How did they manage to produce so much musical kindness? The flute whispers rather than blows and the dialogue starting at 3'26" is a miracle, especially from 3'58" to 4'37"
la meme année (1935) Cortot enregistrait cette même oeuvre: si vous ne connaissez pas l'enregistrement je vous invite a l'écouter. A mon goût, les tempos de Cortot ont ma préférence. mais quels musiciens ceux de cette version!
When evrything seems to go too fast around you, sit down, take in Busch as in this marvelous interpretation and let time stop and dissolve in the moment! I am not sure where are my CDs of these interprétations; so thanks for this. I hope to find the complete set on Ytube.
Only a little on the slow side, the 4th is a different matter. What did these people learn that enabled them to strike closer to the mark than their Furtwängler/Karajan contemporaries? Wonderful imagination. Articulation, not mud.
La cadence dans le premier mouvement est un miracle. Rudolf Serkin la joue comme personne ne l'a jamais fait.

Yes, very gentle and elegant playing.
Rudolf Serkin was a very elegant man.
Busch and Serkin! A precious prewar recording. The sound quality is amazingly high.
He has been a pioneer, playing this gem with the the piano those days....
Serkin has a lovely touch in his interpretation! Inobtrusive. Thanks so much David.
I remember buying this LP and being stunned by the sound quality - incredible remastering. And what lively, heartfelt playing by the entire ensemble!
