    I was lucky enough to train some Yuen Kay San lineage with Kwok Wan Ping in Hong Kong back in 2007 and again in 2008. It's a very interesting system.

    Thanks Sifu Sergio. Quick Question: which wingchun lineages have iron palm or palm conditioning in them? Does Yuen Kay San have it/or had at one point? Could you do a video on palm iron palm conditioning at some point? Thank you :)

    I actually enjoy a lot of your research and have great respect for the YKS lineage however many of the stories passed down by different students of Master Sum Nung have some variations that Just don't add up. ie...First was Fung Siu ching, then Leung Jan, then Yuen Kay san, then Sum Nung? As to LDPK Leung Jan learned a version allegedly from Leung Yi tai while Fung learned from Dai fa min kam Decades later. Leungs version was obviously scaled down to core elements as he continued to teach in Gulou. As to Ip Man's Wing Chun was deeply effected by the Guoshu movement of the 1920's and 30's which no one seems to talk about (or don't know about) and accounts for his abandoning Chinese medicine, 5 elements theory and hei gung once in Hong kong. Anyway, I do enjoy your work.

    This comment was erased by accident earlier on,we are sorry for the mistake.
    Furthermore I suggest anyone interested for the subject to read Leung tings book "the
    roots of wing tsun", it contains detailed accounts for the subject, by Kwok Fu, Lun Kai,
    Lee man and other historic evidence.
    As for the interview itself, there are many variations of wing tsun (chun) and we have to
    respect all them, and you can't do that if one is saying bad or inaccurate things about
    the other

    What about Leung Jiang ?? no one mentioned his impact in WC roots ?

    • @troyaustria
      @troyaustria 3 роки тому

      I believe Leung Jang is more on the Shaolin side of WC instead of the Daoist side. More relevant to Ip Man WC lineage.

    So many sifu's knew this kind of skill in the past as most of the grandmasters had indepth knowledge on the subject of health and chinese medicine , many where even doctors themselves , dont make to much out of the book in the museum it are just some notes on herbal medicine etc

    And if your my elder in the system,being either a direct student of Sigung or a grandstudent, or if your a great grandstudent as I am but are senior in time, (longer than 6 years in YKS), I will publicaly apologize to give you face, but you didnt even attempt to contact me and discuss things properly. Nor have you stated your name when sharing your information.

    What this guy is saying is just not true. Why would ip abandon Chan wah shuns forms and then continue to claim him as his Sifu? I know he did it out of respect, but wouldnt that mean hed still likely teach the weng chun forms along with the 3 forms?
    The stuff this guy says just doesnt add up.

    • @premierdeal
      @premierdeal 3 роки тому

      Furthermore, Leung Jan retired to Guolou village and taught the Guolu San sik methods, which are short range and very similar to Yip Mans techniques. If Chan Wah was Siu Lam based and Leung Jan was his his master then this form/lineage story just makes so little sense.....just saying

    Sifu Sergio, what do you think about Hung Fa Yi, pao fa lin etc. I never see you research that paths and Sam kwok lineage confirm that Leung Bik did exists. If Sum Nang really fight Yip Man why no one talk about it!?till now thats what Cheung Yung authentic foshan Wing Chun books appears..i seen his video on youtube...honestly, not that impressive. And tell me Who's left Leung Jan manuscript at Yip Man tong(where Yip Man got this from if not from Leung Bik!?).

    • @Lolitocat
      @Lolitocat 4 роки тому +3

      More Light on Leung Bik
      Wing Chun reemerged in print in 1926 and once again we have the Jingwu Association to thank. Rather than a national publication, this occurrence was published in the local newsletter published by the Association’s Foshan branch. In 2016 the Foshan Wushu Association began a project looking into the various lineages present in the city. One of their researchers, Zhang Xuelian, came across a 1926 issue of the Foshan Jingwu Monthly containing a series of biographies. One of these was published at the request of a then current member named Feng Chengjian. It recorded the story of their father, Feng Xiaoli, who had learned Wing Chun from Leung Jan’s son Leung Bik. By estimating the ages of the various individuals who were mentioned, Zhang concluded that this training probably began around 1883. This newsletter was the earliest local publication that the Foshan research team located using the term Wing Chun.
      This piece is also important for another reason. When researching my book on the social history of Wing Chun I ran across a couple of individuals who hypothesized that Leung Bik either never existed, or that he never taught Wing Chun. The thought seemed to be the Ip Man fabricated his existence as a justification for either changing his techniques or attempting to shore up his lineage status (though it should be noted that Ip Man, being a good Confucian, never claimed any Sifu other than Chan Wah Shun). The appearance of Leung Bik in this 1926 article confirms that he was indeed active in the Wing Chun world and had taken on students prior to Ip Man.

  • @Andy-ud1gd

    So if Yip Man originally learned Weng Chun. Why did every one else from Chan Wah Shun lineage call it Wing Chun?

  • @chisauking
    @chisauking 14 років тому +1

    To suggest that YKS taught sifu Yip Man the basic postures & Look-sau & seung sau, one is stating that Yip Man did not know chisau at all until he'd met YKS. Unless one can provide independently verifiable proof of this, then they shouldn't broadcast this. To do so would only cause 'negative' feelings between different lineages.
    You probably didn't learnt the 'mistakes' made by Yip Chun & Checkly Sin.

    Keep in mind, my research is over 20 years. Half of my life. Im almost a decade older than you, though I may not look it. I use an alias for a reason. Im a musician and the type of music I write is controversial. I dont want that associated with my family or my kung fu family, and so to protect them, from my private interests I use a stage name as many musicians do.

    Elder Uncle- I hope you understand my lack of understanding of the Cantonese language doesnt reflect my love and respect for the Chinese and the "Crown Jewel of Chinese Martial arts". Respect to the system and my elders is most important. My ego means nothing to me. Very simply my Sifu didnt stress Chinese culture, as our time together was focused exclusivly on the actual system. But I am willing to learn about the hierarchy and proper terminology, if your willing to teach me privatly.

    My face is attached to my account, as are videos of myself, playing guitar. I care about my family and kung fu family, and simply dont want the fact that I write antichristian music, to reflect on them, but I dont hide my face, nor my name in private. . You have neither your name nor your face, but I will take you at your word that you have in fact learned from 2 direct students, with the amount of time. As your my elder I appologize for arguing with you. If you wish I will delete my posts
