city buildings or mansions, which were due for demolition or reconstruction. It is a pity you don't look for any dates, or look into the history of the places you go.

Do you know the story behind this beautiful place? When was it built? Was it a private dwelling then turned into a hotel? Or purpose built? It seems like there is some very old features, and the rest was updated.. Why did they owner close it? Such a beautiful building and location... Sadly, if it's not given some love soon, the damage will become too much to consider fixing, and it will be the end of it . I would have thought it would be heritage listed? So many questions. I loved it. Thanks ❤️🕊️🙏🌻🍄

      Whitsand Bay Hotel
This mansion was rebuilt in 1910. It closed in December 2018 due to a significant drop in business. Just steps from the beach, the stunning stately home was a popular wedding venue for decades. The hotel has listed building consent for change of use from the existing hotel set up to construct eighteen self-contained apartments, of which 16 are two-bedroom apartments consisting of two, one bedroom 3.

This Hotel was abandoned about 2 to 4 years ago, I watched a lovely video of a wedding it was a beautiful hotel for such occasions sadly I think it was a victim of the Covid crisis as the revenue lost from weddings, functions and the Summer holiday period would be crippling for such a large establishment over such a long period of time...hopefully it will be hotel soon and bring joy to its guests once again

Hi All, this building is 5 miles from me. It has been sold to be converted to Air B&B rooms. The building originally was built 8 miles from its now position, it was removed stone by stone from torpoint and reconstructed in it position now at portwinkle, you can still see the letters and numbers on the stones. The stain glass window depicts an actual sea conflict.

Sadly closed in 2018 and sold all its furniture and is up for sale for 1.5 mill. . Actually a remarkable bit of history the house was moved brick by brick

it blows my mind that when normal people don't pay power bills it gets cut off fairly quickly. Abandoned places like this that still have power baffle me, either someone is STILL paying the bills or the electrical company hasn't shut it off yet...with all that stuff still turned on the bill wouldn't be small either o_O

If the electric bill is paid by direct debit or standing order from an account that has funds in it the electric won’t be cut off. If a company is owed money for electric and arrears are accumulating they will soon cut the power supply off.

It's hard to believe places like this end up empty. A beautiful building with amazing surroundings and views of the ocean too. Someone really needs to save this place before nature starts having its way and damp really begins to cause some damage. It's unfortunate that it's already started to go in places, but hopefully it's nothing that can't be repaired, without having to restore the whole building.
I should wait until the end of videos before commenting, as it's worse than I thought, and who knows what other nasty things could be hidden out of sight. I was disappointed to see so many tiny rooms, which don't really befit such a grand building. It has massive potential though, but whoever takes it over I think it would be much better if they reconfigure some of those rooms, knocking through to create some much larger rooms. Yes, you'd have less bedrooms, but think of what you could do with them, ending up with a really special hotel with incredible views.

I’m surprised there is no one living there or it hasn’t been taken over by squatters! let’s hope it’s left alone by them. It’s a shame its left like this it definitely needs saving. I really appreciate the way you try not to disclose where this property is.

I think that about so many abandoned houses, warehouses, office blocks, hotels, etc. They could be restored, but if not formerly housing they can either be adapted and converted or knocked down and housing built on the brown field sites. It would certainly negate the need for green belt land being used for housing. Also I think councils need to put a stop to office blocks and warehouses being built that then sit empty for years.

It is a beautiful building, not abandoned! While your video is interesting I do wonder why you think it is respectful to enter someone's property without asking permission? The small bay window at reception that you wondered about, was the original reception desk before the staircase behind was installed. Had you taken the time to enquire I'm sure arrangements could have been made to give you a tour and information about the hotel which has such tales to tell.

Yeah and no scrappers ripping it apart for the pipes, etc either - which was a relief. Judging by the lack of dirt, I do wonder if it's closed only since covid lockdown no.1 and now has someone trying to do something with it. I think if they want it for a hotel again, they really need to cut room numbers to make the fewer rooms much bigger. I mean some were so tiny you couldn't swing a kitten in them, let alone a cat.

Love these videos BUT i just can't understand why in so many of these abandoned places when there is easy entry access then why a) there aren't squatters living there b) the places havent been vandalised, c) most places don't seem to have any "live" security systems linked to the Police and d) why so many valuable items are still left there by the owners and even more so haven't been pinched by thieves!! It just doesn't seem likely in this day and age or make any sense at all.

I wonder if this place will ever come up for sale as this definitely deserves to be bought and referbished it's sad seeing it decay.
Also the window on the ground floor next to the reception was to let natural light down the basement stairs. Great video like always

I'm sure there are many homeless people that would love the chance to stay there in return for doing
some of the repair work while there is nothing else happening with it.

A beautuful building, so near the sea with gorgeous views. The salt water dies tremendous damage to buildings and wooden furniture so the upkeep would be expensive. I would say its a legal situation going on that's why there is still power. Sometimes several people own a property and dispute over the selling price can stop a sale for years, then decay starts and no one benefits. I do hope this building is saved. Thank you for showing this one. 💕🇦🇺

Wow! Gorgeous! I'm going to have to watch this again later. I missed a little bit here and there. I hope someone buys it and restores it. So far, I haven't seen major damage. (Of course, I'm only 20 minutes in but so excited to see the rest!) That view is worth a million bucks!

I stumbled across you looking for Scottish abandoned places and I'm hooked! Been cramming all your videos. In my humble opinion so many creators could take a leaf out of your book as your videos are so well done, respectful & just fascinating. Keep going I'm loving it...any chance you'll come north or have you already and I'm just late to the party. We have some stunners up here x

@@jeffbelcher5877 did you miss the bit where he didn't show the keys because they had the name of the place on them and he wanted to keep it anonymous. As soon as idiots know locations, they go straight there and trash and rob them. Good explorers are very protective.

You want to be careful that’s not connected to the police as well because of your last place you looked at you got caught didn’t you by the police so you need to be careful what you’re doing they look like they connect to sick weight Why don’t you look on the Internet and see when the hotel was open what was in there when it was being used as a hotel then it might show you what was in there

What an unusual place it's vast and yet the rooms look really small. The views from the windows are really beautiful. It is such a shame that it is in this condition, there is just too much damage for it to ever be repaired and used again. Thanks for sharing.

That was so beautiful. Just sad that it’s going to go to waste. From the looks of it it looks like a really high end hotel. But the rooms were so small with the exception of a few. You did a great job. Lily was the star of the show today. Thank you so much. Cheers from California💜😎🤟🏻🇺🇸

Yeah, I think there were major changes from it's early golden days. I think it's later years were multiple occupancies or a much lower end holiday destination because most people would be pretty upset with the tiny rooms.
