"Integrity" ... Having worked as an I.T. consultant for more than 40 years now, I can ABSOLUTELY correlate that point. I look at the people that I dealt with who had it, and they did well, and those who didn't have it flamed out, despite the 'Bible on the lobby table' and other such intentional indicators. That is such a key point.
And Taxes: My accountant always says: "I hate paying taxes, but the fact that you have to means you are making money. The alternative is much worse!"

Thank you for what you do Dave! Just found you about 4 months ago and I had no idea I was already working the baby steps my whole life! My House is paid,2 vehicles paid , we don’t owe anyone anything!!! No credit card debt! And a over fully funded emergency fund of a years salary . And a good chunk invested in a retirement fund. I’ve been called cheap among other things because I was not willingly going in debt, use my vacation, and over spend on somebody’s destination wedding. Hell we only had a hand full of people at our wedding in town and it was just as special! I’m not a big reader but my little book I call my financial bible has been the “ wealthy barber “ book it’s a great little read. But if you could just do one thing to help your self is live with in your means ! Thank you Dave for what you do and I hope one day this becomes a mandatory class in our schools to get them before the credit card company does!!!!

No it's not immoral on any level. You actually find out what you are owed to the government looking at the ACTUAL rules and loopholes rather than being stupid and pay more in taxes. You are not stealing money from those who need it or using schemes that are meant for people in need but saving your own earnings by being smart. Thats not unethical. But if you don't pay it or if you are doing shady things such as money laundering than yes you are unethical. @@NWI_Steel

Dave's talk on personal responsibility goes way further than just finances. People lack it in nearly every aspect of their life. Though I do think that is what he teaches anyways.
Social Media unfortunately is the plague on peoples minds in terms of thinking you are not living life properly. Living within your means is about all you need to become rich. I'm so thankful I've followed that advice for over a decade. Hoping to nearly outright buy a home in the next few years thanks to it.

Those with the most money just have the resources and ROI to make tax avoidance an annual occurrence.

So glad the first guy called and got the Ramsey special. That’s the problem. I paid my way through 9 years of college and came out debt free with a high paying job and I didn’t expect ANYONE to pay ANYTHING for me. I think because I was raised that way and my parents and grandparents saw that was my mindset they felt good about helping from time to time when my car was broke down or I needed an extra room to stay in because I didn’t want to sign a new lease in a bad area when I was almost there in terms of success. Young people are killing us. They’re bleeding us because they don’t care AT ALL to use our money but you wait. When you look at how duplicitous and can kicking our institutions are, it's hard to think many rich people actually have much integrity. Maybe to their "in group," but now you again "sort of" have integrity AKA you don't.

What is wrong with getting rewards of 2 to 5% for each purchase? Also, credit cards make life much easier and safer than carrying a wallet full of money. One more thing why would I drive a 20-year-old car, when I could buy a new car every 4 or 5 years with the latest technology and safety features? I do save and spent sensibly so I could afford these luxuries.

I just want to comment on some of the FarmVille stuff. I see a lot of older people that laugh and joke when people buy things in games and spend real money, but what isn’t talked about is at the end of the day it’s entertainment. So spending $20 on a game item or skin or whatever is no different than spending that same $20 on a movie ticket. Both way you have nothing physical to show for it. You either have a memory of a movie or you have a fantasy item which at the end of the day neither of them help you out in any real life situation. But I do agree with Dave where like anything this can become a problem and people can get too wrapped up in what they have in game and forget that it’s not real but I think that’s the 1% extreme of gamers.

My HUGE problem w the first guy is this: you have the blessing to be debt free, no dorm, no tuition, and you DECIDED. DECIDED!!! To go and buy a stupid ass $10,000 car on the HOPE that they’ll forgive it… there’s real people out there hoping and praying they get forgiven because they are struggling to pay a loan they NEEDED to try to go to school and here you are trying to join them for a stupidass car you didn’t need…….. just arrogant and, if I didn’t say it enough, stupid!

Considering tons of students use their allocated student loans to go to concerts, party, and fund their drug addictions it ain't that bad to pay off a car. Not much different from business owners buying things for "work" and making them as a write off.
