Brilliant video. I’m just starting out. I found this really helpful, clear and concise. It’s all explained so well! I’ve subscribed and I’m looking forward to seeing how my technique and throwing ability develops. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this videos! You are helping me to improve the jabaline throws! I have a question. Could you say how you would distribute the weekly training of a javelin thrower? Greetings from Spain!
Great catalog of videos covering the complexity of throwing javelin. Appreciate the various details, examples, and explanations. Do you offer coaching clinics in the Portland area?
One question I request you to answer: why we need to wear supporter while throw and how it helps and what it does in throwing, what happens to our back or stomach if we don't wear supporter. If we need to wear which supporter we need to buy and wear. Please answer
I can throw the javelin fairly far but I am really struggling to get my javelin to get the tip to land on the floor at all. Can you please do a video on the types of throwing and what we are doing wrong please please please🙏🏻
I had the same problem but the way I fixed it was ‘throwing through the javelin tip’ bec I was putting my force under the centre of gravity of the javelin so it would lift the tip up. Think of it like the javelin is in a pipe just wider than the javelin so u have to throw it completely straight u can’t throw it from underneath
Hi coach, how exactly do I transition quickly from the penultimate step to the block? I feel I'm bleeding momentum when I drop and turn the knee. Is that just a sign of weak legs and I need to hit the gym? You did mention it should be effortless and loose but I feel like I'm losing all the energy from the run up
Is it possible you're collapsing on your block? Dropping the right knee may change your direction of force and put too much pressure on your block. Probably not weak legs... You do want to go from a low position on the back leg but you need to deflect the force up and off of your block. In other words, deflect the force, don't stop it. Your recovery steps should be a result of an increase in acceleration off the block. Here's an old video on the block: ua-cam.com/video/2XIKiKYIsNE/v-deo.html
@@coachhalley Thank you coach, I have been binging your old videos. I don't think my block is collapsing. I'm not able to explosively square my hips. Intuitively, it feels like my right hip is not squaring fast enough and my momentum is bleeding through instead of catapulting or sling shotting me through. I'm trying to rectify that, and I feel like it's possibly because I'm landing on my backfoot heavily where I'm not able to drop and turn my knee seamlessly. Do you have any tips for being able to be 'light' on the penultimate step? should my bodyweight be ahead of my penultimate step to help relieve the weight and deflect it better into the block? As I understand, how quickly I transition from the penultimate step to the block will determine the force applied, am I correct?
@@coachhalley thank you so much sir , your video help me a lot for improving technique 👌, this is my dream that one day I'll practice in your country USA for this I'll try my best.
Hello sir Please differentiate between linear throw and rotational throw in Javelin. Do Andreas Thorkildsen users linear technique and Jan zelezny uses rotational technique? If yes then please differentiate.
Weird question, would you consider applying your analytic skills to the tennis serve? I suspect tennis is behind on much of the principles you discuss.
Such an interesting question! I would guess that similar logic in the javelin throw could be applied to other movements in other sports. I’ve had questions from cricket, baseball, American football, tennis, golf and volleyball. I’ve coached quite a few multi sport athletes and relating certain movements and concepts has always helped their understanding of the javelin throw. I’m not a technical expert in other sports but understand them well enough to relate them to certain aspects of the javelin. Side note, my best javelin throwers played a lot of different sports growing up.
I’m not sure who was throwing that day but could have been one of several top Oregon shot putters training. Turns out, that very shot ring was used by Ryan Crouser leading up to his first Olympic record. His cousin Sam Crouser (Javelin Olympian) coaches there too. Kind of a special place 😉
You put so much work into this and you deserve more recognition. Thank you so much for making these video
I really appreciate you saying that! It takes a lot of time but love it! Thx so much!

Thank you soooo muchhh...I appreciate it ❤️❤️
Thank you so much sir
10:17 sir in this exercise can use a rod or something which is not elastic and is fixed at a point? if we dont have the theraband.
You can use a rope but I’m not flexible enough to keep my hand back while doing the drill. A rope is less forgiving than a resistance band.
