The beginning of this video is the reason i never improved even though i've known Photoshop for 10+ years. I tried to do advanced stuff when i had no idea about the basics and what each tool did what. I struggled a lot getting simple stuff done and today i can say that after taking the time and learning how some things work i started improving. I would've been a lot better today if a few years back i took my time going step by step.
Exactly! And once you really start feeling things out and achieving more advanced effects...you begin to realize most effects and images are the same simple tools used in different ways. As I grow more as an artist, I rely more and more on basic tools and fundamentals!
Ive learned a lot thru your videos and Ive become better at what I try and do, and yes even my confidence has grown , even at 61 years young. So thank you and keep them coming and have a cracking New Year
Awesome Tips Abbey. Btw I'm just about to kick off chapter of the Dark Surrealism Masterclass and can honestly say it one of the best courses if not the best course (Sorry Dean, Clinton & Red :) ) I've done. Thanks for putting such an awesome course together. Well Done
Wonderful Abbey. Thank you for this. Have you considered teaching us small *exercises* that we can do to improve the basics: perspective, composition, highlights, shadows.. etc. In drawing… their daily exercises include: • draw hundreds of lines repeatedly. • drawing perspective boxes • sketching a sphere and then shading it. That said.. *What small exercises like these can we do for photo manipulation to improve the basics?* I would gladly buy a course from you, that just offered exercises, for the different areas we need to learn. Small simple exercises. I would love exercises I can do daily. Happy New Year! 🎆🎊🎈
Hey Papo, AMAZING feedback, thankyou!! We're starting to explore these smaller tips through the Shorts format, and really pushing to do 'smaller' / punchier tips with our longform videos too. Massively appreciate you supporting the channel by buying a course today, you the man ❤️ - Dean
I am VERY interested in creating a course that mimics painting practices but is built for photo editors. Frankly, I'm hoping to release one this year! I'll also think of a short form YT video for it. There is a real want/need for things like that I think.
Huh, turns out UA-cam has been keeping your videos from me. I haven't seen one of y'all's videos in my subscriptions since the "How to Create an EPIC Fantasy Castle" video back in September. Super happy to see y'all are still making things! Time to binge the content I missed out on.
It's amazing that you've re-dicovered our videos Fineapple! It says here that you're not subscribed, so that may have been the issue? REALLY appreciate your support! ❤️ - Dean
@@PhotoManipulation Hmmmm... UA-cam must have borked itself again because it says on my end that I am subscribed. Oh well, time to slap that subscribe button a few times to make sure it works! lol
I have been using photoshop for 7 months now and i learn a lot from every single one of your videos like after watching this video I just feel like mess around in photoshop. Keep doing this and I will be waiting for my degree of photoshop basics (also Abbey was looking really cute)
It's a very marketable skill. Even if it's just a side skill you can offer alongside a different skill/job. I'd say it's high income, but high effort to get that income (like most high income jobs haha)
Thank you so much for this video Abbey! As a person new to Photoshop (around a year) I really appreciated this. Especially the part about not being afraid to show my works even if I'm nervous. I'm finishing up one based on a few of your tutorials that I mixed and matched and I will be sure to post it now.
Your blood tutorial is amazing! It helped me take my work from fake looking to realistic! I can’t thank you enough for making that video! Also you shared alot of wisdom about how to overcome all the bs in our heads. “The time will pass anyway…”
The idea of time passing regardless is something I picked up years ago, and has honestly been one of the better pieces of advice I have ever been given!

Is photos manipulation better for high income.
I made a (very good) full time career with Photoshop art. I was a book cover illustrator, and it paid me well ❤️ - Dean
