There are some beliefs (I won't go into them) which evangelicals in particular hold which I grudgingly accepted thinking them to be biblical. However, a better contextual view has helped me to thankfully ditch them with a clear conscience.
I get the impression that a negative self-image lies at the root of resistance to naturism. The work of Keon West suggests that spending 5 minutes a day, for at least a week, looking at your naked self in a full length mirror is one component of self acceptance. Another is seeing the naked physique of a range of ordinary people (rather than supermodels or fitness fanatics). These steps look familiar?
Brother thank you, you have touched on so many different points here and I think you did great. Your point on emotion and being able to follow the facts where they lead was perfect. I was wondering what you thought about the 4th commandment and the Sabbath day, that’s a whole rabbit hole too when you start looking at what the Romans were doing to “assimilate” into Christianity. Take care sir.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's always my goal to create informative, impactful content. 😄 The day of rest isn't a matter of Jew or Gentile or Sinai or anything else. The weekly day of rest was instituted in Eden in Genesis 2:3. So, a day of rest is something everyone should strive for. I don't practice a rest day because of Exodus 20: I practice it because of Genesis 2. Great question! 🤩
You're so close on the thing about fear, you just have to take it one step further. Say out loud, to yourself, and to other people (or tell them to say to themselves), "Is the only thing that's stopping me right now because of fear?" If that's a yes, the follow-up question is "ok, so that's cowardice, that's the literal definition of cowardice, being stopped by fear. So, do I want to be a coward, or am I going to be brave?" People tend to shy away from using a blunt word like cowardice, but in self talk I've found it very helpful. And it might be that the answer to the first question is "no, wisdom is also stopping me" (like when I wanted, week after week, to just strip off in church and allow myself to be naked and vulnerable in front of my Creator and my brothers and sisters. I was scared, but that doesn't automatically make it a good idea, so in the end I don't think it was necessarily wise with no groundwork either). Also, just a point of curiosity, I wonder if your vegan example would have worker better the other way around? You still want to eat a steak, but you think it's wrong, so instead you choose the nut roast and over time you get to like it more? Just a thought

I did not till recently that in the book of genesis when Noah gathered the animals to the Ark that most were two by two but clean animals were gathered in by 7 Seven animals that means some were to be ugh, gasp "Eaten" so had to have a few left for procreating more... lol

@ That was exactly the response I was looking for sir! We heed the sabbath because it was commanded for us to do so in Genesis!

"Coward" as part of one's self talk is a really good point! 🤩

I dont see the link for the Vimeo clip here
Thanks for the heads-up! I've got it marked "public" now. It was a crazy weekend, and I guess I never went back in and updated its privacy settings.
