Those .22 shell casings were used as in a nail gun. You can see the "crimp" wave on the open end. Not that it mattered, just thought I'd tell you.

Ugh, it’s been so cold here in PA, I haven’t been out in awhile. Just got a few inches of snow and the forecast is frigid. I’m so jealous of you two:) anyway nice video as always. I hunted a local community college today and pulled in my first foreign coin of the year... 1 Chinese Yi Yuan (2007). It must be iron clad as it is quite corroded on the reverse. Almost as bad as our US Zincolns for durability in the ground (of the 50 pennies I found today, 36 were zinc, and only one of those is likely 'spendable'). 😕Nevertheless, my first Chinese coin, so I'm good with the rust.
Very cool. I like finding the foreign coins. As for the pennies, wow do we find a lot of useless zinc damaged coins. I was told in a previous video that they can be turned in but I think the comment said by the pound? Need to look into that. Thank you very much

Hi Bill & Christine - Another nice hunt, l always enjoy your beach adventures. Quick tip if you want to check for Silver and you don't have your test kit available, often known as the spit test. Use a small piece of aluminium foil (some sweet wrappers work) put a small amount of saliva on the foil, rub the unknown item and Silver is indicated with a bad egg smell. Don't do this with potentially valuable silver items like an ancient coin, because the test polishes the surface and you might want to keep the patina. Try it at home with a known Silver item, it works really well. Good luck on your next adventure.

The two-headed nail you found is called a duplex nail, they're mainly used to put together forms for pouring concrete. The reason for the second head on the nail it's so you can easily remove them from the forms when you're pulling them apart after the concrete sets

Hi guys. Nice hunt on the beach. The sky looked beautiful that day at the start of your video and at sunset. I’ll have to wait a month or two before I can dig more holes-it’s only in the 20’s here today. My white stuff here is snow☹️. The boardwalk along the beach was sure busy with people. Gotta be a good taco joint close by there for sure. Maybe you can sell all those bottle caps glued to a shadow box frame as beach art, then add the proceeds to your clads for tacos and cupcakes. Keep Digging in the sand, B and C!

That was a great hunt, so much change. Looked like a nice day weatherwise also. I have had my coffee and cinnamon roll and a great beach hunt video to watch so am set to begin the day. I believe you will find a ring before next Saturday's video. I am going to a park tomorrow where I found a coin spill of 6 copper pennies from 1963 to 1970, maybe will dig some silver. It is an old park. God bless and stay safe.

Our beaches are SO bad right now...narrow sand, no depositors, and 2 detectors per square foot. I'd be super excited if I found a tent stake. Last time I did the beach, I got a fish hook and 6 pallet staples...off to the park for me. 🙂
I know Marti. It can be so frustrating sometimes. It seems like the hobby is getting a little saturated, but it'll be okay.

You should consider going back to Redondo and Manhattan beaches. There is a lot less riff raff at those beaches. Torrance and Hermosa beaches might be good too. There are live cams of both Redondo and Hermosa here on UA-cam. I found my first Iphone today at a local beach. One foot deep in the wet. It's trashed. Always looking forward to your next hunt!

That’s funny. In SoCal we only have two seasons: hot and slightly cool with a spit full cup of rain.
Be careful on that side of the pier, the homeless camps that were there for many months in 2021 might have left some unsafe finds if you know what I mean. Thank you for the great content.

Back in early/mid 70’s when I was a teen the beach had its fair share of the 60’s decade drug and hippie culture people who needed a place to stay. Seems Santa Monica and Venice just hasn’t changed much. ✌🏼
@@edwardheida2919 RIght? I grew up around Serrento Beach, north of the pier. We used to call it "Syringo Beach". Last spring, the camps along the beach were at an all time high. I've never seen it that bad.

Hey bill those 22 cases actually look like 22 blanks if you look towards the top you could see the crimps around the top if it was a regular 22 there would be no crimps on the top of that case.
Yes. Saw that. Someone mentioned they’re blanks for the start of the beach events that are held annually.
My first find of 2022 was a 45 slug at the park nearby. Probably an air drop from New Years night. Not sure if find is indicative of a good year or not.

That is the million dollar question. I hate to tell someone which detector to buy. There are so many great machines. The best advice is to list what type of locations you plan on hunting and your price range. With that info, you can narrow down your options. For me personally, I love my Minelab Equinox 800 and have a total of 6 detectors. I hardly use my Ace Apex but others swear by it. So you can see why it is hard to advise.
:3.15 into your video I can hear voices in the background. Like a radio on, it sounds like someone is recording something
You caught me. I listen to old radio shows when I detect... I didn't think the camera would be able to pick it up, because I had my headphones. TeeHee.
I have a question i ordered the ckg scoop but its so loose where the pole connects to the scoop how did you fix that ?

I am not sure if they have fixed the issue. We have a wing nut on ours and it is tight. CKG is pretty good about responding. If yours is not getting tight, send them a message. I wanna say ours does come lose a little and C is always tightening it down. It is the weak link for this scoop.

I think we’ve got one. I’m out and about but when I get home I’m going to link it.
What Mode do you have it on when on the beach ?
We run the Vanquish on jewelry mode everywhere we hunt and just adjust the sensitivity. The NOX is a bit more complex. I run it on beach one in dry and wet and sometimes switch to beach 2 in the surf.

I think it was about 4 hours.
I have the same Vanquish model you're using and Swinging that for 4 hours is no picnic with that 12-inch coil... you have to swing it slow or your arm will fall off.
